The 20 Best Lego Video Games Ever

If you build it, they will come... or pick up the pieces and build some more. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Lego Video Games. For this list we’ll be collecting the bricks and stacking up the blocks for the most fun and creative video games in the lego franchise. We won’t be including games that haven’t been released yet, so as awesome as a certain Jurassic title looks, we can’t rank it until we play it -- but dinosaurs are still cool.

#10: “The Lego Movie Video Game” (2014)

Something something awesome, something something something part of the team. That’s how the song goes, right? While movie games don’t have the best reputation, there’s no denying the fun to be had with construction worker, Emmet, and the rest of the building blocks that make up cast of the hit movie. It’s one of the few times where playing through the plot of a movie game was just as fun as sitting and watching it unfold, brick by brick, on the big screen.

#9: “Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures” (2008)

Spoiler alert: this may not be the only time a lego rendition of Harrison Ford appears on this list. For now, let’s equip ourselves with a snazzy fedora, a whip, and stay far away from snakes. This game lets you explore the iconic world of Indiana Jones piece by piece, and while there is a sequel that includes all four movies, we decided to stick with the one that didn’t involve fridge nuke, aliens or Shia LaBeouf. Sometimes, it’s best to stick with the original.

#8: “Lego Island” (1997)

Before the lego renditions of the Millennium Falcon, the Batmobile, and the many variations of Ironman, there was an entire island of legos. The game’s plot centered around pizza delivery boy, Pepper Brickolini -- ha ha, get it, it’s a pun on Italian food and... nevermind. After accidentally releasing the diabolical Brickster with pizza fumes -- just go with it -- you’re sent to recapture him, Players could go on this quest, or they could enjoy the game’s biggest selling point: a completely customizable world.

#7: “Lego Pirates of the Caribbean” (2011)

Why Adults Love Playing LEGO Video Games

Yo ho, yo ho, a lego’s life for me! But sadly, even in the world of legos, the rum is always gone. Cheer up, Mojoholics, because this game gives you something better than alcohol: Johnny Depp! Oops, we mean Jack Sparrow, sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference. While the game was released to coincide with “Stranger Tides,” it covers the plotlines of all four movies. With a 5th movie apparently on the way, there might be some more swashbuckling to be had in the future.

#6: “Lego Lord of the Rings” (2012)

They say that it’s not about the destination, but the journey, otherwise... we’d just use the eagles, right? When it comes to the one ring of power, the longer the quest, the more interesting the tale, especially when you toss in a lego block or two. Much like TT Games’s other titles, this one takes on the iconic trilogy of movies. However, since “Lord of the Rings” is so plot heavy, the main focus is the story -- but free roaming is still an option.

#5: “Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4” (2010) and “Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7” (2011)

The 10 Best Unlockable Characters In Lego Video Games

Unlike “Lego Indiana Jones,” we couldn’t split these two games up, so we’ve decided to call it a draw and praise both titles at once . After all, how could we possibly pick one over the other ? The first game covers the first four movies in the franchise , and the second game covers the last three -- sorry, four, since it was divided. Both games are vital to the overall “Harry Potter” story, but more importantly, both have an equal amount of blocktacular wizardry.

#4: “Lego City Undercover” (2013)

10 Lego Video Games Everyone FORGOT

Is TT Games capable of doing an original idea for a lego game? This Wii U exclusive shows that they most certainly are. TT Fusion, a division of the studio, developed this original title that takes place in the building blocks of Lego City. The city is infested with crime, and it’s up to Chase McCain to take back the streets and clean up of the place. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta build it.

#3: “Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes” (2012)

10 Movie References in Lego Batman Games

Much like the upcoming “Batman vs. Superman” movie... this should’ve been called “Justice League.” All appropriate titles aside, this game is a shining example of a sequel done right. The charm of the original “Lego Batman” has been turned up a notch with a fun, new plot, improved gameplay, and a huge character roster that goes beyond the streets of Gotham. And you can fly! Who doesn’t want to fly around the city as the Man of Steel as his theme plays in the background?

#2: “Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga” (2007)

10 Things To Know Before Playing Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga

Long ago, in a developer studio far, far away, TT Games created a new kind of lego video game by taking well known franchises and lego-izing them. “Star Wars” was the first to get TT Games’s blocktastic makeover and has had the most releases, but this “complete” version is our top pick for one reason: Jar Jar doesn’t talk. Sure, combining all six movies is great, and this was before dialogue in the lego games existed, but we’ll still count it as a major plus. Before we finish building up to our number one pick, let’s check out some legotastic honorable mentions.

#1: “Lego Marvel Super Heroes” (2013)

10 CENSORED Moments In Lego Marvel Games

While we definitely enjoyed the lego transformation of Gotham, who doesn’t want to fly around New York as a genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist? Much like “Lego Batman 2,” this game has its own original plot that makes you feel like you’re watching an amazing, new Marvel movie -- complete with Stan Lee cameos. On top of that, there are a slew of side missions and a character roster that’s sure to satisfy any comic-book fan. Sorry, DC, but we have to give this one to Marvel. Do you agree with our list?
