For this list, we’re taking a look at all the times Ellen and Portia were the most adorable couple in the entertainment industry.

#10: The First Time Portia Was on “Ellen”

To celebrate their 7-month anniversary, Portia dropped by Ellen’s talk show for the very first time. Before they could get down to chatting, however, Ellen wanted to set the record straight on a common misconception. Asking her wife to take off her high heels, Ellen proved once and for all that she’s taller than Portia. From there, Ellen jokingly asked Portia how married life was treating her. Portia’s response was nothing short of heartfelt, saying that their wedding was not only the happiest day of her life, but that Ellen has been nothing but considerate, kind, and wonderful, as well as neat around the house. Ellen felt the same about Portia… minus the neat part.

#9: When Portia Caught Ellen Working Out

These two clearly have a playful relationship and get a kick out of pulling little pranks on one another. In this case, it all began when Ellen filmed Portia working out to a Jane Fonda video. Portia wasn’t about to let her significant other off the hook. She exacted revenge by secretly filming Ellen running on the treadmill. You can tell just how much Ellen is getting into her workout as she sings “Uptown Funk.” Like a shark lurking in the water, Portia slowly creeps up on Ellen and then goes in for the kill. Ellen brings her training session to an abrupt halt, but the couple ultimately shares a good laugh in the end.

#8: Taking Pictures of Each Other

It’s no secret that Ellen is a social media goddess. So natural, there’s no shortage of adorable selfies featuring her and Portia expressing their love. In addition to taking photos together, the couple also enjoys snapping sneaky photos of each other. In one instance, Portia took a picture of Ellen while their cat acted as a hat. Ellen proceeded to share a photo of a sleepy Portia embracing their dog, leaving the cat feeling neglected. On top of that, Ellen also caught Portia having several bad hair days. Aside from being cute and funny, these photos encompass the down-to-earth dynamic that makes this couple so relatable.

#7: When Jennifer Aniston Learned About Their Marriage

While acting as Ellen’s co-host, Jennifer Aniston didn’t hesitate to ask Portia about her marriage. As per usual, Portia focused on why they have such a strong, enduring bond. Since no relationship is perfect, though, Jennifer was eager to know if Ellen ever bugged Portia. She eventually admitted there are a couple of little things. Sometimes when Portia serves her wife a romantic dinner, Ellen immediately gets up to feed the cats. And moving between nine different houses in just under nine years would be stressful for anyone, although now Portia loves moving, thanks to Ellen. Fun fact: Ryan Seacrest bought their house, much to Jennifer’s dismay.

#6: Playing the Not-So-Newlywed Game

Not too long after tying the knot, Ellen and Portia took part in “The Newlywed Game,” answering questions about Whoopi Goldberg and favorite gifts. Later down the line, the two celebrated their 7-year anniversary by going up against Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone in “The Not-So-Newlywed Game.” With sidekick tWitch acting as host, the married couples competed to see how well they knew each other. Their responses struck just the right balance of sweet and hilarious. Although Melissa and Ben have been married longer, Ellen and Portia walked away victorious by correctly answering the final question regarding their first kiss. For the record, it took place in a limo.

#5: When Ellen Helped Portia Find Strength

In an honest, poignant interview, Portia got personal, and delved into how her life has changed since meeting Ellen. Portia once felt that being strong meant being tough and being independent meant being alone. Ellen taught Portia, however, that true strength stems from letting down your defenses and letting others inside. Above all else, Ellen has shown Portia that being happy with who you are matters so much more than what others think. Portia’s beautifully spoken words epitomize why she loves Ellen, not to mention why we love them together.

#4: When Portia Gave A Gift to Ellen on Her 60th Birthday

You wouldn’t know it based on her youthful appearance and energetic attitude, but Ellen turned 60 in early 2018. To celebrate, Portia surprised Ellen on her show with a kiss and a present. Although Portia was losing her voice at the time, she summoned the strength to say a few touching words before unveiling the gift. She then played a video about the late gorilla researcher Dian Fossey, who Ellen had always wanted to interview. Portia revealed that she was building The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and had set up The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund. Ellen was moved to tears, describing it was the best gift anyone could’ve given her.

#3: When They Announced Their Engagement

After the California Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage on May 15, 2008, Ellen wasted no time making a big announcement on her show. Receiving a standing ovation, Ellen made her engagement public knowledge. She didn’t say who her fiancée was and even joked that it was actually a man, although the camera did briefly cut to Portia in the audience. The ecstatic expression on Portia’s face said it all. Ellen gave her bride-to-be a ring with pink diamonds, which she showed off on the red carpet at the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

#2: The Way Their Relationship Took Time to Bloom

In April 1997, Ellen came out as a gay woman, appearing on the cover of Time, and then appearing on “Oprah.” Over a decade later, Ellen and Portia visited Oprah’s talk show for their first interview as a married couple. Discussing how they met, Portia revealed that she quickly felt a connection to Ellen. Since she hadn’t come out as a lesbian yet, Portia kept her attraction concealed for almost three years. Then one day at a photo shoot, Portia felt as if Cupid had struck her with an arrow. It took another ten months, but Portia finally worked up the courage to reveal her true feelings . . . and Ellen reciprocated. Fast forward several years: Ellen and Portia officially became wife and wife.

#1: When They Got Married

Only three months after announcing their engagement, Ellen and Portia’s wedding day arrived. The two held the ceremony at their home, keeping the guest list limited to friends, and family (and pets). Ellen was still kind enough to share a few photos on her show, though. She also gave her fans a good look at their pink and white ensembles, as well as the gorgeous cake they feasted on. This was a major moment, not only for Ellen and Portia, but gay couples everywhere that had been waiting years for the same-sex marriage ban to be overturned.
