Well, when William Rosenberg opened the first of what was to become one of America’s largest chain restaurants in 1948 he decided to call it…Open Kettle? Doesn’t exactly roll of the tongue, does it? Rosenberg apparently felt the same way because in 1950 he decided to rename the restaurant Dunkin’ Donuts, and just five years later started selling franchises. A name isn’t everything, but in this case it's hard not to think that it played a small role in the restaurant’s future success.

Admittedly, it's not exactly Las Vegas, but at least two couples began gave their cruller of love in the marital glaze at a Dunkin' Donuts. The second took place at a New Jersey location in 2010, but the first, taking place in 2005 in Philadelphia, is slightly more interesting. While the Jersey couple just loved them some hot java, the Philly couple actually won their ceremony by competing in an essay writing contest, granting them not only an all expense-paid wedding at the store, but a honeymoon trip as well.

Despite having a plethora of locations peppered across the globe, South Korea continues to reign supreme when it comes to Dunkin’ Donuts’ most successful international locations. The country is host to more than 900 Dunkin’ restaurants, which is more than Canada, the United Kingdom and Spain combined by a large, large margin. To put that in perspective, South Korea accounts for almost 40% of the company’s international sales. However, South Korea's quirky claim to fame may change as Dunkin' expands into China, which has a considerably larger population and area.

Now that’s a lot of beans! Since you first clicked on this video, Dunkin' Donuts has sold thousands of cups of coffee – statistically speaking. Crazy huh? And sure, while they likely sold more than a few donuts in that same time, nowadays the company is more focused on coffee than its namesake pastries. In fact, beverages make up the majority of the company’s sales. Much of this has to do with the way Dunkin’ Donuts rebranded itself in the 2000s; rolling out the slogan “America Runs On Dunkin’” in addition to offering a wider selection of drinks on their menus.

Not wanting to waste precious donut holes the company decided to sell them as their own, unique product. Originally marketed towards children, Dunkin’ decided to call their new creation Munchkins, a nod to the characters in the classic 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz”. Nowadays the delicious little treats can be found in a variety of flavors, although if you’re planning on purchasing just one you’re out of luck; the company no longer sells single Munchkins. Not to worry, Dunkin’ Donuts has more than 100 types of donuts so the chances of you leaving disappointed are next to none.
