Top 10 Disney Channel TV Couples
#10: Cody Martin & Bailey Pickett
“The Suite Life on Deck” (2008-11)
While some choose to flirt and play things cool, Cody devises a six-month plan to win his crush’s heart. Crazily enough? It works. Bailey is a passionate smart girl and Cody is a lovable, sensitive nerd, so it’s practically a match made in heaven. However, they break up on their first anniversary, in a classic case of ‘it’s not what it looks like’. They realize they clearly have a lack of trust and should part ways. Luckily, later in the series, as they are faced with a situation of life and death, they realize that they’ve loved each other all along and stay together until the end of the show.
#9: Teddy Duncan & Spencer Walsh
“Good Luck Charlie” (2010-14)
Teddy and Spencer were the definition of on and off, making a total of three relationships throughout the show’s four season run. Their love was turbulent and strong with an undeniable spark. The two faced many challenges and pratfalls throughout the show, including the usual misunderstandings, but also more serious issues like infidelity. Teddy and Spencer finally found themselves back together at the end of the final season, having sorted through their issues and decided that they can make things work. It’s a more accurate portrayal of a classic high school couple and their journey into maturing and settling down.
#8: Austin Moon & Ally Dawson
“Austin & Ally” (2011-16)
These two go together like music and lyrics! From the beginning, Austin and Ally fell for each other, but never at the same time. Between sung words and loving glances, they showed their feelings for each other. They forged a path together in a world that kept giving them reasons to be apart. Even their breakups were never nasty or too long, and the two always held each other in high regard, the one exception being a four-year separation in the series finale. But you know what they say, love always finds a way. In a time jump, they are revealed to have rekindled their long dormant relationship, eventually settling down and having kids.
#7: Digbert “Diggie” Smalls & Maddie Rooney
“Liv and Maddie” (2013-17)
These jocks know love is anything but a game. They’re both competitive and passionate. However, their sensitive natures also lead to their first fight and subsequent breakup. By the time Diggie regrets the breakup, Maddie is already dating Josh, but tries to hide it, leading to the end of Liv and Holden’s relationship. Maddie is torn between the two boys, but ultimately chooses Diggie after he sings her a song to win her back. Can you blame her? Even after they’re relationship briefly becomes long distance, they still make it work. It’s a Match-A-Rooney made in heaven!
#6: Raven Baxter & Devon Carter
“That’s So Raven” (2003-07)
This couple could’ve been very easily portrayed as a simple one-off, but the writers put so much work into making them reflect what young love feels like. Remember the “Say Anything”-inspired scene where Devon brought the Blue Rain concert to Raven? And how can we forget when they had the most unique prom night ever? Sure, they got divorced at some point before “Raven’s Home”, but not all couples can live their happily ever after together. They got plenty of love and two children out of their relationship. Not everything is forever, but what they did have was absolute magic.
#5: Allison “Sonny” Munroe & Chad Dylan Cooper
“Sonny with a Chance” (2009-11)
Few things are better than a rivalry turned romance! These two are from competing TV shows: the SNL-esque “So Random!” and teen drama “MacKenzie Falls” Both casts refuse to take the other seriously, and this bleeds into Sonny and Chad’s relationship. Eventually, Chad develops a huge crush on Sonny, and assumes she’ll soon reciprocate. Luckily for him, she also falls hard for the TV star and they have a sweet relationship, much to the pleasure of Channy fans and the dismay of both of their show’s casts. They end up breaking up over his inflated ego, but it isn’t exactly a shock to anyone. At least it was good while it lasted!
#4: Miley Stewart & Lesie “Jake” Ryan
“Hannah Montana” (2006-11)
When superstar Jake Ryan goes to a public school, all the girls go ga-ga, except for Miley Stewart. For sheer pride, he becomes determined to win her heart. And as time goes on, Miley’s disinterest turns into playing hard to get; secretly hopeless for Jake. Their love is sweet and vulnerable, a quality rare in even adult relationships. Though they ultimately break up, this superstar couple teaches kids a lesson they’ll carry to adulthood. Your first love can last like Lilly and Oliver or break your heart, but either way, you’ll learn important things about yourself and what you look for in a relationship.
#3: Lizzie McGuire & David "Gordo" Gordon
“Lizzie McGuire” (2001-04)
Their status wasn’t official, but we couldn’t resist including these two! Gordo crushes on his best friend throughout the series, and she is totally clueless, regarding Gordo as nothing but part of her BFF trio. Still, he is there by her side through thick and thin, and expects nothing out of it, even when Lizzie develops her own crushes, including on the dreamy Ethan. In the movie, Lizzie realizes that love was in front of her all along. They share a kiss and fans all over the world let out a collective ‘Finally!’
#2: Mason Greyback & Alex Russo
“Wizards of Waverly Place”(2007-12)
Who knew that a wizard/werewolf love story could be one of the most realistic on TV? We laughed, we cried, and we couldn’t help but get invested in these two. Their first kiss made us melt, and we were inspired by their relentless determination to stay together despite prejudice, rules, and past relationships. Mason treats Alex like a treasure and Alex shows him an honest, sensitive side not many get to see. The looks they share earn envy from many wishing they could have something so magical. Though they do break up a couple times, their feelings stay true and are endgame in the series, as they finally make their own destiny, together.
Before we unveil our top pick, we hope you fall for these honorable mentions.
Louis Stevens & Tawny Dean
“Even Stevens” (2000-03)
Lucas Friar & Riley Matthews
“Girl Meets World” (2014-17)
PJ Duncan & Skyler
“Good Luck Charlie” (2010-14)
#1: Kim Possible & Ron Stoppable
“Kim Possible” (2002-2007)
Many millennials will remember this as their first ship. Stoppable and Possible complemented each other in every way, from attitudes to social castes. They always had each other’s backs and fought baddies together, whether it be supervillains or pretentious cheerleaders. Their relationship was a classic will-they/won’t-they, and their friendship was second to none! In “So the Drama,” which was originally the finale, the two officially ended up together! But in an unexpected renewal of the series, the writers made the final season a combination of classic crime fighting antics and crazy cute couple moments we had waited for so long!
