Top 10 Thriller Movie Villains

Top 10 Thriller Movie Villains
VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton
These villains are famous for making our hearts skip a beat, all while making our imaginations go wild. They have appeared as both likeable and insane characters, predatory creatures and creations of fear. In this countdown http://www.WatchMojo.com takes a look at the top 10 thriller villains from the horror genre.
Top 10: Thriller Movie Villains

They’ll keep you holding your breath in suspense. Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re counting down the Top 10 thriller movie villains.

Number 10: Carrie White (Carrie)

While she was the protagonist of the film, many debate whether Carrie was a villain, a victim, or a hero. One thing is for sure, this tormented soul was a frightening bomb just waiting to be detonated. And that she did when she murdered everyone at prom over a prank involving pig’s blood.

Number 9: The Blair Witch (The Blair Witch Project)

What makes this one of the greatest suspense villains is that there was actually no Witch. We never saw her and there was no killing or death in the movie. As it turned out, the Blair Witch was nothing but a manifestation of fear and panic.

Number 8: Nurse Ratched (One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest)

Maybe not your traditional horror or suspense film, but Nurse Ratched is one of the most cold, sadistic and passive/aggressive forces of intimidation and humiliation to ever horrify us from the silver screen. When she’s done berating you, you’ll gladly kill yourself, regardless of whether or not you belong in the asylum.

Number 7: John Doe (Se7en)

Barely glimpsed until the final reel of the 1995 thriller Seven, Kevin Spacey's John Doe menaces with a series of grim performance crimes. When Doe finally appears, he de-settles us with an unexpected stillness and ability to rationalize his homicidal actions with unflinching logic.

Number 6: Annie Wilkes (Misery)

She isn't a supernatural ghost or monster hiding in the bushes. Annie’s much more insidious. Behind the cheerful, overly nice and harmless facade lies a dangerous bi-polar psychopath with a touch of paranoid schizophrenia. She just happens to be an overly protective caregiver with a love of sledgehammers.

Number 5: Xenomorphs (Alien)

Prowling the long, shiny corridors of the spaceship Nostromo, this terrifying alien blended into the darkness to pick off crewmembers one at a time. Not only able to climb walls, but with acid saliva, it could burrow into any part of the ship to find you.

Number 4: The Shark (Jaws)

The beach has never been the same. Jaws is terrifying because the Shark could be anywhere, and his absence only fueled the suspense. And let’s not forget about the iconic music that kept us on the edge of our seats in anticipation.

Number 3: Norman Bates (Psycho)

Based on real-life psycho Ed Gein, Norman Bates ushered in the modern horror movie and a new breed of killer. He may have seemed like an innocent young man, but when his mommy isn’t happy, you’d better not take a shower.

Number 2: Jack Torrance (The Shining)

He claims he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. He just wants to bash his wife’s head in. Jack Nicholson‘s performance as the hobbling axe-wielding and insane caretaker of a remote hotel is an iconic centerpiece in suspense horror history.

Number 1: Hannibal Lector (The Silence of The Lambs)

There's nothing scarier than intelligence. Especially when coupled with an appetite for human flesh, with a side of fava beans and Chianti. Limiting himself to only dining on people he finds rude, Hannibal Lecter remains menacing to anyone, even when he’s strapped down and wearing his muzzle.
