They were a Latin pop power couple, but "Jenny from the Block" Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony officially filed for divorce back in 2011, after being married for close to seven years. The pair had released a statement to People Magazine, citing the pain and difficulty of their decision to end their marriage, but eventually moved on to other partners in the wake of their split. Lopez and Anthony had twins together, and both had high profile exes, with Anthony having dated a former Miss Universe, while J.Lo had been a part of the "Bennifer" portmanteau with actor Ben Affleck in 2002.

Angelina Jolie announced her filing for divorce from Brad Pitt in September of 2016, on the grounds that it would be, "for the health of our family." The pair was together for a decade but only married for two years before revealing their separation, with Pitt asking for privacy in a prepared statement to news source CNN. Jolie requested physical custody of the pair's six children as a reported part of the divorce documents–with visitation rights granted to Pitt–and also asked to keep "miscellaneous jewelry and personal effects" from the couple's time together.
