#10: Katerina Petrova aka Katherine Pierce               “The Vampire Diaries” (2009-17)

Top 10 Badass Katherine Pierce Moments on The Vampire Diaries

In the late 1400s, a vampire named Niklaus wanted to use Katerina Petrova as a human sacrifice. Instead of accepting her fate, she ruined his plans by becoming a vampire herself. Over the next few centuries, Petrova become known as Katherine Pierce and fought hard to stay alive. She’s killed people, possessed another body and became the ruler of Hell to keep moving forward. Nothing, not even death itself, gets in her way for long. Although Pierce met her end when Hell was destroyed, her long, long life could make for an interesting prequel series full of crazy turns and a whole lot of victims.

#9: Melody Pond aka River Song “Doctor Who” (2005-)

Spoiler alert: this character’s history is a bit complicated. Melody Pond was conceived by her parents on the time-traveling machine called the TARDIS. As a result, she was born with unique talents like the ability to regenerate into new bodies. Melody eventually encountered the time traveling Doctor and realized she would help him in the future. After years of study, she became the archeologist known as River Song. Song was a bold heroine who didn’t flinch in the face of danger. Although her story is complex, we know that she’s had plenty of adventures. The unknown tales would make for a great River Song series.

#8: Melody "Mellie" Margaret Grant
 “Scandal” (2012-18)

At the beginning of “Scandal”, Mellie Grant was introduced as an outspoken First Lady who was willing to lie for political gain. But after losing both her son and patience for her husband's misdeeds, she decided to get a divorce and run for president herself. After orchestrating a close victory, the final season of “Scandal” showed her taking on bigger threats as commander-in-chief. Grant’s resilience and determination to do whatever’s necessary to achieve her goals have already made her into a dynamic leader. We’d be more than willing to see her face the challenges that the rest of her presidency brings.

#7: Barbara “Bobbi” Morse   “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (2013-)

Top 10 Times Barbara Was the Best Character on Abbott Elementary

Bobbi Morse, codename Mockingbird, was a top agent for the spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D. When the organization fell apart, she went into deep cover to help save what remained. Bobbi’s talents for deception and insane fighting skills got her out of many tight spots. And she was so loyal to S.H.I.E.L.D. that she sacrificed her future as a spy to protect their secrets. Although Marvel planned a spinoff that chronicled the adventures of Bobbi and her mercenary ex-husband, the show never made it past the pilot. But if Marvel can give the mediocre “Iron Fist” a second season, Mockingbird deserves a second chance to fly.

#6: Brienne of Tarth   “Game of Thrones” (2011-)

Also in:

Top 10 Badass Brienne of Tarth Moments

Don’t call her a lady. Despite years of enduring tough training and society’s ridicule, Brienne of Tarth continued to uphold the values of knighthood. But shortly after winning her place in Renly's Kingsguard, she was framed for the murder of her king. Left with few options, Brienne pledged her loyalty to Catelyn Stark and was sent to fulfill a new quest. During her journey, she’s defeated the fearsome Hound, avenged her king and fought a bear with a wooden sword. Underneath her tough exterior, Brienne has a vulnerability that makes her compelling to watch. With “Game of Thrones” set to end in 2019, HBO will have room for a show about this inspiring figure.

#5: Lexa “The 100” (2014-)

In the post-apocalyptic world of “The 100”, a warrior named Lexa united twelve clans to fight against one common enemy. As commander, she made some dark decisions to protect her people. Yet she still garnered respect and even entered a romantic relationship with her former enemy Clarke. Lexa’s complexity and status as a strong LGBT character earned her plenty of positive attention. So much so, that when she was killed in season three, the show’s creator apologized about how it happened. Although the actress who portrayed Lexa is busy with another show, we bet fans would love to see this commander back in action.

#4: Willow Rosenberg “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (1996-2003)

The Scooby Gang would’ve been sunk without this magical woman. When Willow first teamed up with Buffy, she used her intelligence and computer skills to combat supernatural foes. But after learning more about witchcraft, she became a powerful magic user. Willow’s complicated journey with her powers have made her everything from the world’s biggest threat to its saving grace. The decision to have her come out in later seasons cemented her place as an iconic LGBT character in media. Between Willow’s supernatural experience, magical power and popularity with fans, we’re confident a show about her would slay in the ratings..

#3: Natalia aka Petra Solano “Jane the Virgin” (2014-)

Also in:

The Shocking True Story of Natalia Grace

To say Petra had a difficult life would be an understatement. In her 20s, she started dating a man named Milos while living in the Czech Republic. But after he was exposed as a criminal and threw acid at her mother, she changed her name and relocated to America. Since arriving in the States, she’s survived her ex returning, murder attempts and insane family members. Now she co-owns the Marbella hotel while taking care of twin girls. Although she is the main antagonist, she’s matured into a well-rounded character. Petra’s growth is enough reason to check into a full series about her.

#2: Cheryl Blossom “Riverdale” (2017-)

After her brother was presumed dead due to an accidental drowning, she managed to grieve while upholding her high social standing. But when it’s revealed that Cheryl’s brother was murdered, she pursues a mystery that tears her family apart. This redhead’s brutal comments and impeccable wardrobe captivate the audience every time she appears. And her tragic plotline shows there’s a lot of depth underneath her dramatic persona. Cheryl’s already a scene stealer, so why not give her the full spotlight with her own mystery show?   Before we nominate our top pick, here are some honorable mentions.
Alexandra “Alex” Danvers “Supergirl” (2015-)   Sameen Shaw
“Person of Interest” (2011-16)   Elektra Natchios
 “The Defenders” (2017)

#1: Regina/ Evil Queen “Once Upon a Time” (2011-18)

Regina’s life took a dark turn when her mother killed the man she loved. Hungry for revenge, she learned dark magic and took her mother down. Unfortunately, she continued to use her dark powers for vengeance and cast a curse on the villagers of the Enchanted Forest. After true love broke her curse, she began a long journey of redemption. Regina managed to become a more heroic person without losing her strong will or killer comebacks. This powerful lady has gracefully brought herself into the light. Maybe helping other villains do the same could make for an exciting chapter of TV.
