Our lives are increasingly connected, both online and in our homes. Amazon is one of the leaders of home automation, with a wide range of branded products to consider. Moving beyond the Amazon family of smart products however, the marketplace boasts a massive selection of devices (many of them compatible with Alexa) allowing you to take control of your home using nothing but your voice. Last year saw steep discounts on everything from multipacks of smart plugs and lightbulbs, to complete home security systems and robotic vacuums. In fact, robotic vacuums consistently rank among the top selling Prime Day deals, with significant discounts. Whether you’re just beginning to set up your smart home ecosystem or looking to fine-tune an already impressive setup, Prime Day can help.
#4 Home Office Equipment
For… obvious reasons, people have been spending a lot more time in their home offices in 2020. Amazon always aims to meet the needs of their subscribers, so we expect there to be savings on all types of office equipment, furniture and peripherals this year, albeit perhaps with limited stock. A home office used to be reserved for evenings and weekends, but with more people putting in 8-hour days from home, ergonomic mouses, keyboards and chairs are sure to be hot ticket items. The same goes for tech and accessories to help kids who are learning remotely. Many parents suddenly find themselves having to find ways for two or three kids to study simultaneously under one roof, making Prime Day deals a welcome answer to such unexpected costs.
#3 Gaming Consoles
Of the five categories of products on our list today, this one feels the most difficult to predict. Some industry insiders are confident that we’ll be seeing 8th gen consoles hit their lowest prices to date. For those who aren’t in a rush to play a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, Prime Day could be a great opportunity to add another console to your TV stand. The Nintendo Switch might come down further in price, but, given inventory issues, the savings are unlikely to be as substantial as we’re expecting for the PS4 and Xbox One. As for the 9th gen consoles, the savings might be slim at best. Regardless, you can expect deals on games and accessories across the board.
#2 Laptops
Though they technically fit under the umbrella of “office equipment,†laptops are such a consistently big deal on Prime Day that they deserve an entry of their own. Chromebooks and PC laptops always see notable discounts, particularly for models that are a few years old. If you’re looking to pay the lowest possible price on a new model laptop, pay close attention to lightning deals and be ready to click ‘order’ at a moment’s notice. Apple products rarely go on sale, but Prime Day is among the rare exceptions. We’ve seen discounts on Apple Watches and iPads in past years. Industry insiders are predicting that Macbooks will be reduced to match sales prices from earlier this year, but are unlikely to dip lower.
