Top 10 Greatest Hulk MCU Moments

Hulk Unleashed
The Avengers (2012)
For a large part of the first “Avengers” film, Bruce Banner remains himself. However, the villainous Loki conspires to make Banner lose control and turn into the enormous, green rage monster. Once this monster is unleashed, we get our first look at the new Hulk, following his recasting after 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk”. Hulk chases Black Widow in a harrowing sequence and eventually collides with Thor; leading the two titans of the Avengers to their first face-off. Although the two of them manage to work together later on in the movie, it’s clear that Hulk still holds a grudge.
Hulk vs. Abomination
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
The first incarnation of the Incredible Hulk in the MCU is largely unstoppable in his sole solo film; proving more than a match for soldiers and high tech weaponry. However, a particularly power obsessed soldier named Emil Blonsky seeks to become as powerful as Hulk is, and the result is Abomination. Bigger and spinier than Hulk, Abomination proves a smarter and more ruthless fighter than Hulk for much of their battle. Thankfully, Hulk is able to smash his way to victory, providing “Big Green” with his first real test in the MCU.
Hulk Leaves
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Hulk undergoes a lot of character development in the second “Avengers” film. Both he and Bruce Banner bond with Black Widow, who helps calm him during his rampages. Yet this same bond is also what leads to Hulk’s departure at the film’s end. During the final battle, Hulk pursues one of the Ultrons onto a jet and throws it out. Although contacted by Black Widow, who attempts to get him to reconnect with them, Hulk hangs up on her; finally confronting the destructive and dangerous effect he has on those around him.
Hulk vs. Hulkbuster Iron Man
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
One of the things that pushes Hulk to his departure in our previous entry is this fight. After Scarlet Witch brainwashes him, Hulk is let loose in a South African city in a complete rage. In order to stop him, Iron Man uses a huge suit of armor specifically designed for such a worst case scenario. The ensuing fight is absolutely brutal with hard hits, endangered civilians, and wide scale destruction. Despite how angry he is, Hulk does have a conscience most of the time, but this fights shows how terrifying he is when he just doesn’t care.
Thanos Stomps Hulk
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Although Hulk faces a few defeats during the MCU, he is rarely outclassed. Unfortunately, Thanos is in a league of his own. When the Mad Titan and his forces attack the Asgardians’ ship, Hulk appears just when all hope seems lost. While at first he seems to get a few good licks in, Thanos quickly turns the tables and easily defeats the large Avenger; giving him a beatdown unlike any he’s faced before. It’s a trauma that affects Hulk for the rest of the film and it’s only thanks to some timely intervention by Heimdall that Hulk is able to escape and drop in on Dr. Strange.
Professor Hulk
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Early on in “Avengers: Endgame,” a time jump of 5 years occurs, leaving us to catch up with several characters’ lives that have changed during the interim. One of the more drastic changes happens to Hulk, who has essentially merged his large, green physique with Bruce Banner’s temperament and intelligence. The new “Professor” Hulk may have had some divided, but we enjoyed seeing more Banner in the Hulk. There’s just something about jokes and intelligent conversation coming out of the Hulk’s mouth that’s even more entertaining than when it’s just Banner. “Time travel!”
Friends From Work
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
When Thor is captured on Sakaar and forced to fight in the arena, he’s initially happy to see that Hulk is the one he’s fighting. But Hulk has never been one to take it easy on his Asgardian teammate, and this goes double in front of the green giant’s adoring new fans. The two of them have their biggest, and funniest, fight yet, with each getting some solid hits against each other, and Hulk in particular showing more cunning than usual. Unfortunately, thanks to some outside interference, the outcome of the fight remains ambiguous, but this matchup shows just what the Hulk can do when he’s in his element.
Hulk Snap
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
After acquiring all six of the Infinity Stones by retrieving them via time travel, the Avengers set out to resurrect all the people killed during Thanos’ infamous Snap. Because of his gamma ray constitution, Hulk is chosen for the task. Although Tony’s Snap to defeat Thanos often overshadows it, Hulk bringing half of the universe back to life without knowing if he’ll survive is still a hugely heroic act and we have to respect him for it; even if he couldn’t find a way to bring Black Widow back too.
I’m Always Angry
The Avengers (2012)
A recurring topic that Tony Stark brings up with Bruce Banner throughout the first “Avengers” film is how Banner is able to maintain control of the Hulk and remain himself. While this seems like an innocuous piece of dialogue, it sets up one of the most awesome, hype-inducing moments of the movie. When Cap suggests during the climactic battle of New York that Bruce might want to get angry, Banner responds – “I’m always angry.” He then transforms into the Hulk and smashes a giant, alien sky eel thing into the ground with one hit; making for a truly incredible moment. The fact that it transitions into that amazing, iconic rotation shot of all six original Avengers doesn’t hurt either.
Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
“Kid” Hulk
“Thor: Ragnarok” (2017)
A Crash Meeting
“The Avengers” (2012)
Hulk vs. Fenris
“Thor: Ragnarok” (2017)
Hulk Catches Tony
“The Avengers” (2012)
Stairs
“Avengers: Endgame” (2019)
Puny God
The Avengers (2012)
Despite already having his own solo film, “The Avengers” was a real breakout film for Hulk, with the character having many of the film’s standout moments. Arguably the greatest occurs during the Battle when Hulk crashes his way up Avengers tower to confront Loki. Although Thor’s villainous brother tries to berate Hulk, asserting his godhood, Hulk simply grabs him and slams him into the ground repeatedly, calling him a “puny god.” It’s not only a great showcase of Hulk’s strength, but it’s also one of the best laugh out loud moments in the whole MCU and it gets us every time.
