VOICE OVER: Phoebe de Jeu WRITTEN BY: Nathan Sharp
These crazy interviewer evokes strong reactions from his guests. For this list, we'll be looking at the funniest reactions that famous people have given to Nardwuar's famous questions. Our countdown includes Seth Rogen, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Uzi Vert, and more!

#10: Seth Rogen

With Seth Rogen, you know exactly what you’ll be getting - lots of deep, guttural laughing. And that’s exactly what he delivers. Nardwuar brings up many fascinating topics, like his mother being a cashier at Woodward’s and the specific stickers that he had in his bedroom. You know, really creepy stuff that a stranger should not know. Rogen goes beet red and laughs after every question, clearly amazed at the depth of Nardwuar’s research. The best part comes when Nardwuar mentions T.J. Roberts and seemingly unlocks a memory deep within Rogen’s mind. You know the research is impeccable when the subject doesn’t even remember it!

#9: Ugly God

Just imagine this. You’re an up and coming rapper, you go to conduct another interview (probably your tenth of the day), and the interviewer brings up the exact minute of your birth. This is the magic of Nardwuar. Nardwuar blows Ugly God’s mind by correctly stating the time of his birth and bringing up his childhood friend, among other personal pieces of information. Ugly God takes it all in stride, but it’s clear that he is very uncomfortable with Nardwuar. Uncomfortable or impressed, we’re not really sure. Probably a combination of the two.

#8: Whitney Cummings

At one point during this interview, Whitney Cummings asks Nardwuar if he just finds “the most esoteric things” to ask his subjects. And the answer to that is - yes. Isn’t it great? Her question came about after Nardwuar reminded her about a movie that she did called “Why Men Go Gay in L.A.” - a movie she seemingly forgot all about. Each response from Cummings is better than the last, as she gets increasingly amazed and flabbergasted at Nardwuar’s knowledge. She admits as much at the end, claiming that it was unlike any interview she had ever conducted. We could tell. The body language says it all.

#7: Kendrick Lamar

For this interview, Nardwuar brings up many aspects about Kendrick Lamar’s upbringing in Compton. And it really starts to get to him. He impresses Lamar with various Compton hotspots that the rapper visited as a child, including the neighborhood Rite-Aid and his old chicken joint. But the fun and games end when Nardwuar brings up an old friend of Lamar’s from the seventh grade. Lamar can only turn to a friend offscreen in disbelief and stare at Nardwuar with a very suspicious glare. It’s almost like he’s sizing him up, wondering just how and where he got his information. Even at the end of the interview, Lamar is still questioning how Nardwuar knows about his childhood friend. Of course, he doesn’t answer.

#6: David Cross

Some Nardwuar interviews cross the line from funny and richly informative to genuinely uncomfortable.. This interview with David Cross was one of them. Going all the way back to 2009, it begins harmlessly enough. Cross is impressed with Nardwuar’s questions and admires his deep research with a jovial laugh. But then things get weird. Cross quickly grows more defensive and starts demanding to know where Nardwuar got his information. He never grows unfriendly, but his tone and body language suggest that he is very uncomfortable and creeped out. Cross claimed that he’d get his answers when the cameras were turned off. We wonder if he ever did…

#5: Machine Gun Kelly

And here we have the exact opposite - deep research being used not to creep out, but to bring incredible joy. The best part about this interview is the beginning. Talk about starting with a bang! Nardwuar gives Kelly an autographed record, and Kelly glances up at the camera in complete surprise. He looks like a child who just got a PlayStation for Christmas. He genuinely can’t believe what he is seeing. As he soon tells Nardwuar, he’s never publicly stated that he enjoys that specific band. So how did Nardwuar know? Well, that’s the magic, isn’t it? At one point, Kelly even grows so overwhelmed that he stops speaking and hugs Nardwuar. It’s actually quite touching.

#4: Post Malone

Top 10 Times Post Malone Was Awesome

Post has always seemed like the chillest dude, and that perception continues throughout this interview. Nardwuar brings up numerous people from Post Malone’s past, including men named Kyle, Jason, and Brendan. Post only laughs and asks Nardwuar how he knows them. This is the general theme throughout the interview - Nardwuar brings up something crazy, Post goes red and laughs in a friendly manner, and then he simply answers the question. He’s certainly curious about Nardwuar and his deep well of knowledge, but he’s never uncomfortable, and the interview never gets awkward. Post is just enjoying the Nardwuar experience, and it’s really fun to watch.

#3: Pharrell Williams

For this interview, Nardwuar sits down with both Pharrell Williams and Shay Haley, who were part of the hip hop group N.E.R.D. But the magic of this video mostly belongs to Pharrell. Nardwuar shows Pharrell numerous vinyl albums, and he gets increasingly amazed at the reveals. He can barely conduct the interview and chooses instead to compliment Nardwuar, his gifts, and his impeccable research. The best part is when Nardwuar shows Pharrell “The Rump Shaker,” which literally causes Pharrell to be speechless. He simply stares at Haley and then Nardwuar in complete disbelief before once again complimenting Nardwuar’s skills. He’s so humble and amazed, and it makes for a really charming interview.

#2: Lil Uzi Vert

And here we have the memeist reaction in Nardwuar history. Things begin innocently enough, but everything goes haywire once the Rob Zombie poster is revealed. Nardwuar proudly gives the poster to Lil Uzi Vert, who simply screeches into the microphone for a solid eight seconds. The rapper is clearly distressed by the poster and begins to question Nardwuar’s motives and source of information. Nardwuar then brings up Guns Garcia, and Lil Uzi Vert looks at him in complete astonishment before, quite literally, ducking under the camera and running away. Cue Nardwuar hilariously chasing the singer-songwriter out of the stadium. It’s gut-busting stuff, and it may be the greatest conclusion to a Nardwuar interview.

#1: Snoop Dogg

Also in:

Top 10 Times Snoop Dogg Was Awesome

And here we have the greatest interview ever conducted by Nardwuar. Not necessarily for the information or reactions, but for the friendly atmosphere. Of course, it also contains some fantastic reactions. The greatest comes when Nardwuar reveals an old VHS of Snoop Dogg’s dating back to 1996. Snoop seems genuinely touched by the gift and shows a ton of pride in it. He talks about it for quite some time and is deeply appreciative of Nardwuar for digging it up. He even claims that he has been desperately searching for it, but to no avail. Such is the beauty of Nardwuar - he works hard, he finds long-lost treasures, and he brings unspeakable joy to his interview subjects.
