Ranking ALL the Snatch Games on RuPaul's Drag Race & All Stars

#19: Season 14
When it comes to truly underwhelming challenges, this one takes the cake. Has there ever been another Snatch Game with only one performance worth watching? DeJa Skye’s Lil Jon was attention-grabbing, if a little one note. Sadly, though, the other queens didn’t fare so well. Some characters could have worked, like Lady Camden’s Shakespeare or Bosco’s product-pushing Gwyneth Paltrow. But at the end of the day, the jokes are what matter in Snatch Game — and there were few good ones to be found. The showings other than DeJa’s were so poor, Ru put seven queens through a lip sync smackdown as punishment.
#18: Season 11
This time around, even some strong competitors succumbed to the pressures of Snatch Game. In fact, the two worst performances came from the season’s eventual finalists, Yvie Oddly and Brooke Lynn Hytes. But this challenge had other duds besides Whoopi Goldberg and a confused Céline Dion. For instance, Miss Vanjie’s lovable personality got lost in the character of viral star Danielle Bregoli. There were some bright spots, like Silky Nutmeg Ganache’s audacious TS Madison. Meanwhile, Nina West did a fair job of saluting Broadway star Harvey Fierstein. But even these successes weren’t hugely memorable.
#17: Season 4
This Snatch Game came early in “Drag Race” her-story, and set the bar… for what not to do. Few challenges before or since have been marred by so much tomfoolery. Kenya Michaels’s Beyoncé wasn’t funny, but also took the spotlight away from other queens. And other performances landed with a thud, like Phi Phi O’Hara’s Lady Gaga. Despite all the chaos, Season 4’s showing gets extra points for one of Snatch Game’s most iconic performances. Chad Michaels’s Cher was an absolute masterclass in comedic timing. It both displayed the singer’s irreverent personality and brought about some unforgettable quotes. And, naturally, the visual illusion was incredible.
#16: Season 3
This season’s iteration of Snatch Game was definitely not among the funniest ever. Mariah managed to make a larger-than-life character like Joan Crawford utterly boring. And Delta Work’s Cher was immediately one-upped by Chad Michaels the following season. However, there were multiple strong performances. Raja’s portrayal of an erratic Tyra Banks harkened back to the queen’s days on “America’s Next Top Model.” Alexis Mateo, meanwhile, took a creative approach to Alicia Keys by constantly hitting on guest judge Amber Rose. Plus, we were treated to a hilariously inaccurate version of an English accent thanks to Yara Sofia.
#15: “All Stars” 4
This installment of the “Drag Race” all-star spinoff introduced a brand new Snatch Game. Structured as a dating show, the Snatch Game of Love allowed the queens to answer questions posed by a mystery bachelor. In turn, their celebrity characters got to show off both their funny and flirtatious sides. However, Gia Gunn’s Jenny Bui derailed one of the rounds while drawing Latrice Royale’s ire. In the other round, Monét X Change and Valentina both struggled despite their natural humor. Thankfully, we got a few great performances as well. Naomi Smalls’s Wendy Williams was spot-on, while Trinity The Tuck as Caitlyn Jenner was laugh-out-loud funny.
#14: Season 12
This Snatch Game was marred by several mediocre showings. Aiden Zhane’s Patricia Quinn was so lackluster even the star herself commented on it. But other queens like Brita, Crystal Methyd, and Jan also failed to deliver laugh-worthy moments. However, a few competitors were truly inspired. Jackie Cox channeled every inch of ‘Real Housewife of Beverly Hills’ Lisa Rinna. And Gigi Goode truly struck gold. She may have been a fashionista, but she also showed her comedy chops as Maria the Robot. With mechanical mannerisms and a sassy personality, the character was utterly unique and hilarious.
#13: “All Stars” 6
Sure, we didn’t fall for every performance in this Snatch Game of Love. But there were enough great ones to keep us entertained. Ginger Minj is known as a hilarious queen, and she proved why once here. Although Kylie Sonique Love isn’t known for her comedy skills, perhaps she should be. Her Dolly Parton practically went toe to toe with Ginger’s Phyllis Diller. Ra’Jah O’Hara nailed LaToya Jackson’s look and voice, while Eureka! was arguably underrated as Divine. The queens’ personas weren’t among the most memorable of all time. But this Snatch Game had no shortage of laughs.
#12: Season 2
The first-ever Snatch Game was something of a prototype for future seasons. Some impersonations were awful, some were forgettable, and some were truly magical. Tatianna was absolutely hilarious as a dazed Britney Spears. But we shouldn’t forget Pandora Boxx, who portrayed Carol Channing years before Bob the Drag Queen won for the same. Jessica Wild also deserves a shoutout for her unhinged version of RuPaul. Sure, Kylie Sonique Love and Tyra Sanchez couldn’t have been less exciting. Even superstars like Raven and Jujubee faded into the background. But this first iteration showed that Snatch Game could bring about comedic gold.
#11: Season 10
The tenth edition of “Drag Race” boasted some very memorable performances. Aquaria’s Melania Trump could have gone wrong in so many ways, but she managed to pull it off. With a spot-on look and voice, she lampooned the former first lady in a way that felt daring and hilarious. Maya Angelou and Honey Boo Boo’s appearances on the panel were also truly fantastic. While the former was witty and irreverent, Eureka!’s character was silly in the best way. Many of the other performances did underwhelm, like Mo Heart’s Maxine Waters. However, we were glad to see the likes of Monét X Change chime in to keep the laughs going.
#10: “All Stars” 3
Was this Snatch Game good across the board? No. But was it immensely entertaining? Absolutely. Trixie Mattel is one of the most beloved “Drag Race” comediennes. That’s what made her bombed impersonation of RuPaul so shocking. With odd, twitchy mannerisms and a lack of jokes, it was awkward to say the least. However, other performances were absolutely stellar. BenDeLaCreme’s Paul Lynde had dirty jokes galore, and the queen remained in character the entire time. Plus, she was able to turn her competitor’s responses into her own punchlines. The panel was rounded out by an underrated Crystal Labeija from Aja, and a strong Jenifer Lewis from Shangela.
#9: Season 13
This Snatch Game contained one of the best showings in recent memory. From the moment she realized she was on camera and dropped her voice, Gottmik’s Paris Hilton was unforgettable. The performance was a huge step in Gottmik realizing her potential as a comedian, and we loved to see it. Although Denali and Rosé had totally different philosophies in choosing their characters, both succeeded. Jonathan Van Ness was over-the-top peppy, while Mary, Queen of Scots was brazen and irreverent. These were balanced out by some cringe-worthy outings from Utica and Olivia Lux. But the challenge overall kept us cracking up.
#8: Season 5
The fourth-ever Snatch Game gave us an all-time iconic performance. Jinkx Monsoon’s Little Edie was a risky choice as a lesser-known pop culture figure. However, Jinkx brought the documentary star to life like it was nothing. With jokes about cat food and a magnifying glass prop, the character was instantly unforgettable. Nearly as hilarious were Alaska as Lady Bunny and Roxxxy Andrews as Tamar Braxton. Most other performances flew under the radar. Okay, not counting Alyssa Edwards as Katy Perry, which was memorable for all the wrong reasons. The performance was so lackluster, Ru even asked Alyssa to apologize for it. Suffice it to say, we were entertained.
#7: Season 9
This Snatch Game boasted a number of great performances. At the top of the list were Alexis Michelle’s winning take on Liza Minnelli, complete with jazz hands and leg kicks. And, of course, we can’t forget that voice. Although more subdued, Sasha Velour’s version of Marlene Dietrich was also witty and hilarious. Those weren’t the only standouts, though. Aja, Valentina, and Shea Couleé all did fairly well, too. With only a couple of duds, it was an unusually consistent showing. The queens were able to show off totally different styles of comedy, but they blended harmoniously overall.
#6: “All Stars” 5
The second-ever Snatch Game of Love was once again split into two rounds. The first featured Miz Cracker and India Ferrah, who unfortunately faded into the background. This wasn’t the case for three-time competitor Alexis Mateo, however. Her shady version of astrologer Walter Mercado undoubtedly stole the show. But it was the game’s second round that was truly side-splitting. The dynamic duo of Jujubee and Shea Couleé was simply perfection to watch. Eartha Kitt and Flavor Flav might seem like very different personalities. However, they shared a kooky spirit that made for practically non stop laughs. Walking to the thermostat has never been the same.
#5: Season 8
In most respects, this Snatch Game was like many others. Some performances were terrible, like Acid Betty’s Nancy Grace and Robbie Turner’s Diana Vreeland. Others were far more successful. Thorgy Thor nailed Michael Jackson’s mannerisms, for instance, while Chi Chi DeVayne channeled Eartha Kitt as Catwoman. But there was one wildly original queen who dominated the challenge. That would be Bob the Drag Queen, whose decision to portray two different characters more than paid off. Her impression of Uzo Aduba’s persona from “Orange is the New Black” was unbelievably spot-on. Then, she embodied the quirky actress and comedienne Carol Channing. Ultimately, though, Bob’s own incredible sense of humor was what shone through.
#4: Season 7
This season isn’t always remembered as a fan-favorite. However, its Snatch Game is undoubtedly one of the strongest of all time. Given how the challenge usually goes, the number of stellar performances was downright surprising Sure, we all remember two star-making performances: Ginger Minj as an oblivious Adele and Kennedy Davenport as a hooting Little Richard. But others were also very funny. For instance, we were treated to Katya’s chipper version of financial advisor Suze Orman. Even queens with less obvious senses of humor shone, though. For example, Pearl showed off her comedic chops with a truly ridiculous transformation into Big Ang.
#3: Season 6
The sixth edition of “Drag Race” was absolutely filled to the brim with personality. Since it aired, many of its alums have amassed huge followings and enjoyed successful careers. It isn’t surprising, then, that this talented bunch made for a hilarious Snatch Game. Three performances were simply top-tier. Bianca Del Rio channeled Judge Judy’s no-nonsense energy, and even brought along a puppet version of Officer Byrd. This was evenly matched with Adore Delano’s dazed interpretation of Anna Nicole Smith. But who could forget the episode’s winner, BenDeLaCreme? Her sassy and out-of-touch version of Maggie Smith pushed this Snatch Game into iconic territory.
#2: “All Stars” Season 7
A select few queens have won Snatch Game twice. BenDeLaCreme, Trinity The Tuck, and Ginger Minj all deserve a massive shout-out. But it’s hard to stand up against Jinkx Monsoon’s second winning performance as Judy Garland. From her extra-long microphone cable to the accuracy of her singing voice, every detail was perfect. And who could forget her message to Dave from season 5? Of course, there was plenty more to love about this showing. Trinity was hilarious as Leslie Jordan, while Raja showed she could go toe-to-toe with comedy queens. The fact that each queen had to portray two characters only made the episode more exciting. Clearly, they rose to the challenge.
#1: “All Stars” Season 2
This season set the bar for an all-star Snatch Game. Understandably, Alaska and Katya landed in the top. The former’s portrayal of Mae West was genius, with practically every line a razor-sharp zinger. While Alaska went for raunchiness, Katya went all-out weird in portraying the one-of-a-kind Björk. And that isn’t even mentioning the arguably scene-stealing performance of the week. Alyssa Edwards as Joan Crawford was absolutely outrageous, and we loved every second of it. With lines borrowed from “Mommie Dearest,” the performance turned a pop culture reference into something brand new. Sure, Roxxxy Andrews’s impression of Alaska was absolutely cringe-inducing. But the fact that it happened in front of the season’s winner only kept us entertained. What more could we ask for from “Drag Race”?
