Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Villain Dance Scenes in Movies. For this list, we’ll be looking at the meanest baddies with the most rhythm. If you could insert a dance scene into any movie ever, which would it be and who would perform it? Let us know in the comments!

#10: Knox's Entrance

“Charlie's Angels” (2000)
Now this is an epic way to introduce an antagonist! In the 2000 film iteration of the franchise “Charlie’s Angels,” we meet Eric Knox – a genius software engineer who has invented a way to identify an individual through computer voice recognition. The Angels are told that Knox has been kidnapped and that his program was stolen from him – which, as it turns out, is all a ruse orchestrated by Knox himself. But, aside from his well-crafted scheme, the man can get down! He has an awesome entrance scene involving a cigarette and some downright masterful steps. Who doesn’t wish they could do a split that effortlessly? Even if villainy is the price to pay for some smooth moves!

#9: Buffalo Bill's Boogie

“The Silence of the Lambs” (1991)
Hello, Clarice. This scene is extremely chilling as we’re finally introduced to our long-awaited serial killer Jame Gumb, a.k.a Buffalo Bill. While he has his next victim – Catherine, a senator’s daughter – trapped, Buffalo Bill decides now would be a good time for a solo dance party in front of a camcorder. Of course, our hero Clarice Starling saves the day before any more harm is caused. Although Gumb is a haunting villain, this scene is undeniably memorable thanks to Ted Levine’s incredible performance. Plus, this moment leads us to the most climactic scene in the whole film!

#8: Robotnik's Dance

“Sonic the Hedgehog” (2020)
Let’s be real– Jim Carrey absolutely carries (badum tss) every film he’s in! This movie is no different, and especially not when he’s a villain as iconic as “Sonic the Hedgehog’s” Dr. Robotnik, or Dr. Eggman. In this scene, Robotnik is testing the powers of Sonic’s stray quill as he intends to use his electrical abilities for his own evil means. Despite his intentions, he looks like an absolute boss while running tests in the lab! Carrey is a master of physical comedy, and adding this dance scene really brought the character to life for the screen. Gotta go fast? How about gotta go groove, baby!

#7: “Just the Two of Us”

“Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” (1999)
Bill Withers and Grover Washington, Jr.? Try Dr. Evil and Mini-Me! In this second installment of the “Austin Powers” series, Dr. Evil receives a clone of himself – who happens to be a fraction of his size. Together, he and the aptly-named Mini-Me perform an unforgettable rap remix over the soulful classic “Just the Two of Us.” There are countless hilarious scenes and moments from the whole franchise, but this evil pair’s song and dance is just impossible to watch without smiling. Like, seriously, it’s a whole early 2000s music video!

#6: Milo's Dance

“Morbius” (2022)
Since this is a more recent film, we’re giving a spoiler warning for this entry. If you’ve seen “Morbius,” you’d likely agree that Matt Smith completely stole the show. More specifically, this scene was the undisputed gem of the entire film. This interlude made such an impact that it even sparked a meme where the song that Smith’s character, Milo, was dancing to was replaced with just about every other tune in existence. This fun little number is honestly so much more than Milo celebrating; it not only provided some much-needed lightheartedness, but it also hinted at Milo’s newfound thirst for blood.

#5: “Stuck in the Middle with You”

“Reservoir Dogs” (1992)
This song may be the last you ever hear… that is, if you’re Mr. Blonde’s next victim! This scene from “Reservoir Dogs” may feature a groovy little jig from Michael Madsen’s character, but it’s truly gruesome. Mr. Blonde is a heartless, stone cold killer… and the fact that he can boogie around to this Steeler’s Wheel song before… well, you know what he does in this scene, is next-level crazy. However hard to watch, this moment really paints the picture of Mr. Blonde’s twistedness, and adds a lot of character to what would otherwise be a straightforward, gory scene.

#4: The Stairs Dance

“Joker” (2019)
Don’t lie – you’ve tried to recreate this dance on your own set of stairs. Even if you haven’t watched Todd Phillips’s rendition of “Joker,” this would probably be the moment you’ve seen on social media. Joaquin Phoenix played an excellent Joker, and the entire film is a slow burn as we watch him transition from sad clown Arthur Fleck to our favorite grinning maniac killer. This moment is particularly notable as it signals that Fleck is forever gone, and he has gone full Joker-mode. Just because his behavior is awful, doesn’t mean his dance moves are!

#3: The Raincoat Scene

“American Psycho” (2000)
Today’s forecast calls for… dance! Well, and murder. But that’s not what we’re focusing on right now. This famous scene shows us the brutal end of Paul Allen at the hands of our antagonist Patrick Bateman. But, of course, not before he gets in a jazzy little two-step to Huey Lewis and the News. Bateman is completely out of his mind – as the title implies – and decides to kill Allen for securing a dinner reservation that he could not. It kind of makes sense that someone as evil as him could justify a dance break before committing such a gruesome act.

#2: Pennywise's Dance

Also in:

Freddy Krueger vs Pennywise

“It” (2017)
This adaptation of Stephen King’s “It” features a spooky performance from Pennywise. Who knew that inter-dimensional spirits disguised as evil clowns had some sweet moves? Okay, well, sweet might not be the right adjective. After Pennywise kidnaps Beverly and brings her down to its lair, it attempts to keep her around by showing her that it’s a fun, dancing clown, and gets to steppin’. The dead eyed stare paired with the willy-nilly flailing of its arms is total nightmare fuel! Pennywise then opens its mouth, showing Beverly the deadlights inside. Talk about a show-stopping finale!

#1: Tearing Up the Dance Floor

“Ex Machina” (2015)
Nothing screams “psychological thriller” like an intricately choreographed routine. This scene comes out of the blue in this sci-fi film, when Oscar Isaac’s character Nathan refuses to be more transparent about his true intentions. Instead of answering questions, he grabs his attendant, Kyoko, and hits the dance floor. Their perfect synchronicity is super unsettling– especially knowing what sinister plans are yet to come. Spoiler alert: the performance definitely foreshadows the reveal that Kyoko is actually a robot! Say what you will about any of these villains, but seeing them dance somehow makes them both scarier and more lovable at the same time!
