Another Top 10 Good Girl Celebrities Gone Bad

Another Top 10 Good Girl Celebrities Gone Bad
VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
Script written by Nick Spake

When they hit the scene their images were squeaky clean, but now these badass celebrities are the some of the baddest of the bunch! Not necessarily in a criminal or moral way, but they certainly have switched up their look, overall persona and beliefs a LOT since they first hit the scene as fledgling, innocent little celebrities.

#10: Natasha Lyonne

In the late ‘90s, Lyonne left her mark as a promising young actress in movies like “American Pie” and “But I’m a Cheerleader.” Her career hit a roadblock following a DUI arrest, though, and she was later charged with mischief, trespass, and harassment. What’s more, she was also accused of threatening to molest her neighbor’s dog. Fortunately, in the 2010s, Lyonne made a comeback with her Emmy-nominated role on “Orange Is the New Black.” Interestingly enough, Lyonne and Nicky Nichols share a fair deal in common: in addition to legal troubles, both have histories involving substance abuse. Then again, Nicky never got weird with a dog. Big Boo on the other hand…

#9: Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens became a household name when “High School Musical” evolved into a cultural phenomenon. While she played the pure and innocent Gabriella Montez, Hudgens soon let out her inner wild cat IRL. In 2007, some risqué photos of the actress were leaked, one of which featured her nude. Hudgens issued an apology and she still got to graduate in “High School Musical 3.” Then, just as things were starting to calm down, topless photos of her surfaced in 2009, and even more nude picks were reportedly leaked in 2011. Well, there are worse things she could do. Scandals aside, Hudgens continues to find steady work in movies, theater, and television, breaking loose with more adult roles.

#8: Teresa Giudice

When “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” first aired, this reality TV star quickly asserted that she’s prone to throwing temper tantrums and turning tables. While not the greatest role model per se, Giudice also presented herself as a smart, respectable entrepreneur. She wrote several bestselling cookbooks and raised $70,000 for charity on “The Celebrity Apprentice.” The goodwill Giudice had built up got flushed down the toilet in 2013, however. Along with her husband Joe, Teresa was charged with multiple counts of fraud, allegedly accumulating over $5 million within 10 years. After pleading guilty in 2014, Joe was sentenced to 41 months in prison while Teresa got 15 months, but she ultimately only served 11.

#7: Tara Reid

Another “American Pie” star gone bad, Tara Reid starred in plenty of raunchy comedies at the dawn of her movie career. Nevertheless, she still came off as a sweet and virtuous young lady with a promising future. In the blink of an eye, however, Reid went from “It Girl” to party girl. A paparazzi regular, Reid is no stranger to the club scene – or rehab for that matter. It doesn’t help that she has essentially become the poster child for botched plastic surgery, which was made apparent following an infamous nip slip in 2004. While Reid claims her partying wasn’t that bad, many would say her image remains messier than a sharknado.

#6: Lalaine

Remember Miranda Sanchez? Remember all the shenanigans she got into with Lizzie McGuire? Remember growing up wishing that you had a best friend just like Miranda? If you answered, “yes,” to any of the previous questions, your childhood is about to go up in smoke. With her bright smile and wacky hairdos, actress/singer Lalaine was a real charmer during her Disney Channel days. This made it all the more surprising when she was charged with possession of meth in July 2007. And you thought it was shocking when Miranda developed an eating disorder... We really weren’t expecting her to go all “Breaking Bad” on us.

#5: Mischa Barton

As Marissa Cooper on “The O.C.,” Mischa Barton was the quintessential girl-next-door, the kind of gal you could bring home to meet the parents. Much like Marissa, though, it wasn’t long until Barton took a dark turn. Shortly after the series ended, she had a few run-ins with the law. Her most notable offense occurred in 2007, as she was not only charged for driving under the influence, but driving with an invalid license as well. Barton’s mental health has also been called into question, as she was involuntarily committed for two weeks in 2009, and was found on her back fence screaming about the world’s end in 2017 – resulting in another mental health evaluation.

#4: Kylie Jenner

The Kardashian-Jenner clan isn’t exactly known for their role model behavior, but Kylie could’ve been the light at the end of the tunnel. During the early seasons of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” Kris’ youngest daughter was the most wide-eyed and adorable family member. She even appeared self-aware of Kim Kardashian’s celebrity status, poking fun at her older sibling for being such a diva. As she grew up, however, Kylie seemingly and ever so slowly transformed into another Kim clone, gaining notoriety for her lip injections and mastering the art of twerking. Kylie’s evolution can be summed up in a text message where she thanked Kim for showing her “how to turn from good girl to ghetto.”

#3: Bella Thorne

Why do former Disney Channel stars keep popping up here? Many would argue that it’s because the Mouse House enforces such a wholesome, family-friendly brand. So as young actresses like Bella Thorne get older, they need to go the extra mile to establish a more grown-up persona. In Thorne’s case, she’s found various ways to shake it up. Leaving CeCe Jones in the past, she’s ditched her red hair while expanding her wardrobe with some rather revealing outfits. Thorne’s transformation is also reflected in her film roles, as she’s played the designated mean girl on multiple occasions.

#2: Ariana Grande

Now we change the channel from Disney to Nickelodeon. Ariana Grande was a standout on “Victorious,” resulting in the spin-off, “Sam & Cat.” But as Grande’s singing career skyrocketed, she blossomed into a racy performer with sexy singles like “Dangerous Woman.” In addition, she attracted bad press for reportedly being rude to fans, journalists, and people in general. Her most controversial moment occurred in 2015 when she helped herself to some samples at a donut shop… in the most uncouth way possible. As if licking pastries without paying weren’t bad enough, she also declared her hatred for America. She did, however, act with maturity, compassion and grace following the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing by organizing and participating in various fundraising efforts.

Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
- Ariel Winter
- Heidi Montag
- Aly Michalka

#1: Rihanna

Rihanna’s albums are a perfect representation of how her public image has changed over the years. Her first two studio albums, “Music of the Sun” and “A Girl like Me,” hosted a series of mostly bubbly, inoffensive songs. She then reinvented herself with her third album, “Good Girl Gone Bad” - a title that pretty much says it all. Adapting an edgier sound, there was also a drastic shift in Rihanna’s hairstyles and clothing. She’s since grown into one of the 21st century’s biggest sex symbols, as well as a prominent supporter of marijuana. With other albums like “Rated R” and “Unapologetic,” RiRi’s made it clear that she’s not the delicate flower we once thought she was.
