Top 5 Most Exciting Things in The Mandalorian Season 3 Trailer

Top 5 Most Exciting Things in The Mandalorian Season 3 Trailer
VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
Are you ready for an adventure? For this list, we're looking at the biggest highlights in the teaser trailer for this Disney+ show's third season. Our countdown includes Grogu back with Mando, a confrontation between Bo-Katan and Din Djarin, the planet Mandalore, and more! The songs of eons past foretold a new age of Mandalore. Are we about to see them come true? Chime in with your predictions in the comments!

#5: Grogu Back with Mando

After kicking off with a flashback to their first meeting, the trailer shows Din Djarin on more space adventures with Baby Yoda … we mean, Grogu. At the end of season 2, Grogu left Mando to train with Luke Skywalker. For those who missed “The Book of Boba Fett”, Luke brought Grogu to his new Jedi Temple, but Grogu ultimately chose to return to his Mandalorian father figure. And it was lucky he did, or Boba’s rampaging rancor would have had Din for dinner. The trailer shows Mando handing Grogu his favorite plaything - the silver ball from the control stick of the Razor Crest. Fortunately, Din doesn’t need it anymore, having picked up an N-1 starfighter in Boba Fett’s series to replace his destroyed ship.

#4: More Mandalorians

A foundling raised by the Children of the Watch, Din Djarin thinks of himself as Mandalorian through and through. However, he eventually learns that his found family is actually a sect that broke away from mainstream Mandalorian culture. Season 3 seems set to expand on Mandalorian lore, featuring even more Mandalorian characters, some of whom we see soaring into action with their jetpacks. We love watching Din taking on enemies solo, but we won’t say no to seeing a whole bunch of Mandalorians working together in a pitched battle! Based on the armor, it looks like at least some of them are part of Bo-Katan’s Nite Owls.

#3: Welcome Returns

The trailer featured the return of several key supporting characters. The Armorer’s voice from past seasons plays over the opening, and in a clip from “The Book of Boba Fett”, she rebukes Din for having removed his helmet. We also see Din reuniting with Greef Karga, who’s still magistrate of Nevarro, but seems to be having trouble with ne’er-do-wells led by a Nikto. Also back are engineer Peli Motto and astromech R5-D4 - who first appeared in “A New Hope”! Looks like R5-D4 now also serves as mechanic on Din’s ship. And is that … Babu Frik?! He was apparently in his 80s in “The Rise of Skywalker”, so it seems likely! It’s a small galaxy after all. We also glimpse Doctor Pershing, as well as Bo-Katan …

#2: A Battle for Leadership

After debuting in “The Clone Wars”, Bo-Katan reappeared in “Rebels”, where she was handed the Darksaber and claimed the title of Mand'alor, rallying the clans behind her to resist the Empire. However, some doubted her leadership, as she hadn’t won the weapon in combat. This included the Children of the Watch. In reaction to Bo-Katan’s resistance, the Empire massacred the Mandalorian people. In season 2 of “The Mandalorian”, Din won the Darksaber from Moff Gideon, but Bo-Katan refused to accept it as a gift again. In the trailer, we see her sitting on a throne, and seeming pretty antagonistic to Din and his ‘cult’. This could forebode a showdown between the surviving Mandalorian factions.

#1: Mandalore

The Empire’s attack on the Mandalorian homeworld, Mandalore, became known as the Great Purge. During The Night of a Thousand Tears, Tie Bombers devastated the surface, bombing the planet’s cities, including the domed capital Sundari. In “The Book of Boba Fett”, the Armorer told Mando that his only chance of redemption lay in the living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore. Based on this and the trailer, we seem set to visit Mandalore in season 3. In fact, the wreckage seen below looks like the remains of Sundari. We can’t wait to finally visit this iconic “Star Wars” location in live-action.
