These are the top 10 songs from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic! For this list, we're paying tribute to some of the most memorable, emotional, epic, or just plain fun musical numbers from the Friendship is Magic franchise. Keep in mind, we can't get every pony's favorite song -we're NOT flawless (Flawless); but if you know a song you think should've made the final cut, let us know in the comments below. Also, since a few of these songs are plot-centered, there WILL be spoilers.

#10: Equestria Girls (The Cafeteria Song) “My Little Pony: Equestria Girls” (2013)

To get her crown back from the human world, Twilight Sparkle will have to win the vote for Fall Formal Princess of Canterlot High… but first impressions aren’t her strongest suit. Luckily, she has the human counterparts of her friends to help win everyone over –thanks to an impromptu pep rally in the cafeteria. The other students have been divided up to this point, but our heroines’ dance routine reminds them that they’re all Canterlot Wondercolts on the inside, and that they can all see past each other’s differences to come together as a school. The energetic beat and heartfelt message still shines through even as a commercial remix tune.

#9: At the Gala “The Best Night Ever”

After a whole season of waiting, it’s finally here – the night of the Grand Galloping Gala in Canterlot. What better way to kick off the celebration than with an epic, grandiose musical number –inspired by Stephen Sondheim’s “Ever After” from the hit musical “Into the Woods”. One by one, our Mane Six sing about their big plans for the Gala, confident that their biggest dreams will come true –with a choir of partygoers emphasizing their excitement for what’s sure to be the “best night ever”. Unfortunately, none of them realize what they’re really in for – a night of complete chaos, and unfulfilled wishes.

#8: Welcome to the Show “My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Rainbow Rocks” (2014)

During Canterlot High’s Battle of the Bands, the Dazzlings’ menacing, domineering melody about total domination clashes against the Rainbooms’ upbeat tune about playing for the music rather than adoration. Our heroes seem outmatched, until Sunset Shimmer takes the mic and leads the Rainbooms into an uplifting finale about the power of friendship and music. Not only is this one of the longest songs in the franchise, but it also serves as a major milestone in Sunset’s character development from a former bully to a full-fledged hero.

#7: You’ll Play Your Part “Twilight’s Kingdom, Part 1”

10 Things We Need to See in You Season 4 Part 2

Ever since her coronation, Twilight Sparkle has struggled to find her one true purpose as a princess – Celestia and Luna control the sun and moon, Cadance controls love itself… but what has Twilight got? Starting with a somber melody, the young princess laments her inadequacy, wanting to feel like she’s truly contributing to her role. The three elder Princesses cut in –the music slowly becoming more uplifting and triumphant- to reassure their young peer that she truly belongs with them. It’s frustrating to not know your full potential in the grand scheme of things, but Twilight wouldn’t be a princess if she didn’t have a part to play –as this stunning number reminds us.

#6: A True, True Friend “Magical Mystery Cure”

Things in Ponyville haven’t been fine at all – Twilight’s friends have magically swapped cutie marks AND destinies. The only way things can return to normal is for Twilight to remind them of how much they mean to each other. Set to an upbeat, reassuring melody, the song follows the ponies one by one as they step in to relieve each other’s stress, step back into their respective elements, and bring order back to the topsy-turvy town. The lyrics are a little repetitive, but the message is clear – a true friend is always there to lend a hoof, or a reassuring push, to help you succeed, no matter how rough the odds are.

#5: Bats! “Bats!”

In this musical back-and-forth, vampire fruit bats are overrunning Applejack’s apple orchard, and the farmer pony isn’t tolerating their feeding frenzy. Fluttershy tries to defend the flying fruit-suckers –saying how beneficial they can be… but stubborn Applejack isn’t having any of it. In a style reminiscent of banter songs from classic musicals, each pony tries to sway their friends to their own side. This tune feels like something straight out of a Tim Burton film – from its foreboding imagery with dark, shadowed colors; to its menacing, Danny Elfman-inspired melody, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

#4: Apples to the Core “Pinkie Apple Pie”

During their road trip, the Apples are determined to show Pinkie Pie that she’ll love being a part of the family. After a lead-in by the cart’s luggage, the family breaks out into a country hoedown as they sing about their tight bond. The visuals keep the song alive – from the cart rocking steadily in sync with the beat, to the visual gags –mostly involving apples. The song itself is a catchy earworm – with a steady rhythm, and expert banjo playing. The lyrics emphasize the Apples’ unbreakable link as Pinkie joins them on the final verse, more excited than ever to feel like part of the family.

#3: Winter Wrap Up “Winter Wrap Up”

Top 10 Behind The Scenes Facts About The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Winter has finally worn out its welcome, and all of Ponyville must work together to clear their town and welcome the spring season. In addition to arguably having the catchiest chorus of Season 1, this showstopper also helps establish the episode’s story and the main conflict of Twilight being unsure of how to contribute without using her magic. Not only is this one of the most referenced songs in the franchise, it also serves as one half of an ultimate mash-up bonus track –blending well with Season 3’s “A True, True Friend”.

#2: This Day Aria “A Canterlot Wedding, Part 2”

An imposter has taken over Princess Cadance’s wedding in a nefarious plot to steal the groom’s love. Meanwhile, the REAL Cadance is trapped in the mines below with Twilight, the two of them desperate to escape and save the wedding. Normally, a song like this would classify as a duet, but the way actress/singer Britt McKillip captures both Cadances’ conflicting characters –one wickedly gleeful, the other sad yet hopeful- hits all the right notes for an aria to us. It’s a Disney-inspired tune that ranges from menacing to melancholy to hopeful all at once –while adding a new layer of depth to the show. Who says a song can’t really have it all? Before we unveil our number one pick, stomp your hooves and shake your tails to a few honorable mentions. What My Cutie Mark is Telling Me “Magical Mystery Cure” Raise This Barn “Apple Family Reunion” Let’s Have A Battle (of the Bands) “My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Rainbow Rocks” (2014)

#1: The Smile Song “A Friend in Deed”

Top 10 Most Underrated Phineas and Ferb Songs

Taking the number one spot is the hallmark song of Ponyville’s most cheerful pony. If there’s anything Pinkie Pie loves more than throwing parties, it’s seeing her friends and neighbors smile and be happy. If there’s even a hint of one of them being unhappy, she’ll go out of her way to brighten up their mood and bring out that grin. If this uplifting, triumphant tune teaches us anything, it’s that we can all put in a little effort to make someone happy, because even the tiniest gesture can really make someone’s day.
