Top 10 Memorable Florence Pugh Red Carpet Looks

Top 10 Memorable Florence Pugh Red Carpet Looks
VOICE OVER: Phoebe de Jeu WRITTEN BY: Arianna Wechter
Florence Pugh always brings something new to red carpet. For this list, we'll be looking at outfit choices by the actress while she was on the red carpet that made our jaws drop. Our countdown includes "Black Widow" UK premiere, London Film Festival, Vanity Fair Oscars Party, and more!

#10: Dior’s Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2021-22 Show
Dior (2021)

Part of what makes Florence’s style so interesting is her penchant for edgier, more avant-garde looks. Combine that with a fashion house as iconic as Dior, and you have a winning combination. Wearing a stunning floral two piece created by the brand with chunky combat boots, this deceptively casual outfit caused her to make a splash at their Fall/Winter fashion show. While the actress doesn’t make too many appearances at fashion shows like this, when she does, her outfits are discussed for days. This certainly wasn’t an exception– fans of the actress were obsessed with this haute couture look. Although it may get overshadowed by her later fashion show looks, this outfit set the bar high.

9: “Little Women” London Photocall
Emilia Wickstead (2019)

When thinking of “Little Women”, most people have a set aesthetic already in mind. Florence definitely delivered on this aesthetic when she wore this gorgeous pink gingham dress by Emilia Wickstead to a photocall for the London premiere. In fact, we’re sure that Amy March herself would love this dress! While classy, the dress also had a modern edge, and Florence looked elegant as she walked the red - actually pink - carpet. She perfectly matched the event’s pink decor, without blending into the background, all while standing out amongst her castmates. Although this dress is a bit more simple than some of Florence’s subsequent red carpet looks, this appearance proved that she doesn’t need to pull out all the stops to make a splash at these events.

#8: Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 11th Annual Governors Awards
Valentino (2019)

This was from the first Governors Awards Florence hass ever attended and it’s obvious how much this one look has had an impact on her overall style. The star donned a vibrant purple dress from Valentino, with a ruffled shoulder that gave her a powerful silhouette. The actress practically commanded attention from the press that night, and her dress stood out amongst the other gowns. With this look, she proved that she can pull off more experimental outfits, and started experimenting more with her style as a result. Additionally, this was one of Florence’s first collaborations with Valentino – a designer that she now works with consistently. After seeing the way she rocked this dress on the red carpet, it’s clear why Valentino continues working with her.

#7: Tiffany & Co. Exhibition Opening
Emilia Wickstead (2022)

This was another collaboration between Florence and Emilia Wickstead, and it was a complete 180 from the dress she wore to the “Little Women”' premiere. While that dress was perfect for that specific event, this outfit was more in-tune to Florence’s current style: a semi-sheer, black lace set. The outfit was paired with long black gloves, diamonds, tall black pumps, and slicked back hair, giving the whole outfit a more mature presentation for the “Vision & Virtuosity" event. The star also kept her septum piercing out for this event, adding a bit of edge to the overall aesthetic. With this look, Florence proved that the occasion doesn’t have to be a traditional red carpet event for her to go all out.

#6: Vanity Fair Oscars Party
Louis Vuitton (2020)

The stunning green gown from Louis Vuitton was only the first of Florence’s amazing looks at the 92nd Academy Awards. After the ceremony, Florence revealed a second Louis Vuitton gown, although this one was practically the opposite of the gown she had been wearing earlier. While the first gown was vibrant with layered tiers, the second gown was darker and form-fitting. A perfect combination of classy and sexy, this dress was perfect for an Oscars after party. Despite it being her first appearance at the Academy Awards, Florence blew everyone away when she stepped onto the red carpet. Now, fans have high expectations for her appearance at the 2023 ceremony– and we don’t blame them at all!

#5: 75th British Academy Film Awards
Carolina Herrera (2022)

If there’s one thing Florence will always excell at, it’s serving a gorgeous look at the BAFTAs. Whether it’s a simpler, classically beautiful look like her 2020 pre-party dress, or her 2022 awards show look, orshe never disappoints. At the latter’s BAFTAs, she wore a sleek black mini-dress with a long, baby pink bow attached to it. Fashion lovers and fans of Pugh all loved the unique and fresh spin on a classic piece. Slicked back hair, dramatic eyeliner, and Florence’s now-signature septum piercing helped elevate this look to an even higher level. We hope she will continue to work with Carolina Herrera again after this iconic look.

#4: London Film Festival
Valentino (2022)

This may be the most recent red carpet look on the list, but it has already made a huge impact amongst Florence’s followers. At the London Film Festival screening of her 2022 movie, “The Wonder”, Florence opted for a vibrant coral gown that immediately made her stand out on the red carpet. Posing with ease, Florence showed just how beautiful the dress is in motion, especially when it’s completely flared out. This is also a more traditional gown than she’s worn over in the previous months, and wearing this reminded fans that she looks just as gorgeous wearing these as she does in her more editorial looks. Every angle of this dress is stunning, especially when it’s in motion, and Florence made sure to show it off at every opportunity.

#3: “Black Widow” UK Premiere
Miu Miu (2021)

If there’s one thing Florence excelled in at the London premiere for “Black Widow”, it was perfectly channeling her character, Yelena, in the look she presented on the red carpet. Donning a black, lace up two piece gown with a sparkly silver choker, the actress looked effortlessly cool yet sophisticated. Her vibrant pink-tipped hair and complementary makeup only add to the look, matching the tone of the exciting event. The stakes were high, as it was for Florence’s first superhero blockbuster movie. It was also her first major event since the pandemic had started. However, she easily exceeded everyone’s expectations with this gown, and looked stellar as she helped introduce Marvel’s then-newest project. We’re sure that even Yelena would love this dress!

#2: Valentino’s Fall 2022 Couture Show
Valentino (2022)

This is Florence’s most controversial– yet inspiring– look so far. While attending the Valentino Autumn Haute Couture show, she made jaws drop when she revealed her outfit– a sheer, hot pink gown. While she looked gorgeous, there was immediate backlash– mostly from those who believed she didn’t look “good enough” to wear sheer material. Florence gracefully clapped back, penning an extremely powerful Instagram caption about what the look meant to her. She also criticized the idea that women have to be completely covered to be seen as beautiful. The fact that she completely owned the look and didn’t give haters the reaction they wanted was inspiring to countless fans of hers, and also cemented this look as a piece of fashion history.

#1: “Don’t Worry Darling” Venice Film Festival Screening
Valentino (2022)

No amount of drama could overshadow this already iconic look! After not making an appearance at “Don’t Worry Darling” press events, fans of Florence were worried she wouldn’t be at the Venice Film Festival at all. So when she made a surprise appearance at the screening of the movie wearing an off the shoulder gown from Valentino, the reaction was immense. The dress was a perfect addition to Florence’s fashion repertoire– classically gorgeous with a bit of edge, covered in glittery sequins, and unapologetically dramatic. This decadent look encapsulated the lavish vibe of the event perfectly. As soon as she stepped onto the red carpet, all eyes were on her, and any mention of the drama surrounding the film was swiftly forgotten - at least momentarily.
