Top 10 Anime Team Battles
Some fights just can't be won alone. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Anime Team Battles.
For this, we'll be looking at the anime battles that involved a group of characters teaming up to take on a single threat. As long as its one-sided and there's clear collaboration going on, it's eligible. Be warned, plenty of these battles contain major spoilers, so a spoiler alert is now in effect.
#10: S-Class Heroes vs. Melzargard
“One Punch Man” (2015)
It’s often hard to forget, but there are other heroes operating in this world besides Saitama, and some of them are pretty damn strong at that. During an alien invasion, the likes of Tatsumaki, Metal Bat, Atomic Samurai and Bang get to show why they’re the best of the best. While everyone’s favourite green haired tornado manages to repel incoming projectiles like a boss, we see that even in his old age Bang is still worthy of carrying the name Silver Fang, cutting through the Dark Matter Thief Melzargard with ease.
#9: Date Masamune & Sanada Yukimura vs Oda Nobunaga
“Sengoku Basara” (2009-10)
Don’t go into this series thinking you’re about to witness a great historical drama. Instead, expect to see some of the craziest action scenes to the point where even Dragon Ball would be jealous. Putting their rivalries aside, Masamune and Yukimura take on the full might of one of history’s most infamous warlords…who in this iteration comes equipped with a demonic cape and double-barrelled shotgun. What follows is a mad but oh so entertaining blitz of a battle as these two finally overcome the Devil King by dropping from orbit and essentially exploding his palace.
#8: Everyone vs. 100th Floor Boss
“Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale” (2017)
In order to save the memories of all SAO players, Kirito and his allies are tasked with fighting the final boss that never was. And it’s a big one. While they get their asses handed to them at first, the arrival of all their old friends from previous games manages to give them the winning edge, especially when Yui grants them their overpowered SAO save data. Jokes aside, the slick animation ensures that this confrontation just might be the greatest thing to come out of the series. Hopefully they got a Platinum Trophy for their efforts.
#7: The Straw Hats vs. Oars
“One Piece” (1999-)
Even up against a giant zombie imbued with the powers of their captain, these pirates are hardly pushovers. As the one thing standing between them and their escape from the undead island of Thriller Bark, the Straw Hat crew don’t hesitate to lay down some serious damage on the ultimate zombie. Franky busts out his giant nunchaku, Brook gets launched like a missile and Zoro just does awesome shit like usual. Of course, the real kicker here is when Luffy makes a grand return, now looking a little beefier thanks to absorbing a hundred shadows. Oars really didn’t know who he was dealing with.
#6: Gon & Killua vs. Gaki
“Hunter x Hunter: The Last Mission” (2013)
They may be small, but by themselves these two young Hunters are as deadly as can be. Put them together and what do you get? A tag team that can’t be beaten. In order to save their fellow Hunters from the vengeful black ops group known as Shadow, both Gon and Killua take on the fiery force of the On user Gaki. The battle may be brief, but seeing this lethal duo unleash their signature Nen abilities with an elevator shaft serving as a battleground makes for quite the sight to see.
#5: Ryuko & Satsuki vs. Ragyo
“Kill la Kill” (2013-14)
You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family. After finding out that they are biological sisters, Ryuko and Satsuki team up to take on their beautiful yet psychotic mother, who…well…let’s just say she cares more for clothes than people. Busting out both of their Kamui’s, the two try to lay the smackdown on Ragyo atop the Primordial Life Fiber. Unfortunately for them, mommy dearest packs a hell of a wallop. That being said, no amount of parental punishment can stop the determination of two pissed off young women armed with giant swords.
#4: Alphonse vs. Kimblee & Pride
“Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” (2009-10)
Normally taking on the Crimson Alchemist and a Homonculus by themselves would already be a death sentence, but together? It would take a miracle to survive such an encounter. Luckily for Alphonse Elric, he’s got the next best thing in his possession; a Philosopher’s Stone. After accessing its power, Al is able to transmute at such a rapid and powerful rate that even a mass murderer and a giant shadow monster can’t hold him down. Goes to show that the younger Elric is not to be messed with.
#3: Midoriya, Todoroki & Iida Vs. Stain
“My Hero Academia” (2016-17)
Out of the tournament arc and into the fire, these young heroes learnt first hand that taking on the forces of evil isn’t as flashy as they may have thought. Coming face to face with the Hero Killer known as Stain, Midoriya, Todoroki and Iida find themselves in a desperate battle to defeat the murderer before he ends any more lives. Frantic and brutal in its execution, beautiful in is incorporation of Quirks, seeing the heroes of tomorrow taking on this idealistic monster managed to raise this epic shounen’s quality all the higher.
#2: The Seven Deadly Sins vs. Hendrickson
“The Seven Deadly Sins” (2014-15; 2018)
After casting aside his humanity in exchange for the power of a demon, former knight Hendrickson seeks to overthrow the monarchy of the Kingdom of Liones. Too bad he pissed off seven sinfully strong exiles in the process. While his overwhelming abilities does manage to practically erase every Holy Knight that comes at him, even Hendrickson pales compared to the awesomeness of the Dragon’s Sin of Wrath. After allowing himself to soak up damage from everyone, Meliodias successfully manages to land his Revenge Counter, and as a result puts the kibosh on the ash-grey monster.
#1: Everyone vs. Kaguya
“Naruto: Shippuden” (2007-17)
Her sudden appearance may have been a little on the rushed side, but at the very least we can say the Rabbit Goddess’s arrival gave us one hell of an action scene. With the fate of the shinobi world in the balance, Naruto and Sasuke unleash the power given to them by the Sage of the Six Paths, all the while Kakashi manages to really strut his stuff by creating his own Susanoo. Even Sakura gets in a few good shots! The only thing that could make this battle even crazier would be if Naruto tried to distract Kaguya by transforming into a reverse harem. Oh wait, he does.
