The Best Destinations Around the World for Summer 2019
Vacation, all I ever wanted, vacation, had to get away. . . Welcome to MojoTravels and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the The Best Destinations Around the World for Summer 2019.

Peru
There’s nothing like a day in the Peruvian sun. From Machu Picchu to Saqsaywaman, the Republic of Peru is threaded through with ancient sites that’ll attract anyone with a passion for history and sightseeing. Hikers in particular will be on cloud nine upon encountering the Sacred Valley and its lush, green trails. If that’s not exhilarating enough for you, the 18th annual Pan American Games are taking place in Lima between July 26 and August 11, with over 6,000 athletes competing. For a genuine adventure, an Amazon Cruise will take you trekking through rainforests, kayaking across lagoons, and swimming alongside pink Amazon river dolphins.
Los Angeles
Theme parks are just one reason why Los Angeles is a go-to summer destination for many. Tourists flock to LA for its stunning beaches and ravishing shopping centers like Dover Street Market. West Hollywood is foodie central where culinary connoisseurs like Michael Cimarusti are all devising bold new cuisine. To satisfy that sweet tooth, make your way downtown to the Manufactory bakery. The Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and TCL Chinese Theatre all define why LA has developed a reputation as the City of Stars. There isn’t a better way to gaze at those stars than from your hotel balcony and with the Proper Hotel opening in Santa Monica this June, we’d recommend booking a room ASAP!
Asbury Park, New Jersey
If the Big Apple’s fast-paced lifestyle isn’t up your alley, take it easy in the laid back beach city of Asbury Park. New York may be renowned for its slices, but Porta in Asbury has the “best pizza in the country,” according to Tasting Table. While the Asbury Hotel is a strong contender for the city’s trendiest resort, the Asbury Ocean Club is bound to be all the rage this summer. The 17-story boutique hotel is set to open with 54 rooms, mixing the luxury of an urban apartment with the serenity of a beach house. Speaking of ocean views, there’s a tidal wave of hot spots to cool off, whether you’d rather hit the beach by the iconic boardwalk or frolic at Asbury Splash Park.
Newport, Rhode Island
Rhode Island may be America’s smallest state, but anyone who visits Newport will be living large. This resort town is decked with classy, old-fashioned mansions, some of which have been converted into hotels like the Vanderbilt, Auberge Resorts Collection. Newport isn’t just an architectural spectacle, but the Sailing Capital of the World as well. Taking place July 8th to the 13th, the 12 Metre World Championship unites yacht racers from around the globe, and there isn’t a better place to observe the festivities than at the Castle Hill Inn. You also won’t want to miss the performances from Thundercat, Dianne Reeves, and numerous others at the 65th Newport Jazz Festival, which runs August 2nd to the 4th. The City by the Sea knows how to do summer.
Puglia, Italy
The Puglia region is the heel of Italy, which is of course famous for its boot shape. While certainly not as recognizable as Rome or Venice, Puglia’s underappreciated status is exactly why you should take advantage of its quaint beaches and coastal towns. The capital, Bari, is a fascinating and bustling city, while the Baroque buildings of Lecce will have you marveling. Puglia’s phenomenal architecture extends to hotels like Masseria Torre Maizza, Palazzo Maritati e Muci, and Palazzo Bozzi Corso. Although the whole region has a timeless appeal to it, the Locus Festival will bring some funky modernity, from July 27th to August 14th, showcasing the musical talents of Lauryn Hill, Calcutta, and French Kiwi Juice.
Loire Valley, France
With its fine wine and vibrant landscapes, Loire Valley is a breathtaking place to visit any summer. 2019 is especially significant, however, as it marks the French Renaissance’s 500th anniversary. Aligning with Leonardo da Vinci’s death, this historic milestone will be celebrated through two period costume balls and other Renaissance-themed events. For a full Renaissance experience, we’d suggest reserving one of the 17 rooms at Hotel Château du Grand-Lucé, a renovated country home from the 18th century. The Vatican is even lending the copy of da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” on tapestry to the Château du Clos Lucé, giving visitors a prime opportunity to see this gold and silk triumph.
Okinawa, Japan
Okinawa prefecture is comprised of islands. Based on that description, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the summer season regularly attracts beachgoers for diving, finish, and sailing. If viewing the marine life at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Nago isn’t personal enough, you can always go on a whale watching tour near the Kerama Islands or swim with manta rays in Ishigaki. Those looking for an ocean view and nearby coral reefs to explore should visit Irabu Island and check into Iraph Sui, a Luxury Collection Hotel. And Okinawa’s cuisine is famously both delicious and healthy, so you’ll surely enjoy digging in.
Singapore
After seeing “Crazy Rich Asians” last year, Singapore likely became your dream destination for summer 2019. You’ll be happy to know that the Raffles Hotel, which made an appearance in the film, is reopening its doors on August 1 following a two-year overhaul. Raffles will be getting a few new restaurants, but until then you can fill up on the exquisite eats at the World’s 50 Best Restaurants gala on June 25. To work off those extra vacation pounds, take a brisk walk around the Singapore Botanic Gardens. As gorgeous as the plant life is, this city-state is also home to some alluring animals you can behold at the Singapore Zoo. Your trip wouldn’t be complete with riding the Singapore Flyer for an unparalleled view.
Kenya
Visiting a zoo is one thing, but talking a safari is a true adventure. You won’t find a more enthralling safari experience this summer than the Great Migration in Kenya where millions of wildebeest and zebras travel across the Maasai Mara and Tanzania’s Serengeti in July. Visitors of the Angama Mara safari lodge will be given a bird’s-eye view of the wildlife from a hot-air balloon. Of course, the lodge also offers walking safaris for those who prefer to stay on the ground. Another safari lodge that’ll captivate you is Sanctuary Olonana by Sanctuary Retreats located on the Mara River. Wherever you stay, Kenya will serve up wonder.
Washington, DC
It doesn’t get much more patriotic than watching Fourth of July fireworks in the United States capital. Washington, DC is home to some of the country’s most significant structures, from the White House, to the Lincoln Memorial, to the Washington Monument, which is reopening in August following extensive elevator repairs. Outside of the obvious landmarks, the International Spy Museum is open for business as of May 2019. The DC Jazz Festival is always a summer delight, as well as the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.. A stop at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum is also a must, as July 2019 coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11’s historic spaceflight and landing on the moon.
