Something tells us that ticket sales will be on the rise next year! Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Most Anticipated Movie Sequels of 2018.

For this list, we’ll be including sequels, prequels, or additional installments to a particular franchise.

#10: “Creed II” (2018)

“Creed" (2015)

When “Creed” dropped in 2015 the world was understandably excited. A spin-off of the famed “Rocky” franchise about Apollo Creed’s son being training by Rocky himself… what’s not to like? Well, get ready ladies and gents, because “Creed II” is going to be even better ( if the plot doesn’t drastically change between now and the release date). According to IMDB, “Creed II” will pit Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed against the man who killed his father, “Rocky IV’s” Ivan Drago. Fans of the franchise will remember that Drago was the Soviet heavyweight who looked like he was made in a laboratory. So yeah, we’re pretty pumped to see Adonis hop in the ring with him!

#9: “Insidious: The Last Key” (2018)

“Insidious: The Last Key” (2018) Distributed by Universal Pictures

The fourth installment in the “Insidious” franchise is poised to be one of the best horror films of 2018. “Insidious: The Last Key” will serve as a sequel to “Insidious: Chapter 3”, which was actually a prequel to the first two films in the franchise. It will once again focus on parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier, as she returns to her family home to battle yet another demonic spirit. As she attempts to ward off demons from the Further, audiences will surely be gripping their armrests in fear, as the thing this franchise does better than anyone else is scare the living daylights out of its fans!

#8: “Ant-Man and the Wasp” (2018)

Let’s be honest, if Paul Rudd is headlining your film, chances are we’re buying tickets. The actor is back for the second installment in the “Ant-Man” franchise, which already has a release date. So put a big red circle around July 6, 2018. The film will take place in the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War”, which means audiences will finally have a chance to see the world’s tiniest superhero flex his muscles in a big way. At least that’s what we hope based on what he did in that film’s iconic airport fight scene. “Ant-Man and the Wasp” is shaping up to be one of next years must-see flicks!

#7: “Mission: Impossible 6” (2018)

Ethan Hunt is back, baby! After a three-year hiatus, Hunt and his crack team of IMF agents are ready to return to action. And they’ve brought some new friends! Rounding out the cast of Cruise, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg will be Henry Cavill and Alec Baldwin; though it’s not yet clear who, if any, will be playing the baddie. While the franchise has already grossed more than $2 billion at the box office, don’t expect anything less than a no-holds-barred thrill ride of epic proportions! “Mission: Impossible 6” will be coming to a theater near you on July 27, 2018.

#6: “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” (2018)

Wolverine may be gone, but that doesn’t mean the seventh-highest grossing film series of all time is planning on slowing down! 2018 will feature not one but two “X-Men” films. The first, as you’ve probably guessed, is “X-Men: Dark Phoenix”, a direct sequel to “X-Men: Apocalypse”. The film is set ten years after the events of “Apocalypse” and will feature the X-Men trying to control Jean Grey’s sinister alter-ego: Dark Phoenix. The second “X-Men” film is called “New Mutants” and will focus on a group of young mutants fighting to escape from a secret facility. 2018 is going to be a good year for mutant lovers!

#5: Untitled “Fantastic Beasts” Sequel” (2018)

We’re just going to say it: the world can never have enough films set in the “Harry Potter” universe; and with a cast as good as this, the sequel to 2016’s “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” looks like a surefire hit. Eddie Redmayne, Johnny Depp and Katherine Waterston are all set to return, but the biggest revelation will definitely be Jude Law, who has signed on to play the younger version of everybody’s favorite Hogwarts headmaster: Albus Dumbledore. With “Harry Potter” alumni David Yates back in the director’s chair, you can sleep easy knowing that the untitled “Fantastic Beasts” sequel is in good hands.

#4: “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” (2018)

You know what they say about dinosaurs: more is always better. “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” will undoubtedly be one of 2018’s biggest blockbusters, and not just because its predecessor holds the distinction of being the fourth-highest grossing film of all-time. No, the main reason this will be a surefire hit is because Jeff Goldblum is back! That’s right, Dr. Ian Malcolm will make his triumphant return. While little is known about the plot of “Fallen Kingdom”, we think it’s safe to assume the following three things: there will be dinosaurs, there will be humans trying to control them and there will be blood. A lot of blood. We can’t wait!

#3: “Deadpool 2” (2018)

June 1, 2018 can’t come fast enough. Ryan Reynolds’ performance as the fast-talking gun-for-hire Wade Wilson in 2016’s “Deadpool” was easily one of the year’s best. Now the R-rated franchise is poised for an even bigger showing, as “Deadpool 2” promises to up the ante in a very big way. For starters, the cast is getting a significant boost thanks to the addition of Josh Brolin, who will play Cable, a time-traveling soldier. Second, if the “No Good Deed” short film teaser is any indication, “Deadpool 2” will feature the same level of blood, gore and dark humor that made the first film a box office smash. And third… Ryan Reynolds is awesome. That is all.

#2: “The Incredibles 2” (2018)

WE ARE SO PUMPED FOR THIS FILM IT’S NOT EVEN FUNNY! Fourteen years after “The Incredibles” leapt off the screen and into our hearts, the world is finally getting a much-overdue dose of everyone’s favorite super family! The film will pick up right where its predecessor left off, with Mr. Incredible and the rest of his gifted brood gearing up to battle the Underminer. One new addition will be Jack-Jack, the family’s shape-shifting toddler, who, with any luck, will turn out to be a total scene-stealer. Mark your calendars: this one will hit theaters on June 15, 2018!

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:

“Pacific Rim: Uprising” (2018)

“The Predator” (2018)

“Halloween” (2018)

#1: “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018)

You’d think that after 18 films the Marvel Cinematic Universe would start to get boring, yet the world has been waiting with bated breath for the sequel to 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron”. The gang is back for a long awaited showdown with Thanos, the baddest man in the universe, but this time they’ll be teaming up with Peter Quill, Rocket and the rest of the gang from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films. With an all-star cast, stellar plot and a budget that is reportedly north of ONE BILLION DOLLARS, “Avengers: Infinity War” is, without a doubt, the most anticipated film of 2018.
