Top 10 Doctor Who Villains

Top 10 Doctor Who Villains
VOICE OVER: Dan Paradis
This long running sci-fi program has run for countless episodes while featuring many different incarnations of the doctor. During these many adventures, the titular hero has crossed path with countless species and made countless new enemies. Just to avoid confusion, for this list, we're focusing on the most interesting and creative of the doctor's foes, as well as the most dangerous. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down the top 10 Doctor Who Villains.

#10: Sontarans

Kicking off our list are the race of humanoid aliens from the war obsessed Sontaran Empire. A stalky species with incredible strength; their ranks are made up entirely of clones. With their sole purpose in life being to wage war, they are ruthless and fearless adversaries. Interestingly, they produce a million clones every four minutes, and their many plans have included making Earth a breeding planet.

#9: The Ice Warriors

This race of reptilian humanoids are from the planet Mars. Fully armored and seven feet tall, these Martians are a skillful, and in their own way, honorable race with massive military strength. Like the Sontarans, they can be easily outsmarted. Their primary goal is the conquest of Earth. That would be a bad thing since they place zero value on human life.

#8: The Great Intelligence

This Doctor Who villain is a disembodied sentience that survived the destruction of it’s own universe. Out to claim a body and attain a physical existence, it possesses other beings, draining their knowledge, experience and intelligence. Like all brainy villains, it’s arrogant and obsesses with things like perfect symmetry. It’s pure hatred for the doctor has given it a murderous slant.

#7: The Beast

With the Doctor traveling everywhere and anywhere, how could he not encounter the devil? Well more accurately, this imprisoned demon that was the basis for the devil. It claims to be from a universe from before that of the time lords. Unsurprisingly, the evil beast sports a crimson body with horns and a corpse like face. He’s also been known to dabble around with possession.

#6: The Silence

This alien race is similar in appearance to Roswell Grey’s, complete with large head and eyes, except they are tall and wear suits. Their fear factor comes from the fact that you cannot remember seeing them as soon as looking away. A religious order, they wish to prevent the doctor from carrying out a prophecy. Diabolically, they have been secretly manipulating mankind from the very beginning.

#5: Davros

What would a sci-fi series like Doctor Who be without an alien in the footsteps of Dr. Frankenstein? Davros is the alien responsible for the creation of the Daleks. Davros rivals the Doctor in terms of intellect and is among his most insane and dangerous foes. Once the Dalek emperor, few others in the series can claim to have caused the loss of trillions of lives.

#4: Weeping Angels

Arguably the most psychologically frightening Doctor Who villains, these aliens are quantum locked humanoids that resemble statues when observed. Murderous psychopaths, they steal time energy from their victims in order to survive. The Angels are often seen covering their eyes, as the very act of looking upon them freezes them in place, even when they’re looking at each other. Don’t run, don’t turn your back, and don’t ever blink.

#3: The Master

A unique entry on this list, the Master is the Doctor’s polar opposite. A rival time lord, he doesn’t want to protect the galaxy, but rule it. Also capable of regeneration, he has been played by numerous actors, appearing as everything from the mustache twirling type to a psychopath. Interestingly, the doctor can’t help but have conflicting feelings for his foe, seeing as they are the last of their kind.

#2: The Cybermen

This race of cybernetically augmented humanoids are the Doctor’s earlier version of the Borg from “Star Trek”. There are two versions, those from the planet Mondas and those created on Earth in an alternate universe. Either way, these are among the most persistent of the Doctor’s foes. Coldly logical and calculating, despite retaining organic brains, their mission is to convert all other life into Cybermen by force.

#1: The Daleks

Taking the top spot on our list are the iconic alien saltshakers. Underneath the veneer, they are actually extraterrestrial mutants that have been modified and integrated into their tank like robotic shells for the purpose of warfare. Sporting their high-pitched signature catchphrases and plunger like appendages, they are best known for causing trouble with their never-ending goal of Intergalactic conquest and domination.
