The 10 BEST Weapons in Black Myth: Wukong

Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we’re looking at the most powerful armaments you can wield in “Black Myth: Wukong”.

Bishui Beast Staff

Can’t go wrong with a legendary weapon with 105 attack power and an additional 10% critical hit chance. To obtain it, you need to beat Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast, a secret boss with quite the bite to its name. You can then craft it as long as you’ve already acquired the prerequisite Rat King Staff. Unfortunately, it lacks a unique ability, and this weapon’s appeal comes purely from its high base power and critical hit chance. You find it relatively late into the game, so it’s not going to be useful for long, but it’s still an effective smashing stick.

Spider Celestial Staff

An insidiously enticing weapon - to obtain it, you must defeat the Violet Spider and then use the Spider Leg found to craft it. It has two useful abilities, the first allowing you to recover health upon using focus points for a successful hit with charged heavy attacks. Additionally, if the Destined One is poisoned himself, then hits will inflict your opponent with poison bane. This combos amazingly with the Insect armor set, which increases the damage of all poison attacks. Alternatively, the Centipede set can be used, which reduces the damage received and dealt when poisoned.

Visionary Centipede Staff

The Visionary Centipede Staff is a slight upgrade from its webbed counterpart. It has 90 attack power and 10% critical hit chance, and also heals you when consuming focus points for charged heavy attacks. Its second ability is also an upgrade, as it enhances health recovery if your opponent is in a poisoned state. You just have to beat the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master first. Disappointingly the staff doesn’t apply poison to help activate the ability, requiring you to transform to poison enemies. Its attack power and critical chance are some of the best in the game though, making it a decent weapon choice.

Spikeshaft Staff

This legendary weapon’s passive ability packs quite a punch, since it lets you gain focus after Seeing Through the enemy, which is the often-overlooked parry mechanic hidden in the Resolute Counterflow ability. If you have two focus points in the bag, you can follow this up with Skyfall Strike for an amazing combo. The extra focus given by this weapon makes the combo even easier to achieve, and in newer patches, the weapon has been buffed to provide an extra 30 total mana.

Stormflash Loong Staff

Our first mythical weapon, with an incredible 140 attack and 9% additional critical hit chance. It’s the highest-damage weapon in the game, but is only available during New Game Plus. It needs an incredible 9 Loong Pearls to be crafted, which are only dropped by the four Loongs and Kang-Jin Star, and is an upgraded version of the Kang-Jin Staff. It can be used to draw thunder while charging, inflicting a shocked bane on the destined one, allowing you to inflict thunder damage with every attack. Disappointingly the shocked state means you take 20% extra damage, which anti-synergises with abilities that reduce the duration of Four Banes effects.

Golden Loong Staff

If you manage to power on through and defeat the likes of Cyan and Yellow Long, you’ll unlock the recipe for the mythical Golden Loong Staff, with an excellent 108 attack power, but no additional critical hit chance. It moderately increases the attack power of all Pillar Stance moves, and it can also summon a Loong to execute Thunder when you perform a Pillar Stance heavy attack that costs 3 or more focus points. So in just one hit it will apply the lightning debuff to an enemy, meaning they take 20% more damage from everything. Worth it.

Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear

One of two spear-type weapons in the game, the Tri-Point Double Edged Spear can only be unlocked after fighting Erlang Shen and the Four Heavenly Kings. It has an incredible 135 damage, plus a 6% extra critical hit chance. Since it’s a spear, it has a whole new light attack combo, and also increases the damage of Thrust Stance attacks by 16%. Additionally, if you perform the Forceful Thrust attack then the staff shoots swords which looks phenomenal but unfortunately doesn’t deal too much damage. It’s a solid weapon, but not the power you would expect as a reward for beating the game's toughest boss.

Adept Fine Shooting Fuban Staff

Another New Game Plus exclusive weapon that packs a mighty punch. It not only recovers a portion of health by consuming focus points, but also attacks enemies with spines that shoot straight from the staff. This works in literally all stances, making it strong for almost any build. Don’t underestimate the spine attack, as it deals a hefty amount of damage. It’s also rather simple to obtain, since the recipe is unlocked as soon as you begin the game for the second time.

Dark Iron Staff

The unique effect of this weapon can be mind-blowing if built around correctly, as it considerably increases attack power based on defense. This monstrous staff is the final upgrade of the Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff. So if you combine this weapon with some high-defense armor, such as the Bull King Set, then you’re going to be essentially a walking tank who can dish out just as much damage as it can endure. This makes it amazing in later cycles for those ready to up the difficulty to its limit.

Jingubang

No surprises here. The staff wielded by the legendary Great Sage, Heaven’s Equal, a twenty-foot-tall iron pillar - of course it packs a wallop. It has an astounding 135 attack power, with a decent 6% additional critical hit chance. It can’t be crafted, and is instead found at the Water Curtain Cave accessed only with the Somersault Cloud during the game’s closing chapters. Its bonuses are amazing, on its own it prevents your fourth focus point gauge from depleting. With the full Heaven’s Equal set, you will get a moderate increase in critical hit chance after casting a spell, alongside a reduced spell cooldown when landing a critical hit. What more could a destined one want?
