Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the most memorable ways we found out our fave celebs popped the question.

#10: Russell Wilson & Ciara[a]

You can’t go wrong with the good old social media announcement. That’s how this couple shared the happy news with fans as soon as they could. The NFL star got down on one knee for Ciara at the swanky North Island resort in Seychelles[b] in March 2016. As soon as she said yes, the quarterback whipped out his phone and recorded a quick little video announcing that they were engaged. The video was basically shot in complete darkness and we could barely see how he decorated the famed Honeymoon Beach for the big moment. However, we could tell from their voices that they were over the moon.

#9: Kit Harington & Rose Leslie

Is it even surprising that these “Game of Thrones” stars would tell the world about their engagement in a regal way? Instead of spreading the word on social media, they took to the newspaper. Through a very formal announcement in The Times, we found out that Jon Snow had bent the knee for his IRL queen. The advert was also an elegant way of showing that their nuptials would not only bring them together but also unify their families. A year after the engagement in 2017, the pair tied the knot and celebrated in Leslie’s family castle in Scotland.

#8: Matty Healy & Gabbriette

According to insiders, Taylor Swift’s ex-beau fell hard and fast for the Nasty Cherry vocalist soon after they met in 2023, so their whirlwind romance doesn’t come as a shocker. Just nine months after they were spotted cozying up to each other for the first time, he asked her to marry him with a black diamond sparkler. Later, Gabbriette announced it to her fans through IG, straight from a Charli XCX concert. The coolest part was the caption. “Marrying the 1975 is very brat,” she wrote. Considering the couple are friends with the “360” singer, this announcement was both fun and meaningful.

#7: Lady Gaga & Michael Polansky

Hearing about someone’s engagement from your gossipy best friend is one thing. Finding out about it from the French Prime Minister? Now, that’s a unique experience. We didn’t know about Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky’s engagement until months after he proposed. In the interim she deliberately stepped out without her ring to throw us off. It was only at the 2024 Paris Olympics that she hard-launched her fiancé to PM Gabriel Attal[c] and he just happened to share that moment on his social media. He might have made an oopsie, but fans couldn’t be happier.

#6: Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck

JLo first got engaged to the “Argo” star in 2002. At the time, she broke the news via an interview with journalist Diane Sawyer, gushing over her two and a half million dollar ring. Unfortunately the couple went their separate ways soon after but reconnected years later. The second time Ben proposed, which was almost two decades later in 2022, the “On The Floor” singer cautiously announced it on her personal newsletter, “On the JLo.” As it was meant for her inner circle only, the announcement had an exclusive vibe to it. This time, her green diamond bling was doubly expensive but although the rock was green, her lucky color, the pair did not last. She did get to keep the ring though!

#5: Miranda Kerr & Evan Spiegel[d]

Forget customized rings or dresses and cakes. When Snap Inc. CEO Evan Spiegel got down on one knee for Miranda Kerr’s hand in marriage in 2016, he created a customized Bitmoji sticker for the moment. Kerr later shared a black and white close-up shot of her diamond on Instagram and plastered the colored sticker on top that showed a cartoon version of him proposing to her. Below was a text that read “marry me!” She revealed her answer in the caption, which, of course, was yes. Far from being a simple Instagram announcement, the Victoria’s Secret Angel honored her now-hubby’s life’s work with the post.

#4: Ellen DeGeneres & Portia de Rossi[e]

This famous couple’s engagement coincided with a very significant moment in LGBTQ history. The pair were initially going to take their relationship to the next level with a commitment ceremony. They had the date set and everything ready to go. Days before the special event, in May 2008, the California Supreme Court lifted the ban on same-sex marriage. Talk about perfect timing! So, Ellen took the opportunity to ask Portia to be her lawfully wedded wife, gifting her a marquise diamond. She then announced their nuptials on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” for the first time. On the same date as their planned commitment ceremony, the two said their I dos at their LA home with friends and family.

#3: Maksim Chmerkovskiy [f]& Peta Murgatroyd[g]

Who needs an engagement announcement if your proposal is public in the first place? In 2015, the “Dancing with the Stars” alum mustered up the courage to pop the question to his long-time girlfriend, fellow “DWTS” star, Peta Murgatroyd, right in front of their fans. After concluding a performance of “Sway” at Miami’s Olympia Theater together, Maks dropped to one knee and put a ring on it. Not only was it a magically fitting way to start their happily ever after but also allowed fans to be a part of their sweet moment.

#2: Zendaya & Tom Holland

The young royals of Hollywood have been the epitome of relationship goals ever since they confirmed their romance in 2021. While they never miss a chance to gush over each other in public, the pair have managed to keep their private life under wraps. So imagine our pleasant surprise when Zendaya rocked the 2025 Golden Globes with a stunning diamond on her left ring finger. While she did not verbally announce their engagement at the time, her eyes did all the talking. Later, it was confirmed by sources that they were, in fact, engaged. Holland’s father, Dominic, even wrote on his blog that Tom had asked Z’s father for permission before proposing over the holidays. Can they get any more adorable?

#1: Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas

When it comes to blending traditions, no one does it better than this couple. In 2018, the Indian actress and her musician boyfriend sparked rumors of an engagement after Nick got a Tiffany store all to himself to pick out the ring. Then she was spotted with said ring on Bollywood star Raveena Tandon's Instagram. Meanwhile, the entire Jonas family was making their way to India. Soon it became clear that the couple were hosting an official engagement ceremony, also known as a ‘roka’[h] in Chopra’s Punjabi culture. Then came a lavish celebration with the who's who of the Indian film industry in attendance. Everyone already knew by then but for good measure, the two also announced on their respective IGs that they were engaged.
