Top 10 Most Expensive Beanie Babies

Top 10 Most Expensive Beanie Babies
VOICE OVER: Sophia Franklin WRITTEN BY: Jesse Singer
You may be sitting on a goldmine with these expensive Beanie Babies. For this list, we'll be looking at the costliest Beanie Babies out there. Our countdown includes Jake the Mallard Duck, Blackie the Bear, Gobbles the Turkey, and more!

#10: Jake the Mallard Duck
$15,000

When it comes to ducks, most of us probably think of Donald, and maybe even Howard. But it turns out we should be spending our time trying to find Jake. That’s assuming $15,000 sounds good to you. Because that’s what a Jake the Duck beanie baby sold for on eBay back on December 23rd, 2021. Now, to be fair, there are also ones that sell for much less. As you probably know, the value comes down to many factors. With Beanie Babies, there are often major price jumps for items with errors of some kind. One thing’s for sure, we’ll never underestimate a duck named Jake again.

#9: Millennium the Bear
$15,000

Many were spending 1999 worrying about the technological crash that they thought was to happen on January 1st the following year. But others were purchasing Millennium Bear beanie babies to celebrate the end of the 20th century. And while Y2K turned out to be nothing, some of those bears ended up being worth a whole lotta something. Released on January 1st 1999 and retired on November 12th of that same year, not all of these adorable fuschia-colored beanies will make you rich. However, one did sell for $15,000 in 2021. And to that we say Y2Yay!

#8: Blackie the Bear
$15,000

Reportedly inspired by the Cubbie beanie baby, the Ty company gave us Blackie the Bear in 1994. Blackie is an adorable brown-nosed black bear who was in production until 1998. These days, you can find a basic pre-owned one of these cute toys for under 10 bucks. But in the right state, with the proper tag errors, you’re going to need a lot more than that to make Blackie yours. In fact, one person spent $15,000 on eBay in 2021 to get the Blackie of what we can only assume was their childhood dreams.

#7: The End Bear
$17,000

You know that expression, “it ain’t over till it’s over?” Well, when the Ty corporation released The End Bear in 1999, it was supposed to be over. They announced that they were shutting down beanie baby production, and this black bear was meant to be the last one. The words “the end” are literally on its chest. But as many of you know, more beanies later came. The people convinced Ty to revive the beloved toys, so they did. And the 2000 New Year Beginning Bear is often fittingly offered with The End one as a nice set. However, it was a solo The End Bear that went for $17,000 in 2021.

#6: Whisper the Deer
$20,000

Forget about “Bambi”, Whisper is the Deer that every parent should have been exposing their children to back in the late ‘90s. Sure, “Bambi” is a sweet and heartwarming story about loss, love, rebirth, and the importance of all the earth’s creatures. But we can’t ignore the fact that in 2021, a Whisper the Deer beanie baby sold on eBay for $20,000. Obviously, all the stars need to align for the toy to go at that price, desired errors and all. But for $20,000, it’s time for us all to become deer hunters - the beanie baby kind of course. We still haven’t forgiven the person who killed Bambi’s mom.

#5: Clubby the Bear
$20,000

Don’t worry, this toy bear isn’t an arctic seal hunter. Clubby seemingly got his name because of the button he wears, indicating that he’s a member of the Beanie Babies Official Club. Get it, “club”, “clubby”? Nomenclature aside, there are supposedly many fakes out there to beware of. But if you do have an authentic Clubby with all the best stuff, you could join a club more exclusive than the official Beanie Babies one. We’re talking about the club of people who have sold a beanie baby for $20 000, as someone did with their Clubby the Bear in 2021.

#4: Princess the Bear
$20,000

The death of Princess Diana in 1997 shocked and saddened people all over the world. Following her passing, people everywhere mourned and celebrated the People’s Princess in a variety of ways. The Ty corporation was no exception, releasing Princess the Bear in her honor. They also announced that all the profit from its sales would go to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. Many people think that this is one of the rarest beanie babies out there, though there’s some debate there. It isn’t necessarily guaranteed to sell for a lot of money. However, many sell for a solid amount, with one going for a whopping $20,000 in 2021.

#3: Halo the Bear
$23,500

Robbie Williams sang about them and the Philadelphia company has used them to sell us cream cheese. We all love angels. So it makes sense that the beanie baby angel, Halo the Bear, can be one of the most expensive Ty creations out there. As is the case with every beanie baby, you need to have the right one in the right condition. Well, one lucky eBay seller found someone willing to shell out $23,500 for their Halo bear. And while that price is heavenly, there were eBay listings in 2022 that hovered around the $500 range, which isn’t bad either.

#2: Gobbles the Turkey
$24,000

It turns out turkey isn’t just a Thanksgiving tradition. It’s also the inspiration for one of the highest-priced beanie babies in recent memory. In 2021, a charmed individual sold their Gobbles the Turkey beanie baby for the impressive price of $24,000 on eBay. We don’t know what exactly made that particular Gobbles so valuable. But based on other higher-price sales, it was most probably in mint condition and rocking some desired tag errors that made it quite rare. So go check your Gobbles right now! While it won’t make a great next-day sandwich, it could make you a nice chunk of change.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

#1: Valentino the Bear
$42,300

According to the poem on his tag, Valentino the Bear has a heart full of love. And thanks to a version with design mistakes ranging from typos to nose color, a 2019 eBay seller found his bank account full of money. This richer-than-he-was-the-day-before person reportedly sold their rare, error-filled Valentino for $42,300. There is some disagreement out there over the real value of Valentino bears - with some claiming the hype over them is overdone. And that might be true in some cases. But as we’ve mentioned, the right one at the right time with the right buyer could make you a pretty penny.
