Found in northern Norway, the country’s North Cape is famous as a great location to observe the midnight sun. In fact, this is the northernmost point on mainland Norway, and one of the most visited locations in the country as well.

Bergen was once Norway’s capital city, and today it is known as the gateway to the fjords. A great way to see the countryside is on the Bergen Railway. This ride is considered one of the world’s most beautiful and scenic train expeditions.

Another way to get spectacular views of famous fjords and the gorgeous Norwegian scenery is from Pulpit Rock. This large stone plateau overlooks the Lysefjorden, and offers views of nearby mountains as well. This attraction is best enjoyed when there is no snow, as the hike to the top can be treacherous. Despite this fact, well over one hundred thousand tourists make the trek each year.

The Geirangerfjord is the most dramatic fjord in all of Norway. With huge mountains towering over it, this fjord is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites found in this Scandinavian country. The beauty of this area is unsurpassed due to its rock cliffs and thundering waterfalls. Boating, hiking, fishing and cruises are popular activities that allow visitors the opportunity to take in all the region has to offer.

Found in Norway’s capital city, the Oslo Opera House houses the national opera and ballet company. It is one of the country’s largest cultural buildings, and its unique architectural design makes the Opera House a piece of art itself. Also found in Oslo is Edvard Munch’s famous painting “The Scream,” and it can be viewed at the National Gallery of Norway. The country’s origins as a home for the Vikings can be seen at Oslo’s Viking Ship Museum.
