Before indulging in all that summer sun, these shows demand your attention. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 5 Anime of Spring 2018!
For this list, we'll be looking at the brand-new anime that debuted throughout the Spring season and ranking them on how much they blew us away. Both new properties and returning series are more than welcome, just so long as they started this season. What are you waiting for? Hurry up and watch these!

#5: “Food Wars! The Third Plate: Totsuki Train Arc” (2018)

Top 10 Food Wars Moments (Ft. Blake Shepard, Voice of Soma!)

All aboard. With all of Totsuki Academy now under tyrannical rule of Azami Nakiri, Soma and the rest of his fellow chefs are labelled as rebels, and as a result must take on the full force of the Elite Ten or risk expulsion. Not only are the dishes dazzling to behold, and the foodgasms more off the chain off the chain than ever, but the sense of tension has sky-rocketed, giving our heroes’ a perilous do-or-die situation. Honestly, who knew that gourmet cooking could ever be this action-packed!

#4: “Hinamatsuri” (2018)

Undoubtedly the must-see comedy of the season. After being discovered by yakuza-member Nitta, the monotonous Hina, from who-knows-where, decides to live with him and enjoy all Earth has to offer. Given how she’s armed with world-ending psychic powers, he’s not exactly in a position to refuse. What follows is a show that somehow makes us laugh at the expense of a homeless little girl and one forced into manual labour. Hinamatsuri is both hilarious and heartfelt in equal spades, and if you’re not watching it already we’ll send Hina to bust up your collection.

#3: “Megalo Box” (2018)

That art style! That opening! It’s like we’ve jumped back twenty years to the glory days of late 90s anime! With visuals reminiscent of classics such as Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, Joe’s struggle to make it in the futuristic sport of Megalo Boxing is the ultimate blast from the past, one that the anime scene was sorely in need of. The fact that the whole thing is a celebration of legendary boxing series Tomorrow’s Joe is just the icing on the cake. Here’s hoping that this stray dog will have his day.

#2: “Steins;Gate 0” (2018)

That’s the thing about time travel, just when you think everything has been neatly tied-up, there’s a hidden loophole ready to throw everything out the window. In this case, it just so happens to feature a parallel timeline where everyone’s favourite mad scientist was unable to save the love of his life. Just as all seems lost, Okabe finds himself pulled into a brand new time-travelling adventure, one the boasts much more danger, confusion and consequences. Guess you really can’t have too much of a good thing!

Before we reveal our number one pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

“Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku” (2018)

“Tokyo Ghoul:re” (2018)

“Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online” (2018)

#1: “My Hero Academia” Season Three (2018)

Super-heroic doesn’t even begin to cover it. Smashing onto the scene with plenty of ultra to spare, this season wasted no time in giving fans exactly what they wanted; the battle between the U.A High students and the League of Villains. Needless to say, every clash so far hasn’t only been a feast for the eyes, but also served as a clear reminder of why we love these characters, especially since they backs have now been pushed up against the wall. Now excuse us while we go watch Izuku vs. Muscular for the million time.
