20 Best Costumes in Spider-Man 2

Welcome to MojoPlays and today we’re looking super fly as we swing around New York City in the best of the Spider-Men’s extensive wardrobe.

There will be some slight story spoilers for some of these costumes so viewers beware.

Secret Wars: Civil War Suit

Civil War was a major event within the comics that had lasting effects and multiple universes also experienced similar events but weren't as lucky as the main timeline and their conflict continued to escalate. The Civil War Suit is inspired by one such universe in which tech from other heroes, in this case specifically Falcon, were used in Spidey’s suit and gives him a much more function over form militaristic look to represent the ongoing war. Falcon’s wing tech also gets a cool shoutout with this suit as instead of the traditional web wings, Falcon’s wings pop out from Spidey’s pack. Of course there’s multiple color options as well, with some being more camouflage ready than others.

Smoke & Mirrors Suit

Designed specially for Spider-Man 2 by Insomniac and unlocked after completing all the Mysterium missions to their conclusion, Miles adopts the world’s greatest illusionist’s threads to more fit his Spidey style. While the suit is toned down from Mysterio’s more dramatic and over-the-top design, thankfully Miles elected to keep the fishbowl from the villain’s original costume albeit with the more traditional Spidey eye pieces as opposed to Mysterio’s skull design. Plus, with the multiple color options available, fans can finally live out their Power Ranger’s fantasies in a virtual New York!

Iron Spider/Iron Armor

Originally appearing in the original 2018 game and based on the 2006 Civil War costume worn by Peter during that comic series’ run, the Iron Armor gets an upgrade from both those versions due to the improved ray tracing effects and the color variations available are equally stunning. Alongside the original Iron Spider suit is the MCU version of this iconic armor also returning from Spidey’s original outing and while there aren’t any additional colors available for this suit, players do get the chance to wear the Black and Gold version worn briefly by Peter during No Way Home when he had to turn the suit inside out. Wires and all are also perfectly represented here but players will need to reach level 60 to unlock this special suit.

Biomechanical Suit

For those looking to give Miles a taste of the symbiote suit, those who preordered the game can have access to the Biomechanical Suit designed by artist Jerad Marantz from the start of the game. The suit combines both synthetic and mechanical components to resemble something H.R. Giger might’ve designed had he been given a Spider-Man comic run. The armor-like shell barely covers the exposed muscle tissue that feels like it's forcing its way out of the damaged suit. The mask even incorporates some of the more grotesque aspects of the spider side of Spider-Man, particularly the mandibles. Yikes.

Superior Suit

One of the sleekest options available for Peter in Spider-Man 2, the Superior Suit comes from the comic book run in which Doc Ock transfers his consciousness into Peter effectively becoming the new Spider-Man. Much like Peter in Spider-Man 2, Doc Ock incorporated his robotic limbs into the suit and their mechanism is visible with the giant spider emblem on the back of the suit. Much like many of the other suits available in the game, this one also comes with multiple variations making it difficult to decide honestly which one is the coolest out of the four.

Enc0ded Suit

Probably the closest Miles has come to his own version of the Iron Armor, the Enc0ded Suit is another only available for those who preordered the game, and for those who didn't, what's wrong with you? It’s Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2! You knew it was going to be good! The Enc0ded Suit also incorporates more cyberpunk aesthetics into its design as well as what designer Kris Anka described as abstract lettering that hides messages that call back to popular phrases throughout the Spider-Man series. We especially love that no matter how futuristic and cyberpunk the suit looks and feels, Miles still found a way to incorporate his trusty sneakers into the suit’s design.

Scarlet III Suit

Reminiscent of the Arachknight suit later on our list, the Scarlet III Suit stands out not only for the cowl but also the striking color options available. Pulling from the Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider comic book run, the symmetrical split of the colors gives the suit an almost body armor-like appearance and although the Arachknight suit is only available for those who preordered the game, the Scarlet III Suit is one of the first players can unlock at level 3 and is a substantial step up from the Scarlet Spider and Scarlet II suits available in 2018’s Spider-Man.

Forever Suit

The MCU’s own Black Panther Chadwick Boseman sadly passed away in 2020 and in Miles Morales’ solo outing the same year, Insomniac paid tribute to the late actor in Miles’ solo outing the same year, but with Spider-Man 2, Insomniac once again paid homage to the fallen king. The Forever suit, heavily inspired by Black Panther’s costume and designed by artist Bosslogic, adds the familiar Black Panther ears to Miles’ mask as well as a claw-like design to his feet. Players can even pay their own respects to the late Chadwick Boseman by traveling to the Wakandan Embassy in their Forever Suit and Miles will perform the famous Wakanda Forever salute.

Kumo Suit

Designed by artist Peach Momoko, the Kumo suit, also the Japanese word for Spider, is heavily inspired by Japanese culture as well as giving Spider-Man a modern samurai style. Every variation of the suit pops with intricate design and the placement of the tattoo like designs on the costume itself also gives the suit an almost mechanical or robotic feel making Peter effectively a futuristic ninja. The eyes are especially, well, eye-catching, with their oversized outlines that skew closer to an actual spider’s eyes complete with multiple eyes within the eyepieces themselves.

S.T.R.I,K.E. Suit

The US might have SHIELD but the UK has STRIKE, the Special Tactical Reserve for International Key Emergencies, (they were really reaching for that acronym), and this suit imagines what it would be like if Miles joined the secret organization across the pond. Miles’ STRIKE suit is not only his most armored look in the game, but also one of the biggest standouts in design with artist Dave Rapoza setting out to make a design reminiscent of the coolest action figures and taking inspiration from the Gundam and Kamen Rider anime series. We’d say he definitely succeeded in his design as Miles looks ready to walk out into a warzone and deflect bullets without even breaking a sweat.

Anti-Venom Suit

Getting the symbiote suit was undeniably a power trip that players were sad to see go after Peter freed himself from the suit, especially after having spent their precious upgrade points unlocking all the symbiote powers. Thankfully, players get another shot with all those abilities near the game’s end, the Anti-Venom suit and we know we weren’t the only ones grateful to see their return. The stark white interspersed with the black spider outlines makes the costume pop and stands out amongst Spidey’s usual wardrobe and while there aren’t any additional color variations, it’s hard to improve upon perfection.

City Sounds Suit

A big part of Miles’ character is his connection to his community and that’s no better exemplified than with the City Sounds Suit players earn by completing the Cultural Museum side mission. The suit is a direct callback to the golden age of blues and jazz in the 1940s complete with the sweater/hat combo which was the style at the time. In addition to unlocking the costume by completing the mission, players will also unlock the museum itself that Miles can tour and get a quick history lesson on some of the greatest blues and jazz players of all time as well as how their music continues to inspire the music of today.

Amazing Suit

One of the most requested suits in the 2018 game, Insomniac not only included the first Amazing Spider-Man’s suit, complete with the iconic yellow eyes and enormous spider design, but also the toned-down update from Amazing Spider-Man 2. Both versions of the suit shine, literally, in Spider-Man 2 with the suits materials making great use of the game’s updated ray tracing effects and the sleek, more athletic design skews closer to what someone who is constantly doing acrobatics would actually wear while swinging through the skyline of New York City.

Dark Ages Suit

The comics remain an unending source of inspiration for some of the game’s best suit designs as this time Insomniac took inspiration from the Dark Ages comic run in which the world is sent back to the Dark Ages after an EMP creates a world without electricity. Fittingly for Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 game, the suit is created from Miles bonding with both Venom and Carnage simultaneously and the results are this masterpiece of horrific design. We’re not going to lie, we’re especially big fans of the raised collar which gives Miles a Count Dracula-like feel to match the Dark Ages timeline.

Webbed/Webbed Black Suits

When it comes to the live action Spider-Man costumes, there are arguably none more iconic than the Webbed suit and Webbed Black suit from Sam Raimi’s trilogy of Spider-Man films and Insomniac has perfectly recaptured them in Spider-Man 2. Both of these costumes weren’t available at launch in Spidey’s original 2018 outing but Insomniac sought to rectify this issue by including it in the game day 1. The raised web design of the suits stands out from the rest of Peter’s wardrobe and fans of the original Spider-Man films will be hard pressed not to immediately switch to the Webbed Black suit the minute Peter comes into contact with the symbiote. We know we definitely had to fight the urge.

Best There Is Suit

If you’re looking for the best suit in the game, look no further than right here bub. With Wolverine being the next release in Insomniac’s Marvel universe, they decided to get a jump on things and include a suit just for Miles based on Marvel’s most popular X-Man. Inspired by the What If… comic in which Miles became Wolverine instead of Spider-Man, the young hero of course has his own signature style but the remaining options are all nods to Logan’s costumes over the many years, including his X-Force days, but for our money, there’s no beating the traditional yellow and blue.

Arachknight Suit

We’re combining one from each of the Spider-Men for this entry as the pair of costumes are too cool not to include both. Sadly only available, for now anyways, as a pre-order bonus, the Arachknight Suit and Shadow Spider Suit are inspired by the Infinity Warps comic from 2018 and combines both Spidey and Moon Knights costumes into one while Miles’ comes from the Champions run also from 2018 in which Miles is sent back Medieval times and becomes the rogue known as the Shadow Spider. The cape and cowl are amazing to see in action and the cape is put to great use with the Spideys’ new web wing ability, allowing him to fly between the rooftops with ease all while looking like an absolute badass.

Into & Across the Spider-Verse

Sony’s Into and Across the Spider-Verse movies are some of not only the best Spider-Man movies ever made but also a great introduction for newcomers to Miles Morales as Spider-Man. Insomniac previously made the Into the Spider-Verse costume available for Miles in his solo outing and with Spider-Man 2, that suit is back again alongside the updated version from the film’s sequel Across the Spider-Verse as well as Miles’ Spider-Boy suit complete with cape, before he designed the costume we all know and love. What makes these suits especially cool is not only do they maintain the movie’s comic book style, but they also run at a lower framerate to match the films as well. Peter also gets in on the action with the Spider-Noir suit which features the same comic book style and lower frame rate as Miles’ outfits.

Symbiote Suit

We’d already seen brief glimpses of this suit in the promotional clips and images but seeing it in action is so, so much more. The entire suit just feels alive with almost a constant pulse running through the entire suit that only intensifies the more bonded Peter becomes to the suit. Seeing those tendrils explode from the suit is endlessly satisfying as well as a visual spectacle. We also get a nice nod to the Lethal Protector version of the suit when Harry’s powers first manifest. And for those who prefer a more classic original look to the Black Suit, Insomniac included that as well for those die-hard comic book fans complete with multiple shading options to choose from including the purple-hued version from the Ultimate Spider-Man incarnation.

Absolute Carnage Suit

We didn’t think the symbiote could get any cooler than when Peter donned the costume but boy were we wrong! Insomniac had one last option up their closet for players to unlock at level 60 with the Absolute Carnage suit for Miles. The suit feels and looks alive with tendrils spiking off various points of Miles’ body to the point where just the sight of it would make any potential evildoer more likely to surrender than put up a fight. Sadly, the costume is missing the additional arms Miles was sporting in the comic version of this costume but the multiple color styles, each worse than the last, more than makes up for this oversight.
