The sweetest Homer and Marge Simpson moments have made their marriage last for over 30 years. Our countdown includes Homer understands Marge's play, reuniting at the lighthouse, "I need you to do this with me," and more!

#10: Singing “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head” “Duffless”

If there’s one thing we know about Homer, it’s that sometimes he loves a good beer a little too much. After he gets a DUI and loses his driver’s license (an incredibly serious offence), Marge challenges him to quit drinking for 30 days. It’s difficult, and he almost loses it along the way, but Homer’s love for Marge ultimately keeps him sober for that month, and beyond. When Homer and Marge ride into the sunset on a bike, singing this song to celebrate Homer’s new sobriety, we know they’re also celebrating the strength of their relationship.

#9: Keeping the Heart-Shaped Rock From Summer Camp “The Way We Weren’t”

Some of the best Homer and Marge moments come from flashbacks to their earliest days. Homer and Marge were each other’s summer camp first loves -- but mishaps and fake identities made it so they didn’t realize it until years and years later. Marge is understandably hurt when she figures out it was her now-husband who broke her heart so many years ago. The happy ending? It turns out Marge and Homer both kept half of a heart-shaped rock Homer found and gave to Marge that summer. It just goes to show you that soulmates always find their way back to each other.

#8: Homer Understands Marge’s Play “A Streetcar Named Marge”

Homer can be selfish, and Marge is very underappreciated. When she tries to do something for herself for a change -- starring in the town’s musical adaptation of “A Streetcar Named Desire” -- she takes inspiration from her life with Homer to accurately play the tragic Blanche’s relationship with the brutish Stanley, not expecting him to notice. But he DOES notice! He makes those connections when he comes to see the show, and it makes him realize he needs to appreciate his wife a lot more. It’s a beautiful, rare moment of self awareness from Homer, and one that helps the couple grow together.

#7: Marge Drives Homer Home From the Prom “The Way We Was”

Marge spends a disastrous prom night with Artie Ziff, voiced by occasional “Simpsons” guest star Jon Lovitz. As Artie drives her home, Marge finds Homer on the side of the road and realizes who she should have gone to the prom with from the start. We love watching Homer and Marge fall in love over and over again, but there’s nothing as special as watching it happen in the beginning. Homer tells Marge that when he gets out of the car he’s going to hug her, and kiss her, and never let her go -- and we know how much he means it.

#6: Reuniting at the Lighthouse “El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)”

After embarrassing himself -- and Marge -- at the annual chili cookoff, Homer embarks on a spiritual journey through the desert to find his soulmate, with the help of a magical space coyote voiced by the late Johnny Cash. When he comes to, Marge is still upset, so Homer searches elsewhere for the One. He ends up in the Springfield lighthouse, where Marge comes and finds him in his lowest moment -- confirming for us that, no matter how angry Marge gets, or how much Homer messes up, she will always love him, and the two will always be soulmates. The moment when the light catches Marge gives us chills just thinking about it.

#5: Marge Reads Homer a Poem Before He “Dies” “One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish”

Homer accidentally eats some poisoned sushi and is given 24 hours to live. The ways he chooses to spend his last day on earth are all individually touching, but what really sticks with us is his final moments with Marge, who took the time to write and read a final poem for her nearly-deceased husband. The moment is a major tearjerker, and we get the sense of just how much these people mean to one another in the end. It makes it that much more emotional to watch as Marge discovers Homer the next morning and realizes he’s survived.

#4: Homer Chooses Marge Over Mindy “The Last Temptation of Homer”

Marge and Homer have each struggled with being attracted to people outside of their marriage -- Marge with her bowling instructor Jacques, and Homer with Mindy, a new hire at the nuclear plant who shares his love of food. When Homer and Mindy, voiced by Michelle Pfeiffer, get sent away on a weekend trip to Capital City, Homer has to weigh his workplace crush against his relationship with his wife. In the end, Homer chooses Marge. Flirtations come and go, but Homer ultimately knows that you only find a Marge once in a lifetime.

#3: Homer Divorces Marge So They Can Get Remarried “A Milhouse Divided”

Divorce is the topic all throughout Springfield when Kirk and Luann Van Houten call it quits. The Simpson kids worry that their parents will be the next couple to split. It’s true that Homer and Marge think critically about the successes and failures of their relationship in the following weeks, but when Homer decides to divorce Marge, it’s actually for the sweetest reason. This way, they can renew their vows, and commit to each other all over again.

#2: “I Need You To Do This With Me” “The Simpsons Movie” (2007)

Sometimes, marital trust means you move to Alaska, no questions asked, just because your husband asks you to. There are a lot of great moments in the series where Homer and Marge decide to trust each other, but none are as strong and specific as the moment from “The Simpsons Movie,” where Homer tells Marge, “I need you to do this with me.” We know that Marge would go to the ends of the Earth for her Homie, but this moment really proves it. The movie deals with higher stakes situations than a typical episode, so it makes sense that this feels so momentous in their relationship. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. Marge Surprises Homer at Work “Life on the Fast Lane” Marge Remembers Homer After Amnesia “Regarding Margie” Jackson Browne Writes a Song for Marge “Brake My Wife, Please” Homer Lets General Sherman Go “The War of the Simpsons” Marge Sings “You Are So Beautiful” “Simpson and Delilah”

#1: Homer Proposes With an Onion Ring “I Married Marge”

Also in:

Top 10 Worst Things Homer Simpson Ever Did

The most heartwarming flashback of all is the story of Marge’s first pregnancy. After Marge’s ring is repossessed and Homer moves out of Marge’s parents’ house to work a fast food job to support their growing family, all Marge can think about is how much she misses her husband. Against her family’s wishes, Marge tracks Homer down and tells him she needs him more than she needs any money. With nothing else on hand, Homer proposes with an onion ring, and Marge happily accepts. This moment sums up the Homer and Marge relationship better than anything else could -- as long as they have each other, they’ll be the happiest versions of themselves.
