VOICE OVER: Patrick Mealey WRITTEN BY: Joey Turner

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the tech assistants, comic relief, and emotional support that helped the Teens with Attitude throughout their Ranger careers. We won’t be counting mentors like Zordon since they’re worth their own list. If you’ve never seen these Morphenomenal allies in action, there will be spoilers. Who do you think was the Rangers’ most dependable ally? Let us know in the comments.

#10: Fran

“Power Rangers Jungle Fury” (2008)
Fran was a regular customer at Jungle Karma Pizza before finally being brought in to help out, unknowingly working alongside the new Jungle Fury Rangers. With the Rangers being called away so often, Fran is usually left in charge of the restaurant -feeling taken advantage of by her friends. But eventually, she finds out that her co-workers are actually the heroes this city needs, and is more than willing to help out when needed. Fran becomes a vital part of the group, not afraid to stand up to her friends when she needs to, and is usually the one to bring them back to their senses.

#9: Clare

“Power Rangers Mystic Force” (2006)
When we first met Clare, she was Udonna’s bumbling niece and apprentice sorceress. She was as sweet as can be but struggled at even the most basic spells and potions. However, there’s more to her than meets the eye – her late mother was the Gatekeeper, the legendary sorceress that sealed away the Underworld… and Clare is next in line for the title. Living up to her mother’s legacy seems impossible for poor Clare, but with a little confidence and training, she has the potential to be the all-powerful guardian she’s destined to be. But until then, her devotion to Udonna and the Rangers is more than anyone can ask for.

#8: Mason Truman

“Power Rangers RPM” (2009)
With nearly all of humanity wiped out by Venjix’s forces, the domed city of Corinth is the only safe haven left. Along with the Rangers, the city’s defenses are protected by Colonel Truman –Scott’s father. He's a tough-as-nails man who often clashes with his son on how to protect the city, but can you blame him? He's under enough pressure trying to ensure everyone’s safety, and he already lost his eldest when the war first broke out. But as long as he can cooperate with the Rangers, they have an even greater chance of ending Venjix’s tyranny. Once the war is over, he’s more than happy to work alongside his son again, and even help other Ranger teams if needed.

#7: Hayley Ziktor

“Power Rangers Dino Thunder” (2004)
It may not be Ernie’s juice bar, but Hayley’s Cyberspace is an excellent hotspot for the modern generation of Teenagers with Attitude. Most of this is thanks to the owner, Hayley herself, who mysteriously knows just what her customers need even before they do. It turns out that she’s also an old friend of Tommy’s, and helped him develop the Dino Thunder morphers. Once Tommy becomes the Black Dino Ranger, she’s recruited full-time as the Rangers’ tech support – helping to build their weapons and gadgets. Whether she’s behind a cafe counter or a computer desk, there isn’t anything Hayley can’t handle... just be sure to tell her beforehand if you need your cycle to fly.

#6: Bulk & Skull

Various
Many consider Bulk and Skull to be the REAL stars of the franchise, and it’s not hard to see why. Along with their hilarious antics, this bumbling twosome has had some of the best character development in the series. They started as typical high school punks who tease our heroes, but almost always get their comeuppance. However, over time, they went through many different arcs that saw them trying to unmask the Power Rangers, become junior law enforcers, briefly transform into chimpanzees, and even become heroes during a major crisis. In later years, Bulk even looked after Skull’s son Spike to train him as a samurai. Watching these doofuses grow as people is almost better than watching the actual Rangers.

#5: Spencer

“Power Rangers Operation Overdrive” (2007)
Andrew Hartford is a rich adventurer and the mentor for the Overdrive Rangers, but even he needs a little help. Thankfully for him, he has his faithful butler, Spencer, to keep things in order. While Hartford gives the Rangers their orders, Spencer takes the time to connect to each Ranger personally and offer them guidance when they need it most. Not only that, but he’s also a master of disguise, able to flawlessly change his face and his voice to fool those around him. His sarcastic sense of humor is the only thing sharper than his wisdom and disguises. While “Operation Overdrive” is a divisive season, Spencer stands out in the best way as the franchise’s own Alfred Pennyworth.

#4: Kat Manx

“Power Rangers S.P.D.” (2005)
The S.P.D. Rangers give it their all to protect the streets of Newtech City, but S.P.D. itself couldn’t function without Kat Manx. Kat is the head of the base’s R&D department and helped develop the Rangers’ gadgets –including the criminal containment system in their morphers. Outside of her tech smarts, she’s also a huge source of emotional counseling for both the Rangers and Commander Cruger. She even briefly got a chance to get on the battlefield as the S.P.D. Kat Ranger. While she’s more than capable of helping S.P.D. at a higher level, she knows that the Earth base is where she truly belongs. Her loyalty is rivaled only by her bumbling yet faithful assistant, Boom.

#3: Billy Cranston

“Power Rangers Zeo” (1996) & “Power Rangers Cosmic Fury” (2023)
Of course, we all know Billy as the OG Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger. In “Zeo” however, when the other Rangers get their new powers, he willingly gives up his Zeo Crystal and chooses to become a tech aid in the Power Chamber. While it’s sad that he wasn’t on the battlefield anymore, he proved to be much–needed help from the sidelines – using his vast scientific knowledge and gadgets to aid against the Machine Empire. However, near the end of the season, Billy began rapidly aging, and reluctantly left Earth to be cured. However, he would eventually return to duty and even become a mentor figure to the Cosmic Fury Rangers, once again proving that once a Ranger, ALWAYS a Ranger.

#2: Angela Fairweather

“Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue” (2000)
Lightspeed Aquabase is a government facility that created its own fleet of Rangers to combat the demons of Mariner Bay. The true mastermind of the operation is the Aquabase’s head scientist, Miss Angela Fairweather. She personally created the Rangers’ morphers, zords, and various arsenal. She's stern and professional –especially when it comes to co-worker relationships, but she also understands the Rangers’ value not only as heroes but as people. Along with being a genius, her second greatest achievement is being able to resist the charms of the egotistical Joel. However, he wins her over in the end when she learns to see the best in him.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

Circuit, “Power Rangers Time Force” (2001)

This Cute Mechanical Owl Is the Rangers’ Best Connection to the Future.

Slyther & Mucus, “Power Rangers Cosmic Fury” (2023)

This Formerly Gruesome Twosome Make Better Allies Than They Did Villains.

Phineas, “Power Rangers Mystic Force” (2006)

He May Not Be the Prettiest Troblin, but Never Underestimate Him.

Blue Senturion, “Power Rangers Turbo” (1997)

Criminals & Evil Pizzas Are No Match for This Futuristic Space Cop.

Ninjor, “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” (1993-95)

You Do Not Want to Anger the Creator of the Power Coins.

#1: Alpha 5

Various
As much as we value the efforts of Zordon and the Power Rangers, they wouldn’t be nearly as successful without the help of Alpha 5. Alpha is the trusty robot assistant and tech advisor in the Command Center. Even as a robot, Alpha is a naive, caring, and loyal friend to our heroes. He may wish he could join them on the battlefield, but the Rangers and Zordon can always rely on his help when they need it. He left with Zordon in “Turbo”, but his legacy lives on in the future Alpha models, each one carrying the same loyalty and helpfulness that made their predecessor so iconic.
