Disneyphiles speak their own language. For this list, we'll be going over the references and situations that are best appreciated by Disney fans, though others can hopefully enjoy them too. Our list includes Knowing All the Songs, Having a Favorite Disney Animator, Disneybounding, Disbelief That Everyone Isn't a Disney Fan, What a Dinglehopper Is, and more! Join MsMojo as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Things Only Disney Fans Will Understand.

#10: The True Pain/Pleasure of How Much Money You Spend on Disney Merchandise

Hardcore fans of Disney are passionate about nearly everything associated with the company. This includes the many collectible items and other merchandise put out by the company that perfected name brand products. This can lead to extensive collections of Disney memorabilia and while being surrounded by the thing you love can be gratifying, and worthy of bragging rights, it can also be incredibly expensive; depending on how much you want to collect and how expensive or rare it is. We’re all for having a hobby, but just make sure it doesn’t bankrupt you in the process!

#9: Knowing All the Songs

One of the most fun things about Disney films is their catchy and memorable songs. Given that most of us watch the movies when we’re kids, their melodies often stay with us our whole lives. Although most people tend to remember some of the greatest hits, such as “Let It Go” or “Hakuna Matata,” only the biggest Disney fans can rattle off the lyrics to every song, including the most obscure themes from the lesser-known movies that the average person would be hard-pressed to name. Just imagine the karaoke battles!

#8: Having a Favorite Disney Animator

People behind the scenes of cinema deserve much more credit than they get, and Disney fans are more willing than most to give them their due. Because Disney animation is brought to life with such amazing detail (usually), fans often develop favorites among the company’s animators. Regardless of whether it’s one of the so-called “nine old men” or a newer talent, Disney animation fanatics frequently find a preferred animator whose name they’re happy to see while watching all the way to the end of the credits; which is another habit of diehard enthusiasts.

#7: The Struggle of Picking a Vacation Spot

Also in:

Top 10 Things Only Adults Understand About Disney Movies

Vacation may be “all we ever wanted,” but it’s hard to know where to get away sometimes, since the whole world is a possibility, barring those too expensive. For Disney fans, though, there are considerably fewer desired locales to visit, as, despite the potential places to go, Disney theme parks will forever act as a siren song begging to be visited. Even knowing that doesn’t preclude them from difficulties, though, as they still have plenty of Disney destinations to choose from, since Disney parks are on multiple continents and there are some who seek out locales where Disney movies were filmed.

#6: “No Capes”

While we rarely take fashion advice from cartoon characters, who are we to argue with Edna Mode? The short-statured mistress of superhero haut couture appears in the “Incredibles” series and her instruction to Mr. Incredible about his costume design is both a prescient plot point in the film, since it proves the villain’s undoing, as well as a memetic piece of pop culture; particularly among Disney and/or Pixar fans. Not that we don’t think some heroes can’t pull them off, of course. Edna’s just fun to imitate.

#5: Disneybounding

Chances are, unless you’ve tried to dress up like a Disney character at a Disney theme park, you have no idea what Disneybounding is. Disney discourages people from cosplaying as characters while in the parks themselves, so as to avoid confusing young children when they see multiple versions of the same character while the visit. Nevertheless, Disney fans have found a way around this. Disneybounding occurs when someone wears modern clothes whose colors or style bring to mind a certain character, thereby allowing fans to dress up, while still not pretending to be them.

#4: What a Dinglehopper Is

Also in:

Top 10 Things You Should NEVER Say to a Disney Fan

Disney movies have plenty of unusual sounding words and phrases, some of which are made up, from Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo to Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. When speaking to a Disney fan, it can sometimes sound like they’re just having a lot of fun making noises with their mouths, which, if you haven’t tried it, is a blast. We’ve chosen to highlight the nonsense word made up by Scuttle in “The Little Mermaid:” “dinglehopper.” When showing his scavenged human artifacts, Scuttle gives them made-up names, as he has no idea what they are or what they’re called either, and one of the most memorable is a fork, which he calls a dinglehopper and believes functions similar to a comb.

#3: The True Differences Between Disneyland & Disney World

Disney World or Disneyland is usually used as a catchall term by many people for a Disney park, depending on personal preference. After all, one Disney park is just like another, right? Wrong! Now, obviously, one is in Florida and the other in California, but location isn’t the only difference. While both share rides and attractions, each usually has its own unique ones too. Even the ones they have in common have differences, and true Disney connoisseurs naturally have their preference on which version is superior; even if they probably enjoy both.

#2: Disbelief That Everyone Isn’t a Disney Fan

Growing up with Disney as a major interest and seeing how popular it is worldwide, many hardcore fans have trouble seeing why everyone else isn’t a gigantic Disney fan too. It’s one of the biggest companies in the world with one of the most recognizable brands, not to mention thousands of memorable properties and characters. Plus, Disneyland is “The Happiest Place On Earth,” for crying out loud! It can be frustrating for anyone when something we love and want to share with others isn’t as well-received as we’d hoped for, though the company is definitely not without its major flaws. Still, that only means the joy Disney fans have at encountering someone of equal passion is all the greater. #1: Picking a Favorite Film Is Impossible

We all have our favorite movies and while our tastes can change over time, most of the time, it can be easy for many of us to select the best one, or at least narrow it down to a small group of frontrunners. For lots of Disney fans, though, the choice is not so simple – choosing a favorite movie is like choosing your favorite child. Do you choose a mainstream blockbuster or an underrated cult hit? A classic of cinema or a modern marvel? There’s almost no wrong choice, but that doesn’t make the choosing any easier.
