#10: “Let's Go” feat. Ne-Yo
18 Months (2012)
Ever just feel like letting go? Enlisting the help of R&B/Pop singer Ne-Yo, Calvin Harris' single calls to action all those that just want to live for the moment. The collaboration between these two megastars was just crazy enough to work, as Calvin's heart-pulsing mix worked as the perfect blend for Ne-Yo's soulful vocals. Achieving platinum status in Australia, Canada and Sweden, this 2012 banger proved that simplicity can go a long way in music.
#9: “Thinking About You” feat. Ayah Marar
18 Months (2012)
The best love songs are the ones that take us back to a simpler time with that special someone. This heartfelt ballad tends to have that effect as featured singer Ayah Marar sings sweet lyrics about the one she'll always hold dear above anyone else. Despite the song's mellow tone, the song's groovy chorus still enables you to move your hips to the feel good track, while the song’s music video will have you cautious to take a vacation anytime soon.
#8: “Sweet Nothing” feat. Florence Welch
18 Months (2012)
Who would have thought that the dramatic vocals of Florence Welch would work on an EDM song? We’re certainly happy that Calvin Harris did! A feel good track through and through, “Sweet Nothing” effectively jettisoned Calvin to #1 on charts in both the U.S. and U.K.. The allure of this song is how it makes you feel almost 100 different emotions at once, but still keeps you moving right to the end of the track.
#7: “Blame” feat. John Newman
Motion (2014)
When this track comes on, whatever happens tonight, happens. Its all about the build up with this track, with its slow pulsing beat right up until the explosive drop. Of course, the impact of it all wouldn't be anything without the masterful vocals of John Newman. Newman's lyrics capture the sole essence of light-minded nightlife with this party song and you'll have no choice but to sing along once the chorus hits.
#6: “Acceptable in the 80s”
I Created Disco (2007)
What wasn't there to like about the '80s? Well in this cleverly old-school inspired song, Calvin has a few choice words about the fashion choices, hairstyles, and overall eccentric vibe of the time period. The classic synthesizer sound is nothing short of infectious, as is the funky bassline which will have you wanting to bust out into your favorite '80s dance move. Don't fret 80's babies, Calvin still has love for you all.
#5: “Bounce” feat. Kelis
18 Months (2012)
Step one to making a successful pop track, make it really simple to follow. 'Bounce' builds off not only being a fun song, but a track that fits almost any mood you're in. The lead single off of Calvin's third album was accompanied by pop star Kelis, who lays down some serious vocal work that compliments the track’s “bouncy” nature. The classic NES sound effects splashed into the beat also gave the track on old-school feel all listeners could appreciate, making this a stand out track amongst Harris’ seemingly countless hits.
#4: “I Need Your Love” feat. Ellie Goulding
18 Months (2012)
Ellie Goulding further proves that her melodic yet unique voice is perfect for electronic music. Calvin Harris churned out yet another banger with this 2012 track, which shot to number 1 on the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart. The song also speaks volumes to that of love, relationships, and freeing oneself from their own mind, which seems to be a common theme throughout Harris’ music. The tune, which depicts the two musicians as a romantic couple was also nominated for the MTV Music Video Award for Best Collaboration and Best Song of the Summer in 2013.
#3: “Summer”
Motion (2014)
An ode to the most coveted season of the year, “Summer” was the perfect single to jump start this artist's fourth solo effort. Calvin's summer anthem kept the 2014 season alive, as the DJ took to the mic himself this time around to voice this romantic laid-back jam. The lyrics in this song are kept light, but they still serve to bring us back to our most memorable summer fling.
#2: “Feel So Close”
18 Months (2012)
Have you ever came across a new track that you just instantly dubbed a classic? 'Feel So Close' tended to have that affect on critics and pop charts around the world. This track saw Calvin breaking his own promise of not singing on his own songs, but the overall reception to the single would lead him to believe it was the right choice. Much like all of Calvin's singles, 'Feel So Close' is an easy floor filler everyone could get down to.
