#10: Channing Tatum

When one of the first answers to a question on an AMA talks about having sex with Danny DeVito, you know you’re in for a wild ride. In June 2015, Channing Tatum, the hunk from “Magic Mike” and many other movies, answered inquiries ranging from the serious, such as topics regarding his career, to the outlandish, such as who he’d sleep with, Marry and Kill between 3 male celebs. He also answered personal questions, and even told us that his penis’ name is Gilbert, because that’s apparently something we all needed to know. Perhaps his best comment was an anecdote about pooping in a blizzard, which led to his poo being frozen before it hit the ground. That’s Reddit for you.

#9: Bill Gates

Bill Gates must love the wacky adventures of Reddit, because he’s done a total of three AMAs, each one better than the last. The questions Gates gets are a little more loaded than typical AMAs, and include heavy topics such as the ambitions of Microsoft, vaccinations, and America’s education system, among many others. That’s not to say that Bill doesn’t answer more personal questions. Through his various AMAs, we’ve learned that he still does his own dishes and takes his kids on “fun” tours of garbage dumps and power plants. Smart and knowledgeable, if Mr. Gates is doing an AMA, you’ll surely want to be a part of it.

#8: Elon Musk

Elon Musk is the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Motors, co-founder of Zip2 and PayPal, and has put forward the ideas of a high-speed transportation system called Hyperloop and an electric supersonic jet. In short, the guy is a badass. However, if you thought Bill’s AMA was loaded, wait until you read Musk’s from early 2015. His answers include a lot of scientific jargon like residual propellant, monster boost stages, and pitch trim. If you have no idea what those mean, don’t worry, we don’t either. But, if you have even the slightest interest in the future of technology and revolutionary ideas, then a Musk AMA is a must-participate, or at least a must-read.

#7: Bill Murray

Bill Murray is one of Hollywood’s biggest legends, so you could imagine the surprise when the Reddit community discovered he would be doing an AMA in January 2014. He definitely did not disappoint, and surprisingly, kept things mostly serious, only rarely using his trademark humor. His answers were also long and filled with information, a rarity for an AMA. Highlights include the story behind the “Garfield” movie and Snoop Dogg’s surprise appearance, with the rapper admitting that it’d been a while since he and Bill had gotten high. Now that’s something we’d pay to see.

#6: Amy Poehler

A breakout star of “Saturday Night Live” and “Parks and Recreation,” Amy Poehler is one of comedy’s biggest names these days, so it’s no wonder her 2014 AMA was so good. In it, she came across as genuinely nice and enthusiastic, which are always good traits to have. As is to be expected, she used a lot of humor throughout and she also answered most of the silly questions, like which “Game of Thrones” character she’d sleep with and how her freestyle rapping has shaped her career. That, coupled with the odd behind-the-scenes tidbits about her shows, made this AMA a classic.

#5: Peter Dinklage

The surprise star of “Game of Thrones,” who many of us still know as “that guy from Elf,” Peter Dinklage proved to be an AMA master in 2014. Not only did he stay much longer than anticipated to answer fans’ questions, but his answers were both insightful and hilarious. He touched on personal topics like his reservations about acting and his troublesome life as a celebrity, as well as more fun anecdotes about life on the set of “Game of Thrones.” Although, he did kind of ruin the illusion by stating that he and Lena Headey – who plays the scheming older sister of his character Tyrion Lannister - are actually great friends!

#4: Arnold Schwarzenegger

Hollywood legend and ex-Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger sure has a lot of life experience, and his AMAs are an amazing insight into his accomplished life. In 2013, Arnold kicked things off beautifully by asking Reddit not to “be soft,” which led to some great questions and answers. Highlights include the story of how he landed “The Terminator,” a diarrhea episode while filming “Predator” involving the side of a road, and even a tidbit about how he paints his own Christmas cards. While most people generally avoided political questions, Arnie’s Q&As are still some informative and hilarious AMAs from one of the toughest guys around.

#3: Gordon Ramsay

He may be everyone’s favorite grumpy chef, but Gordon Ramsay also became the subject of one of the most popular AMAs of all time when he participated in one in 2015 - proving just how interesting the man actually is. Ramsay gave long, intelligent answers to his questions, and came across as very caring and genuine, which surprised a lot of readers. He covered topics ranging from his temper, his culinary abilities, and what he likes to eat and feed his own family. More popular and better than anyone was expecting, this AMA proved smart and insightful. It also made you feel a little hopeless in the kitchen because all you can make is toast.

#2: Snoop Lion

Known for barging into other celebrities’ AMAs, the artist usually known as Snoop Dogg finally decided to host his own while he was going under the alias Snoop Lion in 2012 - and it was everything you would expect from the rapper and more. Most of the questions revolved around weed, and Snoop’s responses to them seemed to imply that he was currently partaking in some, as most of his answers were short, misspelled, or just incomprehensible. He even asked himself a few questions. He also revealed that he smokes 81 blunts a day and gets high before every concert and recording session. Possibly the most bizarre AMA ever, Snoop is now a part of Reddit history. And it wouldn’t be the last AMA he participated in either…!

Before we unveil our number one pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
- Jeff Bridges
- Chris Pratt
- Bill Nye
- Ken Jennings
- Ronda Rousey
- Nick Offerman

#1: Barack Obama

First off, let’s just acknowledge how freaking cool it is that the President of the United States did an AMA. That alone is worth the number one spot! It was so popular that it broke Reddit in 2012, but thankfully, the questions that did get through were answered intelligently and enthusiastically, as was to be expected. Topics included student debt, job prospects, and difficult presidential decisions, among others. He even talked about the recipe for White House beer, proving just how cool he really is. A true phenomenon, this AMA was one of the site’s highest ranked at the time and is also one of its best.
