Top 10 Best Aidy Bryant SNL Performances

#10: 7th Grade Travel Expert, Carrie Krum
From Columbus, Ohio to Boise, Idaho, this middle schooler knows all the hot spots for your holiday travel plans. In this Weekend Update segment, Carrie spills all of her best suggestions and tips for travelling. Whenever Michael Che tries to get her to talk about some more relatable vacation spots, she always brings the conversation back to her family trips. In a hot pink windbreaker, Bryant brings the perfect amount of childlike enthusiasm to this role. Much like Bill Hader’s Stefon, Carrie can only recommend destinations that are extremely specific to her relatives, like her “Grammy’s cul-de-sac” and “Aunt Nancy’s house.”
#9: Tonker Bell
This twist on a beloved Disney character is full of attitude. As a substitute for Peter Pan’s fairy friend, Bryant is green-screened into the sketch as Tinker Bell’s half-sister, Tonker Bell. This fairy isn’t as interested in helping Peter and the Darling children. She’s “half-fly, half-fairy,” and she makes it crystal clear that she answers to no one but herself. Bryant steals the scene with some hilarious catchphrases and insults each time she appears as “Tonk”. It’s impressive to see how her delivery makes this character so memorable.
#8: Bunny
When it’s a late night at the bar, you’re bound to meet some interesting characters. In this sketch, a group of friends are sharing their dating woes before they’re given some unorthodox advice by Bunny. She’s a chef at a men’s prison who spends her evenings catfishing men as a Japanese bikini model, and enjoys a whisky milk, neat. Even though Bunny is unable to relate to these women, Bryant brings a hilarious amount of charm to this strange character, and grabs audiences’ attention with some fantastic lines. Surprisingly, her input actually inspires two of the girls to get back out there.
#7: Camp Wicawabe
With no parents around to tell them what to do, these kids have been making the most of their summer. In this news segment sketch, Bryant and Kate McKinnon play Cambria and Piper, two trouble-making campers who discuss the fun activities they’ve been getting up to. Andy Samberg makes an appearance as Jeremy, Cambria’s cool, older cousin who’s been pulling some crazy pranks. Bryant is extremely convincing as a 10-year old, especially when it’s clear that the girls don’t understand anything Jeremy is talking about. They’re totally oblivious about why his pranks are so strange, but their innocence just makes things even funnier.
#6: Booty Rap
Even if it’s a strange flirting technique, Bryant had the opportunity to show off her rap skills with Chris Pratt in this sketch. Bryant plays Cheryl, a shy woman who approaches a cute guy across the bar when her friends encourage her to make a move. In the style of Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda,” Bryant launches into a rap without missing a beat. She returns to her friends in a panic about what to say next, and they seem a bit unsure about her topic of choice. Seeing Pratt and Bryant deliver these saucy lyrics without a moment of hesitation in contrast with their timid conversation makes them even better.
#5: Steakhouse
This isn’t the only skit where Bryant has played a character with two broken arms. In the episode hosted by Seth Rogen, Bryant plays a woman with an unfortunate injury after she falls down an escalator. As her husband, Rogen is tasked with being her hands because she can barely move. This sets up plenty of absurd interactions when they try to enjoy a normal dinner with their friends. When he tries to feed her a massive slab of steak, Bryant and Rogen can’t keep a straight face after she asks him to “cut it.” To top it all off, the southern accent the actors have to put on makes it even harder to get through this sketch without breaking.
#4: Sarah Huckabee Sanders
Impressions of American politicians have always been a staple of SNL, but Bryant has had a diverse range of parodies as this press secretary. From cold opens to sleep aid commercials, Bryant emulates this politician’s controversial statements and southern drawl with great confidence. Bryant portrayed Sanders when she stood in for and eventually replaced Sean Spicer as the White House press secretary, which began in 2017. Sanders was known for her confrontational interactions with reporters for the Trump administration, prompting a short featuring Demi Lovato’s “Confident”.
#3: Aidy B & Cardi B
With this sketch, it’s no surprise Bryant received an Emmy nomination in 2018. When Cardi B was announced as a musical guest on the show, the cast member was excited to write a sketch for the rapper and was inspired by the similarity between their names. In this pre-recorded short, Aidy decides that she needs to channel Cardi’s assertiveness, and takes it out on the rest of the cast and crew. She even seems nervous to meet the host, Chadwick Boseman, before she proves that she’s [“not afraid of him...”] The contrast between Bryant’s sweet and friendly personality and her aggressive rants is sidesplitting, especially when the rest of the cast are confused about her newfound empowerment. Best of all, she even sits down with Cardi herself and is convinced that they’re best friends.
#2: Morgan on “Girlfriends Talk Show”
Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong play Morgan and Kyra, two supposed best friends who are the co-hosts of their talk show. Unfortunately, Morgan always ends up in the shadow of Kyra’s guest, played by the host of the episode. Whether it’s the new girl at school or the new drama teacher, the guest’s presence makes Morgan feel uncomfortable and defensive. Her less-than-cool topics get pushed aside for whatever Kyra wants to talk about, and Morgan gets more and more upset throughout the episode. It’s clear that she’s a bit shy, sheltered, and just doing her best to keep up. Bryant is spot on with Morgan’s insecurity and brings hilarious tension to the scene.

#1: Melanie
When Melanie meets her friend’s dad for the first time, let’s just say she has an awakening. According to Bryant, the idea for the sketch took off when she saw Drake for the first time at a pitch meeting. It’s amazing that the cast has made it through these scenes without bursting into laughter, because Melanie’s antics can get pretty inappropriate. Some of the teen’s highlights include Bryant trying to kiss Drake and eating frosting off of Ryan Gosling’s finger. In an effort to impress the dad, Bryant perfectly pulls off the attitude of a kid trying to act more mature. We know who won’t be invited back to a slumber party any time soon.
