Top 10 Moments That Made Us Love Robert Pattinson

Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the most endearing, charming and finest moments Robert Pattinson has blessed us with throughout his career.

#10: His “24 Hours” Interview With Vogue

Spending a whole day with your favorite celebrity sounds like a dream. But while most of us may never get that chance in real life, Vogue’s “24 Hours” series offers the next best thing. In 2020, the magazine shadowed Robert Pattinson for a day, while he was in Paris to attend Dior’s Fall 2020 menswear show. The six-minute clip captured Pattinson chatting with Dior’s in-house perfumer, trying out fragrances and sitting front row at the fashion event. It also gave us a glimpse into the actor’s goofy side, which is equal parts awkward and endearing. We have just one complaint: six minutes was not nearly enough time.

#9: “I Am Better Than You” Scene From “Good Time”

Robert Pattinson shot to fame as Edward Cullen in “The Twilight Saga” film series. While the role made him a household name, it also subjected him to a lot of ridicule, as many mocked his apparently stilted acting. However, a few years after the franchise ended, Pattinson silenced his detractors with a gripping performance in “Good Time,” where he played Connie Nikas, a desperate bank robber trying to bail out his brother. One standout scene features a tense argument between Connie and his criminal partner, Ray, who challenges Connie’s sense of superiority, only to be immediately shut down. The scene spawned memes after the film’s release, and showed how effortlessly Pattinson could shed his “Twilight” reputation and embody a complex character.

#8: His Reddit AMA

To promote his film “Good Time,” Robert Pattinson joined Reddit for an “Ask Me Anything” session with fans. If you know anything about Pattinson, you know he’s a goldmine in Q&A settings, and this one was no exception. Pattinson gave a variety of humorous and candid answers, proving again that he’s not afraid to give fans a peek into his personal life. He shared that rosé is his go-to drink, admitted his life outside of acting sucks, and joked that he only thinks about joining social media “in dark moments.” In one of his more hilarious responses, Pattinson claimed that he doesn’t get bitten by mosquitoes because his blood is toxic, a particularly ironic statement from a former on-screen vampire.

#7: Recounting His Near Dismissal From “Twilight”

“Twilight” changed Robert Pattinson’s life, but it turns out the actor was nearly kicked off the film before the saga even began. Always one to fully commit to every role, Pattinson initially took the part a bit too seriously, cranking up Edward Cullen’s brooding nature to the extreme. The actor revealed in an interview with Howard Stern that his approach clashed with the producers’ vision, and his insistence to portray the character the way he wanted made them actually consider firing him. It wasn’t until his agents flew over to the set to give him a much-needed wake-up call that he switched gears and brought a bit more range to his performance.

#6: When He Bored a Stalker Away

For all the charisma Robert Pattinson exudes on screen, he swears he can bore anyone in just two minutes. Like many other famous faces, Pattinson has dealt with a stalker; in his case, a woman who would wait outside his apartment for weeks while he was filming a movie in Spain. While other celebrities might call the authorities or file a restraining order, Pattinson had a uniquely different approach: he invited her on a date. Whatever romantic fantasy she had in mind quickly crumbled though, as Pattison reportedly bombarded her with the most mundane details of his life, which successfully drove her away. We’re not saying this is a foolproof strategy, but boredom might just be the ultimate repellant.

#5: His “Actors on Actors” Interview With Jennifer Lopez

Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lopez aren’t names you’d typically associate with each other. Yet, in 2019, Variety brought them together for their “Actors on Actors” series in one of their most unexpected pairings. Surprisingly, the unlikely match worked in the audience’s favor, offering insights into both actors as they discovered new things about each other. Pattinson, in particular, showed a deep appreciation for Lopez’s work, even naming a lesser-known film from 2000 as his favorite of hers. He also revealed his dream of featuring in a ballet movie. Not because he has any talent for it, but because he thinks there is a ballerina inside of him. We eagerly await the “Black Swan” sequel starring Robert Pattinson.

#4: When He Accepted the “Best Kiss” Award

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart dominated the “Best Kiss” category at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, winning a record four times for their performances in “The Twilight Saga.” By their third win in 2011, Pattinson seemed to be getting tired of their usual acceptance speech routine. So he decided to shake things up a bit. The actor joked that he and Stewart, who was his girlfriend at the time, were both fed up with kissing each other and wanted something new. He then bolted into the audience and locked lips with their “Twilight” co-star Taylor Lautner instead. The move caught everyone off guard, apparently even Lautner—a testament to the fact that Pattinson is anything but predictable.

#3: When He Made up a Story About a Clown Death

Robert Pattinson has gained quite the reputation for spinning tall tales during movie press tours. Perhaps his most infamous lie occurred in 2011, when he appeared on the “Today” show with Matt Lauer to promote the film “Water for Elephants.” When Lauer asked if he had ever considered joining the circus as a child, Pattinson immediately responded with a dramatic tale. He claimed that his first circus experience was traumatizing because he had witnessed the death of a clown. Though the story sounded suspicious, he insisted it was true. That is, until he casually confessed days later that he made it up. We adore the guy, but at this point, can we really believe anything he says?

#2: His “Twilight” DVD Commentary

When “Twilight” hit theaters in 2008, critics weren’t exactly kind to it. But even their harshest reviews paled in comparison to the opinions of the film’s star, Robert Pattinson. Over the years, Pattinson has openly criticized various aspects of the movie, but his most unfiltered remarks came during the DVD commentary. The actor mocked everything, from his own acting and the film’s direction, to minor details like the unrealistic physics of a hurtling van, all while next to director Catherine Hardwicke. He also admitted that one scene made him cringe so hard that he had to walk out of the theater during the premiere. If that isn’t the most relatable reaction to watching yourself on screen, we don’t know what is.

#1: The Train Station Fight Scene From “The Batman”

Due to his association with “The Twilight Saga,” Robert Pattinson’s casting as Batman sparked outrage from fans of the Caped Crusader. Many doubted he had the grit to pull it off, but it didn’t take long for Pattinson to prove them all wrong. In the film’s first major action sequence, Batman is given a powerful introduction, as he emerges from the shadows to confront a gang at a train station. From his menacing footsteps to the aggressive punches and gritty cinematography, every element is designed to establish him as a terrifying presence. The scene is neither flashy nor prolonged, but it sets the right tone for the entire film. By the end, one thing is clear: there is no role Robert Pattinson can’t master.
