Top 10 Most Violent Anime Fights
Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the battles across the anime scene that literally pulled no punches. Expect bodies to be broken and spoilers to lie ahead.

#10: Rock, Paper, Slaughter

“Hunter x Hunter” (2011-14)
Gon’s streak as an adorable, gutsy kid who could throw a mean right hook went out the window following his final confrontation with this feline royal guard. After Pitou reveals they have no intention of bringing Kite back from the dead and was going to kill them all regardless…the last tether of Gon’s morality snaps. Unbothered about anything save for destroying Pitou, he sacrifices all his Nen in order to achieve a temporary transformation…one capable of breaking Pitou into bloody chunks. Which he does, repeatedly.

#9: The Ultimate Body Blow

“Hajime no Ippo” (2000-2014)
Turns out that back in his heyday, Old Man Kamogawa was an absolute beast of a boxer. After his bestie is savaged by an American soldier during a match, Kamogawa decides to avenge him personally. By training his fists to the point that he essentially destroys the nerves, Ippo’s future coach is able to devastate Anderson in the ring. While he’s forced to endure more than his fair share of blows, he returns them with enough staggering focus to shatter Anderson’s skeleton. He literally imprinted his fist onto the man’s sternum! There’s no coming back from that!

#8: Guts and Gore

“Berserk” (1997-98)
Given the immensity of his strength, the size of his sword and a lifetime on the battlefield, taking on a whole battalion of soldiers is no problem for a swordsman like Guts. Taking on a hundred soldiers all be his lonesome in one night…that’s a different story. In order to give Casca time to escape, Guts take on the full force of a legion of enemy knights…where he proceeds to massacre all of them. Not that it’s easy, by the time the dawn breaks Guts is barely hanging on, though that’s more than can be said for his foes who have all been hacked to pieces.

#7: Amen

“Hellsing Ultimate” (2006-12)
The blood-spattered rivalry between the likes of Alucard and Anderson seemed like it was going to last for an eternity. After all, how do you kill the original vampire and a self-regenerating Catholic rage machine? Alas, all things must come to an end. After Alucard nearly breaks Anderson’s engineered body thanks to his near endless summons, the Judas Priest turns the tables by juicing up on the holy spirit. And by that we mean stabbing himself with the nail that killed Christ, and turning into an unholy thorn monster. From there, the two monsters go all out, with Alucard emerging the victor courtesy of literally breaking Anderson’s heart.

#6: Tastes Like Pickles

“Baki” (2018-23)
You take one look at a man like Jack Hanma, and you’d be forgiven for thinking the man was unbeatable. He’s a huge slab of beef who looks like he uses mountains as punching bags. Unfortunately for him, his opponent just happens to be a caveman who stands at the apex of strength. Even with the blood of the Ogre running through his veins, Jack gets utterly mauled by Pickle. Not only does he get out done in pure punching power, but the caveman damn well chews off half Jack’s face! Get’s how they scrapped back in the Jurassic Period.

#5: The Hammer Falls

“Attack on Titan” (2013-23)
Eren’s rampage across Marley was a bloodbath of epic proportions, wherein he not only responded to their declaration of war, but went about destroying their secret weapon – the Warhammer Titan – in the most gruesome of manners. With the Warhammer’s human host sealed in crystal, Eren has to get creative, and settles on using the Jaw Titan’s as an unwilling nutcracker in order to shatter, and ultimately kill, the occupant within – leaving Eren free to gulp down the bloody remains, taking their power for himself in the process.

#4: Rengoku Pops Off

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train” (2020)
The Flame Hashira is no slouch of a swordsman, demonstrated when he was able to slice through a train full of demons single-handedly. Unfortunately, Akaza is no regular demon. Up against the third strongest of the Upper Moons, Rengoku is pushed to his limits, and while their skills appear evenly matched, Akaza’s instant regeneration slowly starts to turn the tide of battle. And yet, through force of will alone, Rengoku was able to come within inches of taking the demon’s head AFTER being impaled, might we add. A coward’s retreat may have earned Akaza the win on a technicality, but we all know really came out on top in the battle of attrition.

#3: We Can’t Believe This Made it to Air

“Dragon Ball Z” (1989-96)
It’s times like these that you realise that, yeah, Dragon Ball could actually be really, really, violent. Though few one-sided beatdowns were as dark as Videl taking on Spopovich at the world martial arts tournament. Imbued with Babadi’s magic, the Majin musclehead savages Videl within an inch of her life, whilst also prolonging the fight to maximise her suffering. It makes for a hard watch, and we’re still salty we don’t get to see Gohan beat his ass afterwards!

#2: Mahito to Mojito

“Jujutsu Kaisen” (2020-23)
You’d struggle to find a more lamentable villain than the likes of Mahito – a curse who thrives on cruelty, especially when it comes to Itadori. No surprise that their final confrontation went off the rails. Between Itadori beating the tar out of Mahito with countless Black Flashes all the way to striking the fear of God into him, the battle is overflowing with animosity, exhaustion and primality, one that finally saw the curse stripped down his perch and dragged through the mud. Given all the pain he had caused, it was justly deserved.

#1: Hail to the King

“Solo Leveling” (2024-)
With their combined firepower, it was no surprise to see the likes of Cha and the other S-Rank Hunters were able to waltz on through a nest filled with giant, magical ants, destroying everything in their path. They were even able to take the head of its queen with relative ease. Mission accomplished. Job done. And that’s when the boss music starts playing. Upon its arrival, the Ant Queen’s last child demonstrates his unmatched ferocity – by casually bringing each of the hunters to near death with absurd ease. It even casually learns their language by devouring one of their heads. Turns out Jinwoo isn’t the only one who knows how to aura farm.
Which of these battles did you find hardest to watch? Let us know in the comments!
