Top 10 Mobile Fighting Games

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today, we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Mobile Fighting Games!

These days, we see a bunch of ads for mobile games that claim to be “addictive to play”, especially when it comes to fighting games. Luckily, we’ve found enough to make this list in case you’re looking to put up your dukes while you’re on the go. Let us know if your favorite made the list in the comments below!

#10: "Nickelodeon Super Brawl Universe" (2018)

It can be intimidating to step into the world of fighting games, especially when there are so many different games with their own mechanics and unique rosters. But if you want something that isn't overwhelming and holds a familiar face, then "Nickelodeon Super Brawl Universe" might be your speed. You can fight with your favorite Nicktoons - new and old - while enjoying a combat system that only requires a couple swipes and taps. The presence of lootboxes and character pieces may raise some alarm, but the game is actually fairly lenient on cooldowns. Besides, with so many Nicktoons being represented here, we're more than willing to forgive and forget, since this title is perfect for casual players.

#9: "The King of Fighters ALLSTARS" (2018)

Despite not being as insanely popular as other pre-established franchises, “The King of Fighters” has achieved more than enough to stand on its own legs, and it has done so again in the mobile market. Take control of your favorite “King of Fighters” characters and beat the ever-loving crap out of anyone who dares to challenge you! Surprisingly, the game runs at a consistent quality without sacrificing the visual fidelity of previous titles. Of course, that’s not the only reason to play - “King of Fighters ALLSTARS” features just about every character who has ever appeared in previous titles! It may not be a traditional entry, but the sizable roster and arcade-y gameplay are enough to keep you coming back.

#8: “Mortal Kombat X Mobile” (2015)

No one would be blamed for thinking NetherRealm Studios had just ported an inferior version of MKX to mobile, but don't let that impression deceive you. "Mortal Kombat X Mobile" is very much a different game as you’ll be assembling trios of your favorite kombatants to complete towers, story missions, and side challenges. While characters don’t have movesets as complex as their console counterparts, “MKX Mobile” holds the same level of brutality with each character’s special moves and the occasional fatality. If you can’t get enough “Mortal Kombat”, this is worth your time.

#7: “Power Rangers: Legacy Wars” (2017)

Suppose you want a fighting game that’s a tad slower, demands fewer movements and emphasizes playing abilities similar to those of a card battle game. In that case, you may find solace in “Power Rangers: Legacy Wars”. To emerge victorious, you’re going to need to pick from a small selection of moves in accordance with your meter. Some moments may force you to play a little more defensively and be patient whereas other times, you may be allowed to tag in other characters and unleash devastating combos. The best part? You can recruit “Power Rangers” characters from all sorts of different series within the IP, and they’re all brimming with detail and color! Plus, it’s got “Street Fighter” characters!

#6: “Prizefighters” (2017)

Longing for the days of simple fighting games, the kind you’d find on NES? Yeah, we know what you’re looking for, and “Prizefighters” will scratch that itch! Nooooooo, it totally isn’t a “Punch-Out” clone, and even if it was, it would still be a solid title! In addition to basic and fun gameplay, “Prizefighters” allows you to customize your fighter as well as the arena, and the game will reward you with enough currency each match to afford something cool. Don’t spend all your coin at once, though, as you’ll have to upgrade your boxer’s stats if you want to test your mettle against stronger opponents!

#5: “World Robot Boxing 2” (2019)

Sound familiar? Well, it probably does if you’ve seen the 2011 film “Real Steel” as this game is set within the film’s universe. Players can take various robots on in matches while only worrying about two basic buttons, a special move button, and of course, movement. Dish out the pain “Rock ‘Em, Sock ‘Em Robot” style and end every match with a finishing move that’s sure to decapitate your foe...every...single...time! It’s also amazing how the robots within this game boast a bit more personality and unique visuals than the films, but that’s a discussion for another time. If you want a fighting game that lets you mash buttons and look cool doing it, “World Robot Boxing 2” will be more than satisfying.

#4: “Final Fighter” (2019)

While it is clearly inspired by other fighting game franchises such as “Street Fighter”, “Final Fighter” manages to distinguish itself from other titles by sticking to core fighting game mechanics. Nothing too fancy going on here but old-fashioned arcade-like brawling! Adding to its unique style and attitude is the diverse cast of characters that may come off as a tad trope-y, but it’s far from obnoxious, and we even found ourselves a little invested in learning about other characters. Whether you’re a casual or hardcore fan, there’s plenty of fun to be had in “Final Fighter”, and yes, we’re even giving props to the story mode!

#3: “Footsies” (2018)

It isn’t everyday you come across a mobile game that can be played by two players on the same screen. The same can be said about an incredibly basic, yet addictive fighting game like “Footsies”! Two players must try to chicken each other into getting close enough to land a hit...which is easier said than done. Despite only being a three-button game, there’s more complexity than meets the eye as you have ways to close in on your rival, trick them into attacking first, and even possibly skating by with an easy KO! Each match is as tense as the last, and it never gets old. Oh, and you don’t have to worry about forking over money - the game is free!

#2: “Dragon Ball Legends” (2018)

Given how the “Dragon Ball” games present themselves in the same extreme and over-the-top manner as the anime and manga, one would think a phone would melt just trying to run a “Dragon Ball” game. On the contrary, “Dragon Ball Legends” achieves the same graphical quality as the console titles with detailed, cel-shaded graphics. It’s worth mentioning that this isn’t some half-assed adaptation of a pre-existing storyline. This is an original story with some brand new characters thrown into the mix. In other words, it’s a completely different game that any fan will come to love.

#1: “Skullgirls” (2017)

It isn’t the number one fighting game on the App Store for nothing! When we gave the mobile version of “Skullgirls” a whirl, it was just as insanely fun as its console and PC counterparts and offered a progression and upgrade system that kept us coming back. Duke it out with a colorful cast of characters and upgrade their abilities through skill trees and equippable abilities. Each character plays differently, and you can pull off some insane combos with a few taps and swipes. “Skullgirls” doesn’t overload you with a complicated system either as the tutorial only takes a couple of minutes before sending you on your way. Seriously, if you have any interest in fighting games, this is the perfect one to play!
