Top 10 Best Squidward Moments Ever

Top 10 Best Squidward Moments Ever
VOICE OVER: Phoebe de Jeu WRITTEN BY: Joey Turner
The greatest Squidward moments are all sweet victories in our book. Our countdown includes "This one's on the house," Squidward's first Krabby Patty, scolding Mr. Krabs, and more!

#10: Scolding Mr. Krabs
“Born Again Krabs”

The Flying Dutchman has come for Mr. Krabs’ soul, and SpongeBob’s the only one to stand up for his boss… only to be traded to the Dutchman for 62 cents. Completely dumbstruck by what just happened, Squidward does something completely unexpected – he gives Krabs the verbal smackdown he deserves. He doesn’t hold back chewing out his boss’ greediness – heavily emphasizing how this crustaceous cheapskate sold out his most loyal employee, until he’s in tears. We all know how much Squidward can’t stand SpongeBob, so you know you messed up when it’s HIM of all fish-people to stand up for the little yellow weirdo.

#9: SpongeBob’s ‘Final’ Hours
“Dying for Pie”

For “Employee Brotherhood Day”, Squidward accidentally gives SpongeBob a pie-shaped bomb as a gift… and thinks that SpongeBob ate it. With the little fry cook’s time seemingly running out, Squidward goes out of his way to give SpongeBob the best final hours ever. He indulges in every humiliating, ridiculous activity on the little square dude’s friendship list, ending with the two of them watching the sunset together. Of course, it turns out that SpongeBob never ate the bomb, meaning that the whole ordeal was for nothing. Regardless, it was still sweet of Squidward to give his annoying neighbor a happy day out –even if it was mostly out of guilt.

#8: Some Well-Deserved Revenge
“Krusty Towers”

Mr. Krabs has turned the Krusty Krab into a hotel that prides itself on customer service. Unfortunately, that means that poor Squidward is forced to answer the ridiculous demands of the hotel’s only guest, Patrick. Finally pushed to the limit, the overworked cephalopod quits… but the story doesn’t end there. Immediately afterward, he returns as a guest and gives Krabs a taste of his own medicine by working him to the bone with hilariously absurd requests. Considering how much Squidward is mistreated almost daily, it’s really satisfying to see him get some well-earned revenge for once. Plus, it really shows that Mr. Krabs should just stick to the restaurant business.

#7: The Great Snowball War
“Snowball Effect”

Snow has come to Bikini Bottom, and once again, SpongeBob and Patrick end up disturbing Squidward with their hijinks. They try to get him to join their snowball fight, and of course, he isn’t remotely interested… though he does like the idea of the two idiots knocking each other’s brains out. Finally, after getting pelted by too many snowballs, he finally snaps and fights back… and he actually enjoys himself. It’s a joy to see the normally uptight Squidward cut loose and genuinely have fun for a change, and it’s made even funnier when he takes extreme measures to win the war - even though he’s the only one still playing.

#6: Squidward’s First Krabby Patty
“Just One Bite”

Squidward seems to be the only one in Bikini Bottom who doesn’t like Krabby Patties –but that’s only because he’s never tasted one. After SpongeBob drags him into a “Green Eggs and Ham” scenario, the grumpy cashier finally tastes his very first patty. While he tries to deny it… he can’t resist; he quickly becomes addicted to the blessed burger. Unfortunately, his newfound love for Krabby Patties gets the better of him when he eats so many that he explodes. Despite the gruesome ending, it was nice to see Squidward try something new… even if it was kind of bad for him.

#5: Handsome!
“The Two Faces of Squidward”

Squidward ends up hospitalized after getting slammed in the face with a door - compliments of SpongeBob and Patrick, naturally. When he’s discharged, however, it turns out that freak accident made Squidward incredibly handsome. Soon, all of Bikini Bottom is swooning over Squidward and while it seems fun at first, it gets old when the townsfolk become too invasive. SpongeBob tries to help put things right, but his efforts only make Squidward MORE handsome… bringing to life one of the series’ most iconic memes. Internet culture aside, this was a funny eye-opener for Squidward – showing him that being in the limelight isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

#4: Squidward’s Marching Band
“Band Geeks”

Squidward’s really gotten himself in a bind this time – in an effort to one-up his rival, Squilliam Fancyson, he lies about having a band to perform at the Bubble Bowl. He then rallies the townsfolk together to try and make them into a real band… with no success. He tearfully throws in the towel, but on the day of the big show, he gets an unexpected surprise. The townsfolk – inspired by SpongeBob - belt out a heart-pumping performance of “Sweet Victory”; it’s met with thunderous applause. While they had a rocky start, the Bikini Bottomites were there for the grumpy clarinet player when he needed them most, reminding us that even he deserves to be happy.

#3: Journey Through Time
“SB-129”

All Squidward wants to do is practice his clarinet in peace, but two certain annoying neighbors want him to go Jellyfishing with them. To try and escape, Squidward accidentally locks himself in the Krusty Krab’s freezer… only to wake up 2,000 years in the future. He uses a time machine and ends up traveling to the primordial past, and then an eerie, empty world. This frightening journey really puts things into perspective for Squidward – no matter how annoying SpongeBob and Patrick are, putting up with them is definitely better than stumbling through the time stream or being trapped in an empty void. Also, Squidward may have inadvertently invented Jellyfishing –don’t you just love irony?

#2: “This One’s On the House”
“Pizza Delivery”

Squidward and SpongeBob have traversed half the ocean trying to deliver a Krabby Patty pizza. SpongeBob is determined to bring the customer their food, while Squidward couldn’t care less –as usual. However, when they finally arrive, the customer is actually an entitled jerk who moans over not getting a drink that he didn’t even order. SpongeBob is in tears over ‘failing’ a customer, but Squidward isn’t having any of that. He gives the customer a piece of his mind, and a pizza slammed right in his face. Once again, a touching reminder that no matter how much SpongeBob annoys him, Squidward still cares about his overenthusiastic coworker –enough to put anyone who makes him cry in their place.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

Playing with a Reef Blower
“Squidville”

Squidward’s Apology
“Fools in April”

Squidward Trades Everything He Owns for a Piece of Paper
“The Paper”

Fixing SpongeBob’s Gap
“Mind the Gap”

#1: Santa Squid
“Christmas Who?”

Everyone in Bikini Bottom is excited about the town’s very first Christmas… all except for a certain grouchy squid. However, when SpongeBob gives him a heartwarming present, Squidward repays his kindness in spades. He dresses up as Santa Claus to bring some holiday cheer to the little weirdo… but he doesn’t stop there. To keep up the joyful charade, he ends up giving everything he owns away… just because he wanted SpongeBob to be happy. He could’ve just dropped the act after cheering SpongeBob up, but he kept it going and brought Christmas joy to the entire town –even if it cost him everything. This is definitive proof that Squidward is more than just a cynical slacker.
