Having this much style isn’t even fair. Welcome to MsMojo and today, we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Blake Lively Style Moments.
For this list, we’re focusing on the American actress’ red carpet style - so there won’t be any street style looks here.
#10: Variety’s Power of Women: New York
2017
Red carpet style doesn’t always mean a ball gown. Lively proved that a jumpsuit can be just as chic when she wore this forest green Brandon Maxwell look to Variety’s Power of Women Event. The jewel tone is a perfect compliment to her skin tone and blonde locks, and the asymmetrical heart shaped neckline adds a touch of drama to the outfit without being over the top. Meanwhile, the flare on the pants and the sleeves of her blazer give her a slight '70s look that’s both timeless and cool.
#9: Met Gala
2013
The Met Gala is one of the biggest nights in fashion with every attendee pulling out all the stops, which sometimes leads to guests looking as if they’re wearing a costume they can’t quite pull off. Instead of attempting an obvious, and perhaps cheesy variation of 2013's punk theme, Blake did it her own way with this Gucci Première gown. The simple strapless neckline bleeds down into an unexpected feathered look with silver accents, while the cut of the black silk fabric of her dress gives off a layered effect. A true punk is always herself, just like
#8: Met Gala
2016
With the 2016 Met Gala being her sixth gala when including her 2008 debut, Lively proved that she’s an old pro when it comes to choosing looks to land herself on everyone’s best dressed lists. In this blush pink Burberry ensemble, she brings new meaning to the words “maternity chic”, as she was pregnant with her second child at the time of the event. The strapless organza and chiffon number looked like a dream with the detachable overlay cape. The embroidered red flowers scattered over the bottom half of the gown and at the top of her bodice add another feminine touch to tie it together.
#7: Golden Heart Awards
2014
There to support Michael Kors at the 2014 Golden Heart Awards, Blake shimmered and shined in one of his creations. The simple long-sleeved gown was the perfect choice to debut her first baby bump and she looked like the picture of health and happiness in it. The nude and purple detailing showed off her natural glow and everything about the look just worked. She looked unfussy and fun with her blonde locks in loose beach waves, which went well with her dangly earrings.
#6: “Savages” L.A. Premiere
2012
Blake has always been someone who can channel Old Hollywood effortlessly, and that’s no exception with the gown she wore to the “Savages” premiere. The nude and black Zuhair Murad dress was form-fitting and created almost an optical illusion with the way the black lines zigged and zagged all over the dress. They outlined her shape to give her the most flattering silhouette imaginable. Paired with her Veronica Lake inspired locks and the simple red lipstick, Blake owned the red carpet.
#5: “Age of Adaline” Premiere After-Party
2015
Another jumpsuit, another killer red carpet look. For the New York after-party for her 2015 film the “Age of Adaline,” Blake changed into this unexpected and sexy outfit with this sheer Monique Lhuillier piece. Just like the runway version, Blake proved that you can be sexy with just the suggestion of skin. The black blazer covers up most of her body but the high slit on the hip and the plunging neckline give the look drama. The stars on the sheer bodysuit are playful, making this look equal parts daring and fun.
#4: 61st Primetime Emmy Awards
2009
Blake did not come to play with her 2009 Emmy Awards look. No, the “Gossip Girl” actress made jaws drop with this fire engine red form-fitting Versace gown. From the plunging v-shaped neckline to slight slit and the open back, Lively had the perfect skin to fabric ratio that kept this look from showing too much. Because the dress was so daring, she made the right move in keeping her hair simple with a fishtailed ponytail, and minimal jewelry with just earrings and a bracelet for adornment.
#3: Cannes “The Captive” Red Carpet Premiere
2014
Cannes is the perfect setting for red carpet drama, and Blake is someone who knows how to deliver. The black and white tuxedo-style Gucci Première ball gown made her look both modern and like an Old Hollywood star, which is an impressive feat. The white skirt gave the look volume and created an enviable silhouette that photographed beautifully. Blake knows that simple is the best statement and she let the dress speak for itself by keeping her hair pulled back in a low bun with her red lip and smoky eye as an accent. Her jewelry game was also on point with stunning Lorraine Schwartz earrings.
#2: Cannes Film Festival
2016
Truly one of her most unforgettable looks, Blake looked like a real-life version of Elsa from “Frozen” in this body-hugging baby blue Versace gown. From the shimmery bodice to the thigh high slit to the flowing train, Blake worked this look from head to toe to accent her slight baby bump. The one-shoulder neckline was a switch-up from her usual style and it paid off to give her another point of interest at her collarbone. With her sexy T-strap silver heels and her snake-like ring and bracelet piece, she looked fierce and confident.
Before we unveil our number one pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
BAFTA Brits to Watch, Belasco Theatre
2011
“Green Lantern” L.A. Premiere
2011
“Slack Bay” Premiere
2016
#1: Met Gala
2014
With numerous stunning moments from the Met Gala over the years, it feels like the event was made just for her. In this form-fitting champagne-colored Gucci gown, Blake had all eyes on her. The gown came to life due to its intricate beading, which perfectly accented her glowing skin. The cape on her back extended into a wonderful train and made her look as if she were floating. With her softly waved hair and red lips, she again gave us a timeless look. It’s hard to believe that she doesn’t use a stylist but we’ve come to expect so much from the star and can’t wait to see what she does next.
