Top 10 Anime Characters That Never Lose
VOICE OVER: Ashley Bowman WRITTEN BY: Garrett Alden
There's no point in rooting for these anime characters since they never lose. For this list, we’ll be going over the characters from anime, both heroes and villains, that never lose a fight or contest…with some minor exclusions. Our countdown includes Kusuo Saiki from “The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.” (2016-19), Takuto Tsunashi from “Star Driver” (2010-11), Shigeru Akagi from “Akagi” (2005-06), and more! Think we skipped over an undefeated anime champ? Let us know in the comments!

#10: Korosensei

“Assassination Classroom” (2015-16)

He may be a goofy, yellow octopus man, but Korosensei is borderline unkillable. Mutated in a disastrous experiment, this teacher is composed of antimatter, which renders him immune to most conventional forms of weaponry and gives him the ability to regenerate from any wounds. Not only that, but he can also move at speeds of around Mach 20, letting him dodge hails of bullets and fly around the world in no time flat. His class may have outwitted him on a few occasions, but his ultimate execution is still that of his own making. No one trips up the multi-tentacled educator.

#9: Takuto Tsunashi

“Star Driver” (2010-11)

While his catchphrase may be to remark on what a tight spot he’s in, this Galactic Pretty Boy is rarely in a jam for long. Not only is Takuto blessed with unfathomably good looks, the guy is also nearly unbeatable in battle. Possessing a powerful Cybody, or extradimensional mecha, Takuto manages to defeat every member of the villainous Glittering Crux Brigade that he goes up against. Even outside of Zero Time, Takuto still always comes out on top in contests and athletics. The Galactic Pretty Boy everybody.

#8: Ainz Ooal Gown

“Overlord” (2015-)

What happens when a level one hundred RPG player gets reincarnated in a world where anyone else is trailing at level thirty. This. This is what happens. Ainz Ooal Gown is possibly the strongest being in his new world. The undead overlord not only commands the unquestioning loyalty of his equally overpowered subordinates, but he also wields countless spells that can do everything from stalling time to wiping out an entire army in an instant! And even in the unlikely event that he did lose, his followers would just chalk it up to part of his master plan.

#7: Kid Muscle

“Ultimate Muscle” (2002-04)

He may come from a line of intergalactic wrestlers, but Mantaro Kinniku, or Kid Muscle in the dub, is surprisingly cowardly. He rarely jumps at the chance to fight. However, if he sees his foes playing dirty or the people he cares about are in danger, he’ll go all out using the powers of Ultimate Muscle, to take his opponents down to the mat, and likely break their bodies in the process. Despite his reluctance and goofy fighting style, Kid remains undefeated in the ring.

#6: Shigeru Akagi

“Akagi” (2005-06)

Gambling may involve leaving a lot to chance, but Akagi has more than just luck on his side. Nearly superhumanly skilled at games, particularly mahjong, Akagi uses intuition, deduction, and more than a little cheating, to overcome every opponent he faces. Willing to bet not only money, but also his own life, Akagi’s determination and guile allow him to conquer any challenge. The white-haired genius was already a legend at a young age, but his mythic status in the gambling scene and in the underworld has only increased as time has gone on.

#5: Tatsuya Shiba

“The Irregular at Magic High School” (2014-)

While initially considered an outcast given his background and way in which he uses magic, Tatsuya repeatedly and demonstrably proved himself the pinnacle of gun-wielding spellcasters. Skilled in magical engineering, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat, not to mention many broken special abilities that let him deconstruct matter, catch bullets, and other absurd feats, Tatsuya always wins. Good thing too, not like he was going to get anywhere in life with a personality made of cardboard.

#4: Kusuo Saiki

“The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.” (2016-19)

You won’t find a more powerful psychic anywhere. Easily able to teleport, use super strength, read people’s minds, manipulate matter, levitate and do pretty much anything else you can imagine, Saiki is beyond overpowered. While his series is primarily based around gags, there’s no shortage of times that Saiki has demonstrated his countless abilities to try and overcome the most mundane of problems. Keep in mind he’s doing all of this while having his powers artificially suppressed. Good grief.

#3: Mamoru Takamura

“Hajime no Ippo” (2000-14)

There are some skilled boxers in anime, but none of them have the untarnished record of this colossus of a man. Takamura’s eventual goal is to become the champion of every weight class. And with his track record so far, he’s well on his way! He’s defeated opponents using only his left hand, taken out champions like David Eagle and Bryan Hawk, even bare knuckle boxed a bear and won. Takamura is an absolute animal of a fighter, the weight of his pride matched by the force of his fists!

#2: Yujiro Hanma

“Baki” Franchise (2001-)

The strongest creature on Earth. The Ogre. These nicknames are well warranted for a man who’s basically a walking nuclear deterrent. The man’s muscles have muscles. He’s fought evenly with an entire division of the U.S. military. He killed and ate a giant African elephant. He once stopped an earthquake by punching it. These are not exaggerations – these are facts. So, when the Ogre steps into the ring with someone, it’s not a matter of if he can win – only when. Although Baki’a ultimate ambition is to defeat his monstrous father, the bar has been set impossibly high.

#1: Saitama

“One Punch Man” (2015-19)

In the annals of overpowered heroes, few can approach the undefeated status of Saitama. True to his show’s title, Saitama can defeat anyone in a single punch. This can range from a lone, non-lethal knockout punch to a serious blow, which can alter the weather across a hemisphere. Not only does Saitama have potent offense, but he’s also supernaturally durable, able to tank whatever comes his way. In his long career as a hero for fun, Saitama has never lost to anyone, and likely never will. To be honest we’re just waiting for him to punch out God.
