The 8 BEST Resident Evil 4 PC Mods

The 8 BEST Resident Evil 4 PC Mods
VOICE OVER: Ty Richardson WRITTEN BY: Ty Richardson
As it's one of the most celebrated games of all time, there are a ton of great mods for "Resident Evil 4." For this list, we're looking at the most interesting mods players have made for Capcom's seminal survival horror game. Our list includes Hershey's Milk Chocolate First Aid Spray by defexter, Impossible Mode by KEVIN465M0RAN, Enemy/Merchant Randomizer by re_duke, Lara Croft Pack by Raq, and more!
Welcome to MojoPlays, and today, we’re taking a look at the 10 Best “Resident Evil 4” PC Mods! To gear up for the launch of RE4’s remake, we went back and played through the original, but with some mods installed. These are our favorites! Do note that we ignored the sea of mods that turned characters into anime waifus - that deserves its own list. Which RE4 mod is your favorite? Let us know down in the comments.

Purpose of the Puppets

ike9000

You know, playing through RE4 again, something doesn’t sit right with us. Some sections of the game feel comically easy. It’s as if some enemies were there just to waste a bullet or two. There needs to be more. With ike9000’s Purpose of the Puppets mod, you can alter the number of enemies in the game. This mod will manipulate the game’s spawning scripts to where enemies will respawn when re-entering rooms and locations. In other words, you might need to exercise your ammo management before taking on this makeshift challenge.

Lara Croft Pack

Raq

We promise we won’t try to tack on too many character swap mods. It’s just this one was too good to pass up. The modder known as “Raq” went and tinkered with Ada to replace her with Lara Croft. You’ll have three options at your disposal: classic Lara from the original “Tomb Raider”, the updated Lara from “Tomb Raider: Anniversary”, and the dark and gritty Lara from “Angel of Darkness”. Just be aware that the mod isn’t perfect and you may encounter a couple of bugs. Nothing game-breaking, thankfully.

Hershey’s Milk Chocolate First Aid Spray

defexter

You know, the first aid spray is boring. Really, you expect us to believe a simple mist of chemicals can instantly heal any and all wounds regardless of severity? What Leon really needs is a chocolate bar, and a damn good chocolate bar at that. Only one brand can provide that. Behold the chalky sweetness that is Hershey’s chocolate! Install this mod, and “Resident Evil” will finally have some realistic logic. About time.

Re4generators

Infernal

Now that we think about it, simply duplicating and respawning enemies isn’t going to make RE4 harder. We need more. What is one annoying enemy in RE4 that can make this game tougher? Regenerators! Created by the modder known as “Infernal”, Re4generators cranks it up to eleven by adding a Regenerator into nearly every room! Infernal themselves even recommends playing on Professional difficulty and disabling the HUD for a truly challenging campaign.

Rescue the Nemesis

DeXiaZ

This mod kind of turns RE4 into a bit of a fever dream. Modder “DeXiaZ” has gone and wiped Ashley off the face of the Earth and replaced her with…Nemesis? Yep, the walking abomination is now in your care. In addition to replacing Ashley, all of the President’s daughter’s lines have been replaced with Nemmy’s roar. The best part of this mod, though? They kept Ashley’s ear-piercing scream in. Pure bliss.

Sonic, Knuckles, & Tails Grenades

defexter

Grenades really need a bit more personality put into their design. Either a new design or just something that makes it look goofy. Well, if you have the need for a bit more ludicrous behavior in RE4, modder “defexter” replaced the mods with dolls of Sonic (for flashbangs), Tails (for frags), and Knuckles (for incendiary grenades). Now all we need are some squeaky sound effects or maybe a mod that shows rings bursting from our enemies.

Assignment Ada Plus

Team Survival

One of the coolest unlockables in RE4 occurs after you beat the main game once. Assignment Ada is a non-canon minigame where you must infiltrate the village and steal a number of samples for Wesker. It’s a relatively short minigame, lasting only about thirty to forty minutes. But if you want just a little bit more Ada, modding team Team Survival has created Assignment Ada Plus, which expands upon the campaign a bit. Hey, more Ada action is always a plus in our books

Impossible Mode

KEVIN465M0RAN

Even with a new spawning script and Regenerators placed in almost all of the rooms, it isn’t enough. We need to set RE4 to LUDICROUS difficulty, and there’s only one mod to top it off: Impossible Mode. Designed by modder “KEVIN465M0RAN”, Impossible Mode goes and litters rooms with a bunch of chainsaw-wielding villagers. Total decapitation is now within arm’s reach at all times. Hope you know how to navigate all those tighter corridors!

Enemy/Merchant Randomizer

re_duke

And to top off our insanely impossible RE4 campaign, we need something to keep us on our toes. We need something that will force us to constantly adapt to our situation. With this randomizer from modder “re_duke”, just about everything is randomized in the worst ways possible. How many enemies are in the next room? When are we gonna run into the merchant again? Are we starting this run with a measly pistol or is Lady Luck giving us a magnum? From boss fights to upgrades to even enemy HP, this is the mod to test your skills. Good luck!

JOKE: Leon Kennedy Tramp Stamp

Ladies and gentleman, Leon has fully embraced his inner himbo and is ready to show the world his true self!!

Resident Evil 4 HD Project

KEVIN465M0RAN

All of our joke entries and difficulty adjusters aside, this truly is the best mod you could ever install on RE4. Resident Evil 4 HD Project is incredibly impressive in how it gives this untimely classic a complete makeover without staining any part of its visual identity. Just look at this! It’s as if we got a full-on remaster! The one thing you all should know before installing this is that you will need a somewhat powerful computer to run it.
