These characters have captured our hearts – despite their peculiarities. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re counting down our picks of the top 10 most lovable TV weirdoes. For this list we’re looking at the strange TV characters that we’ve grown to love over the years.

#10: Morgan Tookers “The Mindy Project” (2012-)

Also in:

Top 10 Times Piers Morgan Went Too Far

Lacking any kind of filter or shame, this male nurse is arguably the most hilarious part of The Mindy Project. Confident to a fault and inappropriate in nearly every way, viewers can count on Morgan to drive any conversation to new and strange places that no rational person would ever think of. Perhaps the best quality of this ex-con, though, is the wisdom he is able to spout on seemingly any subject at any given moment – all of which is inherently off-kilter.

#9: Steve Urkel “Family Matters” (1989-98)

Also in:

Top 10 Best Steve Harvey Reactions to Family Feud Answers

Originally earmarked to appear in one episode, Urkel took over the show and turned it into a hit that lasted nine seasons. An incredibly sweet and loyal character, he may have been a tornado of destruction in the Winslow clan’s lives but he is undoubtedly a part of the family by the end of the show. Popular enough to crossover to other programs like “Step by Step” and “Full House,” Urkel for a time was the country’s most beloved weirdo. And he plays the accordion, so there’s that.

#8: Michael Scott “The Office” (2005-13)

Top 10 Worst Things Michael Scott Has Done

For all of the ridiculousness that was the Michael Scott character, most fans of the show would be happy to tell you how much they grew to love him. Unabashedly emotionally involved with his employees, Michael’s erratic behavior may’ve oftentimes driven them nuts, but it just as often made them laugh. Despite sharing the screen with other weirdoes like Dwight Schrute, it’s the sweetness in the character that makes him so lovable.

#7: April Ludgate “Parks and Recreation” (2009-15)

Also in:

Top 10 Times April was a Savage on Parks and Recreation

A monotone voice and a face that lacks expression are the calling cards of this woman, who took an increasingly prominent role with each season of the show. Witty and sarcastic, she sees herself as the smartest person in the room, and among her peers in public service she may just be right. Her relationship with Chris Pratt’s Andy Dwyer allowed her to become much more relatable and seeing their relationship grow is what helped turn her into a fan favorite.

#6: The Doctor “Doctor Who” (1963-89; 2005-)

Also in:

Top 20 Greatest Doctor Who Villains

Not many shows last half a century and even fewer have had over a dozen different actors play a character, but if any other show pulled off that impressive feat, we doubt they’d be able to keep that character consistently weird. Travelling through space and time in an unreliable time machine does nothing to dampen your sense of humor; in fact, as it turns out, it may just strengthen it. Crafted with that perfect British dry comedy, The Doctor is the awkward James Bond of sci-fi and we love it.

#5: Tobias Fünke “Arrested Development” (2003-06; 2013)

The most outlandish character on a show that is populated almost entirely with them, Tobias seems to only get stranger as the show goes on. Whether it’s his inability to be nude no matter what, his attempts to join the Blue Man Group or when he stole the plot of Mrs. Doubtfire and turned himself into Mrs. Featherbottom, he constantly keeps you guessing. Despite it all, audiences always knew that this Analrapist’s heart was always in the right place and loved him for it.

#4: Abed Nadir “Community” (2009-)

Whether he’s making an avant-garde student film or hosting a morning show without cameras, a TV station or any way for people to watch, Abed’s strange behavior is legendary. Finding fellowship in the company of his study group, Abed’s attempts at embracing actual emotions or relating to people have been successful in very small ways, but he understands his peers best when comparing situations with pop culture references. Living his life through television and movie tropes, it’s his vulnerability that ultimately earns him the adoration of audiences.

#3: Cosmo Kramer “Seinfeld” (1989-98)

Arguably one of the funniest television creations of all time, Kramer just happens to also be one of the strangest, too. Taking part in the long-standing TV tradition of the kooky neighbor, Kramer was the first Seinfeld character to really grab audience attention, and for good reason. Erratic and hilarious, we could always rest assured that in each new episode, Kramer would find something completely new and insanely bizarre to take up his otherwise simple life.

#2: Sheldon Cooper “The Big Bang Theory” (2007-)

Also in:

The Big Bang Theory VS Young Sheldon

You know that when your friends and family are prone to joking about whether you are in fact an alien or a robot, you may just be a little bit weird. Incredibly smart yet lacking social graces or concerns, you can always depend on Sheldon to infuriate and amuse his cohorts at a moment’s notice. Seemingly asexual, Sheldon’s strange interactions with others may have improved slightly over the years, but he remains apart from his peers and the rest of humanity – except perhaps his girlfriend Amy Farrah Fowler. Before we reveal our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. - Phoebe Buffay “Friends” (1994-2004) - The Janitor “Scrubs” (2001-10) - Kenneth Parcell “30 Rock” (2006-13) - Charlie Kelly “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” (2005-) - Jess Day “New Girl” (2011-) - Kimmy Gibbler “Full House” (1987-95) - Samuel ‘Screech’ Powers “Saved by the Bell” (1989-93)

#1: Mr. Bean “Mr. Bean” (1990-95)

A near silent, lanky man who finds himself in typical situations but makes them seem like madcap adventures, Mr. Bean’s antics allowed him to take the world by storm. The lack of speech allowed his humor to translate to any language, and it took a mere fifteen episodes for the character to become a comedy legend. If that’s not evidence of Mr. Bean’s impact, we don’t know what is. Whether he’s celebrating Christmas or taking fighting lessons, there’s no activity we won’t enjoy seeing this man attempt to complete. Do you agree with our list? Who is your favorite TV weirdo?
