Top 10 Cutest Pixar Movie Couples
VOICE OVER: Emily Brayton WRITTEN BY: Andrew Tejada
These animated couples made us believe in love. For this list, we're looking at the best relationships between people, animals, or living objects across Pixar's library. Since some of these cute couples get together late in their stories, a spoiler warning is in effect. Our list includes Buzz Lightyear & Jessie, Héctor & Imelda Rivera, Woody & Bo Peep, Bob & Helen Parr, WALL-E & EVE, and more! Join MsMojo as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Best Pixar Movie Couples.

#10: Lightning McQueen & Sally Carrera
“Cars” franchise (2006-)

After racecar Lighting McQueen wrecks the main road in the small town of Radiator Springs, he’s sent to court. Before he can be released, lawyer Sally Carrera convinces the townspeople to make him stay and fix the damage. As a result, the two spend a lot of time together. Sally’s sarcastic yet caring personality gets through Lightning’s cocky and careless exterior. And as he takes more interest in the people and welfare of the town, she begins to fall for him. Although their relationship moves to the background of the franchise, Sally always returns to playfully steer Lightning in the right direction.

#9: Michael ‘Mike’ Wazowski & Celia Mae
“Monsters, Inc.” (2001)

We normally get annoyed by couples who overdo it with cutesy nicknames, but the adorable names shared between Mike and Celia get a pass. The two lovebirds can’t keep their singular eye off of each other while exchanging their cute monikers. But their relationship also has surprising depth. After Mike ruins Celia’s fancy birthday dinner to help save a human child, she’s furious at him. But as soon as he explains what’s going on, she buys him valuable time to get away from the villainous Randall’s clutches. Celia and Mike may be actual monsters, but their relationship has never looked anything less than adorable.

#8: Flik & Princess Atta
“A Bug's Life” (1998)

Flik is an excitable dreamer ant who wants his inventions to make bugs’ lives easier. Princess Atta is his realistic future queen who is constantly thinking of what’s best for her subjects. Although they both had good intentions, their opposite approaches to life clash throughout the story. But when Atta and Flik both confess they’re scared of letting people down, they realize how similar they are and develop feelings for each other. Both bugs are brave, kind, and selfless. Together, they’re able to overcome their insecurities and rid their home of their grasshopper enemies. Their colony couldn’t ask for a better couple to lead them.

#7: Buzz Lightyear & Jessie
“Toy Story” franchise (1995-)

Although Buzz is usually calm and composed under pressure, he can’t help but get flustered by Jessie. He admires the cowgirl for her beauty, bravery, and bold personality. While Jessie initially seems oblivious to Buzz’s crush, “Toy Story 3” solidifies their relationship. When Buzz loses his memories while in Spanish mode, he falls head over heels for Jessie all over again. And after he nearly sacrifices himself to save her, she can’t help but fall for him and his new dance moves. Through a series of exciting and tense adventures, the cowgirl and spaceman build a genuine and sweet relationship.

#6: Alfredo Linguini & Colette Tatou
“Ratatouille” (2007)

As the only female chef in Gusteau’s famous restaurant, Colette had to be tough and skilled to gain respect. So, when the timid and amateur Linguini lucks his way into a chef position, she’s less than thrilled. However, she manages her anger and decides to teach him how to cook. While Linguini always had a crush on Colette, he ultimately falls for her because she inspires him. Colette rewards his faith by sticking by his side after he reveals a rat is the real talented chef. By accepting the other’s flaws and lessons, the two combine to form a fantastic couple.

#5: Héctor & Imelda Rivera
“Coco” (2017)

Héctor and Imelda were once a happily married couple with a daughter named Coco. But after he failed to return from a music tour, Imelda thought he abandoned them and resented him. When their great-great grandson Miguel unites them in the afterlife, Héctor reveals that he was murdered by his partner before he could return to Imelda. After hearing the truth, she confesses her love for Héctor and saves his existence. Their love story is a sad and complicated affair that takes literal decades to resolve. But they’re able to reunite with their daughter Coco in the afterlife by loving and forgiving each other.

#4: Woody & Bo Peep
“Toy Story” franchise (1995-)

The “Toy Story” franchise has a knack for creating memorable couples. While the Potato Head family and Barbie and Ken pairing are great, we had to shout out the first relationship in the series. (*xref and **xref) Sheriff Woody and shepherdess Bo Peep seem like a natural couple from the beginning. As Woody deals with the pressures of being a leader, Bo reassures him at every turn. When other toys doubt him, she remains steadfast. Bo’s absence in “Toy Story 3” had fans worried their romance was over. But with her voice actress confirmed for the fourth film, Woody will have another chance to hook up with Bo.

#3: Bob & Helen Parr
“The Incredibles” franchise” (2004-)

Name a more iconic superhero couple than Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. We’ll wait. This strong and stretchy duo make a great team in and out of their costumes. The first film showed them getting married, starting a super family, and fighting to keep it. In the sequel, we saw them support each other as they adjusted to their new roles in the household. Throughout the franchise, we see times when the two argue and challenge each other. But their willingness to resolve their issues only makes their love stronger. Despite their fantastical powers, Bob and Helen are one of Pixar’s most realistic and relatable couples.

#2: WALL-E & EVE
“WALL-E” (2008)

When these two robots first meet, WALL-E is blown away… before EVE nearly blows him up. But after a proper introduction, he does whatever it takes to stay by her side. At first, WALL-E’s curiosity and clumsiness distract from EVE’s serious mission. But as the two fly and dance across space, they grow closer and more invested in each other’s goals. After WALL-E nearly sacrifices his body to help complete Eve’s mission, she rushes to repair him and help him remember who he is. The lengths that they go to for one another prove you don’t have to be human to have an inspiring love story.

Before we swoon at our top pick, here are some honorable mentions.

Marlin & Coral
“Finding Nemo” (2003)

Riley's Mother & Father
“Inside Out” (2015)

Queen Elinor & King Fergus
“Brave” (2012)

#1: Carl & Ellie Fredricksen
“Up” (2009)

Few romances tore at our heartstrings like Carl and Ellie Fredricksen’s. When the movie opens, they’re children bonding over their love for adventure. In an emotional montage, we see the triumphant highs and devastating lows of their relationship as they age. Throughout the scene, they save every cent to fulfill Ellie’s dream of going to Paradise Falls. But when she gets sick and dies, Carl initially shuts himself away. However, Ellie’s memory eventually motivates him to journey to Paradise Falls. Their love story is built up so well that it feels like Ellie is by Carl’s side through his entire adventure.
