Top 10 Rita Ora Songs
Few pop stars have been as hot as this one in recent years! Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Rita Ora Songs.
For this list, we will be excluding songs where Rita Ora appears solely as a featured artist such as Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow”, however we will be including her collaboration with Avicii as it appeared on her 2018 album “Phoenix”.
#10: “R.I.P.” feat. Tinie Tempah
Ora (2012)The lead single off of “Ora”, “R.I.P.” combines elements of R&B with dubstep for a sound that is truly unique. The song debuted atop the UK Singles Chart when it was released in May of 2012, was met with praise from critics and even had one music reviewer label it a “thrusting, compelling ode to lost love." Fun fact: the song was actually written by Drake for Rihanna. It must not have been to the Barbados Queen’s liking, however, and was passed off to Rita Ora who ended up making a hit!
#9: “Shine Ya Light”
Ora (2012)Peaking at number 10 on the UK Singles Chart “Shine Ya Light” was the third single released off of Rita Ora’s debut album. The music video for the song, which features Ora singing, dancing and interacting with various members of the public, was shot in Pristina, Kosovo, Ora’s birth town. The song fits perfectly with the rest of the album’s tracks, a synth-heavy party song that is both inspirational and lighthearted. “Shine Ya Light” proves yet again that Rita Ora’s music is not confined to one particular genre.
#8: “Anywhere”
Phoenix (2018)Steering Ora towards a new, fresh sound is “Anywhere”, the second single off of her second studio album. Released through her new label Atlantic Records UK, the song is a mixture of dance and electro pop and was inspired by Ora’s desire to take a road trip with her friends in order to escape Los Angeles for a little while. The wanderlust-laden lyrics aren’t hard to decipher, as Ora croons “take me anywhere” and “I know we’ve got to get away”. The song received widespread critical acclaim and was featured heavily on music charts around the world. At its core “Anywhere” is all about letting go, having fun and enjoying life. We can dig it.
#7: “Radioactive”
Ora (2012)The final single released off of her 2012 debut studio album, “Radioactive” mustn’t be confused with the Imagine Dragons song of the same name. Of course Rita’s version is a lot easier to dance to, and isn’t that what music is all about? Co-written by industry hit-maker Sia Furler, the song features a thumping, climbing beat and some seriously fun lyrics; part of the reason it made it to number 18 on the UK music charts. While some will call it another club song, we call it just another awesome club song; a genre Rita Ora has seemingly mastered.
#6: “Poison” (2015)
One of four successful singles released between her first and second studio albums, “Poison” can best be described as a pop love song, with Rita Ora clearly in a state of electric passion. The song’s hook gives us a little taste of what exactly she’s feeling, with lyrics like “I picked my poison and it’s you” and “You’re goin’ straight to my head”. The song was met with acclaim upon release, with one critic calling it a “fiery foot-stomper”; something we couldn’t be more on board with. It’s song like this one that make it abundantly clear Rita Ora needs to be included when discussing pop’s biggest stars.
“Let You Love Me”
Phoenix (2018)Despite all the huge hits we’ve seen thus far, “Let You Love Me” has quickly become one of Ora’s most beloved tracks to date. Garnering over 250 million views on YouTube since it’s release in September of 2018, the addictive electropop jam is her 13th song to break the UK top ten. With this feat, Rita Ora enters the UK history books, breaking a record for the most top ten songs by a female solo artist! Seems like she’s definitely let a lot of people love THIS song, as it continues to do numbers around the globe.
#4: “Your Song”
Phoenix (2018)The lead single off of her second studio album, “Your Song” is easily one of Ora’s most commercially successful tracks to date. Written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac, “Your Song” cracked the top 20 in a whopping 15 countries and went platinum in 9. The upbeat track is a ton of fun to listen to regardless of whether you’re alone, cruising in a car with some friends or busting a move at your favorite club. Girl’s got skills, plain and simple.
#3: “Body On Me” feat. Chris Brown (2015)
A pop infused R&B track, “Body On Me’s” music video features a number of steamy scenes between Ora and guest artist Chris Brown. The song was released as a single in August of 2015 and despite failing to crack the UK Singles Chart Top 20, the accompanying video has still managed to rack up more than 175 million views on YouTube. It’s clear from the get-go that Ora and Brown have no shortage of chemistry between them, truly making it feel like they’re singing about each other. Hopefully they hook up again soon, as we think the two of them make a pretty sweet musical duo.
#2: “How We Do (Party)”
Ora (2012)One of the first songs that helped introduce Rita Ora to the world back in 2012, “How We Do (Party)” was the perfect example of what was to come from the then-still-on-the-rise pop star. As you’ve probably already guessed, the track is all about having a good time, letting loose and reveling in the glory that is your youth. Unsurprisingly this appealed to a wide number of people and “How We Do (Party)” made it all the way to number one in the UK. Keep this song in your back pocket for the next time you want to get your party jumping!
Before we unveil our top pick, here are some honorable mentions:
“Lonely Together”
Phoenix (2018)
“Roc the Life”
Ora (2012)
“Falling To Pieces”
Phoenix (2018)
#1: “I Will Never Let You Down” (2014)
One of 2014’s biggest hits and by extension one of Rita Ora’s highest achievements, “I Will Never Let You Down” was met with praise from both fans and critics alike, with one reviewer calling her vocals “stunning” before likening her to Jessie J and Beyoncé. The song made it to number one on both the UK Singles chart and the US Dance Club Songs chart en route to a platinum certification in Rita Ora’s home country of Great Britain. The fun loving pop track features an uber-catchy chorus and sultry-voiced Ora singing her heart out. The future is definitely bright with this one!
