Resident Evil Village DLC Predictions & Hopes

Hey all, welcome to MojoPlays!

Today we’ll be examining concept art, cut content, and fan theories for our Resident Evil Village, DLC Predictions & Hopes.

Now we'll cover what everyone expects the DLC to touch on, but STAY TUNED because we have some AWESOME theories for you at the end, you're gonna love it...

Write me a comment below, on the characters you want to see, or play, most. Plus let me know if I hit the mark for my own screwball DLC theory!

Looking into the PC files reveals there’s a good chance we’ll be getting at least 2 dlcs, which is to be expected when compared to RE7’s many expansions of bonus content. Especially when “Village” is on track to sell even more units!

With all that said and done, let's take a deep dive into what this village of evil residents could have in store for us soon...

#10: Joe Baker Is Back!?

Honestly? Probably not. But people have requested this so adamantly, that it’s worthy of a mention for this list…

The uncle of the Baker family briefly took the spotlight in Resident Evil 7 Biohazard’s “The End of Zoe” DLC chapter. In case you missed out on him, he’s a no-nonsense, gator punching beefcake.

Though Joe's inclusion is highly unlikely as his story was nicely concluded in RE7, just imagine the strictly southern Joe Baker, stomping around Miranda's home turf, punching werewolves into dust.

It could open as simply as Joe waking up in a Romanian forest after a wild night of drinking - boom, plothole cemented. Boxing match with Lady D, anyone?

#9: Ethan Must Die "2": No Time To Die

“Ethan Must Die” was the mega-Hard mode from Resident Evil 7’s “Banned Footage Vol1”, featuring slightly altered maps, traps, and random crate drops.

A sequel in RE Village could be a fun challenge for hardcore players, outside of the preexisting mercenaries mode. Plus we imagine actually completing the onslaught would net players tons of “completion points” for the extra content shop, allowing you to unlock wackier weapons like the Rocket Pistol without having to play the entire game again. All The While putting a heavier emphasis on classic ammo conservation once again.

Although... Such an expansion doesn't give us any more story to work with… Which was a more significant draw of Village’s marketing. SO it’s possible the devs would want to avoid that disappointment all together and go a different route.

#8: Mia's Prequel Story

The story of the father may be complete, but whatta ‘bout the Ma’?

Spoiler warning for Resident Evil Village in 3,2,1! - How and when did Mia's capture by Mother Miranda take place? Under what circumstance would Mia be apart from her infant child, and husband, in this strange new place, for a prolonged period of time, enough to get snatched up by spider lady? What exactly was her experience being held by the mad-woman-demi-god?

So many questions, and all we have are Ethan’s very limited flashbacks to hint at imposter Mia’s true nature.

Perhaps she went through more than we know, and Mia’s story could be thoroughly expanded upon with a DLC of her own. She’d have surely outsmarted Miranda, at some point, to avoid being experimented on! Think, “10 CloverField Lane”, using only your wits, and knowledge of bioweapons to make it out.

Look, Mia hasn’t been portrayed in the best light, she kinda needs this! Since RE7 she’s been kind of a nuisance to the story, so getting more of her perspective would be much appreciated.

#7: Jill Valentine Returns

IMAGINE JILL YO'! Cleaning up the mess of zombie soldiers after the events of Village.

Sure it's been 12 years, but we need to get Jill Valentine out of retirement! She hasn't seen action since Revelations, despite being one of the most popular and recognizable characters in the franchise. After her recent inclusion in Dead by Daylight, she’s cemented her place as Queen-cameo. Teppen, Dead Rising 4, movie spots, plus numerous fighting games to name a few.

We’d all love to see her in an original mainline game again.

Maybe Chris entrusts her with a mission he knows only she is capable of? Such as hunting down a hidden fifth lord or mutamycete branch that survived the iconic RE explosion.

Or hey, Jill is search & rescue after all. Who better to explore the rubble of the once monster infested Village? Leading players on a mission to check for surviving villagers living amongst the hill tops, only to discover the horrors that were released from the blast.

It’s got potential, especially when considering the reunion of the now jaded Chris to his old companion. I think the world is ready to see how time has changed this esteemed heroine!

#6: Young Elana

Witness the downfall of the village by popular NPC Elana. You may also know her as the lady who falls to death in the fire… Ooof.

It would be extra cool if we could meet the young lords pre-mutation, through stories of a village elder, perhaps Grandma Lupu?

There was possible cut content for more stories revolving around the villagers - for example, Heisenberg's line “It’s all over, for your kid and for the whole village!” Even though... by that point... It already was?

Also, the drunkard "Anton", was never really seen to be killed, only presumed dead... So fans are interested in seeing the NPC's side of things. No doubt there could’ve been a trigger happy vigilante who took the fight to Miranada or the lords, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

#5: The Duke's Runaway Carriage

Concept art reveals, quote: "he was going to make his appearance with a runaway carriage". Now RE7 proved they're down for a silly take on DLC (hence Jack's Birthday), so keep your eyes open for a racing game starring the Duke! Hopefully revealing some further plot for His Large-ness, but no guarantees.

Village already changed up the core gameplay, but lacks any sort of multiplayer aspect with the delay of project: Reverse. Duke Racers could be just the ticket! You know the starting lineup has to include Lady D’s mutated form, fish Moreau, and… maybe the baby? He’ll need a speed boost to keep up… Who says a racing game can’t also be horrifying!

Interestingly, concept works ALSO reveal the Duke was a “fifth lord” in early drafts, so perhaps he still is? Ousted, yet allowed to live for some reason? Maybe for his vast knowledge or usefulness in some other regard...

#4: Four Lords Story Books (Forgotten Tapes)

Simply put, each lord could have their own story book, in the style of RE7's "Forgotten Tapes". Mini stories which could chronicle the villains' experiences.

Donna. Collect parts to build your murder-dolls?

Play as Moreau, be sad? Eat cheese?

Now Lady D, people went crazy over her, she got a lot of attention pre launch… like A LOT of attention.... I’m talking about Domino's advertisement levels of attention here… She'll get her own time in the spotlight guaranteed, but I think the other Lords show just as much promise, despite my horrible pitches!

There’s also lots that show up about Hisenburg’s family in concept art. His father being the leader of the village, having a twin brother, and his mother being one of his experiments. The devs may want to experiment with this character themselves, especially if we get a Gravity Falls-esc reveal of a twin who only appears after Hisenburg’s final showdown.

#3: The Maiden DLC

Envision an expansion upon the "Maiden Demo" of Resident Evil Village’s pre-launch.

Play as a maid to Lady D and the daughters, likely finding or crafting items in a set time limit (the wine), or solving puzzles for them. This could finally add more floors to the castle players have fallen in love with.
As determined fans have found numerous dead end doors that are currently unexplorable.

Although, I'm not sure what you'd be fighting as the castle's maid... Rats?

Again, they aren't afraid to change up the core gameplay even if all combat is replaced with puzzle solving. Which was plenty of players' favourite part of the game, a la house Beneviento.

Key story beats could include attending a dinner with Dr. Spencer, Miranda, and Lady D, to piece together what evil scheme was evolving, with an eventual attempt to escape.

#2: The Knight Woman (Josh's screwball theory)

Buckle up, because my theory is a doozy! Take a look through the concept art again, and find the piece detailing Ethan’s encounter with the flying enemies. We see our character holding a sword! Which is quite mysterious as the designers were extremely faithful to the art, especially the weapons!

Now obviously, concept art’s purpose is to deliver a feeling of the final product, but if a development team likes it enough, it can be worked into the final product post-launch (E.g. Mortal Kombat 11 Mileena’s “Good Taste” outro, was based upon Mortal Kombat X’s early concept art)

A statue and mural can be seen in the game, of a woman defeating a demon. We could live the first days of the lycan attacks through this new knight character! Perhaps the art found on the door to castle Demetrescu is one of Miranada’s first big experiments?
She could even bear the Umbrella symbol, as its origins are tracing farther and farther back...

This could also explain the origin of the "death dagger" we use on Lady D in the game, although its description is said to be "used by a man to try and kill Lady D". However, if this female knight always kept her helmet on, we could easily have a Metroid situation.

Still, don’t believe me? Check out this concept for the game's original structure, quote “set in medieval times”. There’s a ton to work with here! Craft crude weaponry like crossbows, experience the village as a bustling new settlement, and learn the history behind the statute we once discarded as a meaningless set piece. There’s a ton of potential here, when the reveal comes, I hope I can say Chiptroid called it!

Finally, what you’ve all been waiting for...

#1: Ada Wong Returns

Originally planned for the main game, Ada has been depicted sporting a plague doctor design in pre-game art.

Ada Wong would have originally broken Ethan out of his trail with the four lords. It would've added another layer of mystery to discover, on top of Chris' conveniently obscured motives. The direct interaction between Ada and Chris as two legacy characters, has been many years in the making and we could finally experience it here.

Eagle eyed fans have noticed that a crow can be seen at the very end of the story book cutscene. Perhaps hinting at Ada's new crow-like redesign making an appearance? She has been known to interfere out of nowhere when evil viruses are kicking around.

Plus, the folks behind Resident Evil Village explicitly used the term "DLC by popular demand", and currently, this mystery woman is who people want to show most!
