Top 10 Times Demon Slayer Broke the Internet

#10: All Hail Mitsuri
Its only natural that Demon Slayer fans love the Love Hashira. Shes adorable, badass, and uses a razor-whip sword. But, its only as Mitsuri stepped up to face Hantengu that the whole world fell head over heels. And can you blame them? When the music swells and Mitsuris twirling through the air chopping up dragon bits, nothing in all of Demon Slayer looks cooler. Although, it helped that a few choice frames showed off a lot of Mitsuris assets, if you catch our drift. Even if its not entirely for pure reasons, Mitsuris grand fight sure spread the love far and wide.
#9: Thunder-Claps For Zenitsu
As Zenitsu went to sleep, the rest of the planet woke up to just how clutch he is in a fight. By escaping to dreamland, the Slayer calmed his nerves, going from a spastik liability into a lean, mean, Thunder-Breathing machine. One gorgeously-animated sword thrust later, and Zenitsu had claimed his first victory in all of Demon Slayer. Thankfully, it wouldnt be the last. Not by a long shot. The scene-stealing decapitation officially put Zenitsu on the board as a fan-favorite to look out for. Although, considering his breathing techniques are all about thunder, thats hardly shocking anymore.
#8: Muichiros Red Mist
By the time Tanjiro journeyed to the Swordsmith Village, Demon Slayer was already an industry-shaking phenomenon. But, as Muichiro proved, theres always room for one more epic Hashira standoff. At the start, the prickly Slayer had a major chip on his shoulder. And, up against Gyokko of the Twelve Kizuki, that hesitation nearly cost Muichiro his life. Luckily, he pulled himself together just in the nick of time, delivering a Mist Breathing headshot for the record books. All things considered, its a pretty subdued final strike. The fan reaction, though, was anything but. Muichiro wont be forgotten any time soon.
#7: Muzan Clears Out His Ranks
Even for villains, friendly fire is usually frowned upon. But, it sure does make for good television! Continually let down by his chief lieutenants, the Kizuki, Muzan decides to clean house - the violent way. While wed seen the Demon Lord in action before, it was never at this scale, and certainly not against other, high-ranking demons. Seeing them run for their lives does more to characterize Muzan than any dialogue ever could. To put it into perspective, the body count in this one scene rivals the rest of Demon Slayers first season combined. No wonder people couldnt shut up about Muzan.
#6: Nezuko Puts the Demon in Demon Slayer
With Daki on the prowl and Tanjiro nearly six feet deep, Nezuko finally stepped into the fray to teach the demon a lesson. Its pretty much a game; one where Dakis head is the ball. Watching Nezuko embrace her inner demon should be terrifying, but quite frankly, everyone was too busy enjoying the show to care. After all, Daki really, really deserved this. Its almost funny, in a way. Usually, Nezuko got her flowers by being Tanjiros cutesy sister. But, here, she drew viewer discussion for a very different, much bloodier reason. Hey, you wont hear us complaining.
#5: Rengokus Fiery Finish
Set your heart ablaze. Thats the inspiring motto of Flame Hashira Kyoguro Rengoku, a characters whose burning legacy pretty much speaks for itself. In case you need a reminder, though, he spent the record-breaking Mugen Train arc heaving his sword right into Akazas smug face. He fought, he struggled, and he persevered, pushing Demon Slayer to untold levels of excitement. And still, it wasnt enough. He died fighting the good fight, and lets just say Tanjiro wasnt the only one choked up about it afterwards. Still, Rengoku can rest easy knowing he set the internet ablaze as much as he did his own heart.
#4: Downfall of Daki & Gyutaro
When it comes to hype, the finale of the Entertainment District arc brings it like no other. Youve got not just one, but two Kizuki to take down. And, even better, theyre up against a four-pronged effort of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Tengen. To put it bluntly, its pure fireworks. The animation is simply next level. To say nothing of the music and voice acting! It all culminated in a dual-edged decapitation so mind-blowingly epic, people had no choice but to start posting. If you didnt see all the clips of this fight the day it aired, then you must be nice and cozy under that rock.
#3: Muzan Makes an Entrance
Thats right, something as simple as a character appearing on screen is enough to send Demon Slayer fans into a frenzy these days. While that speaks to the series overwhelming popularity, this scene in particular has something else going for it. Namely, it might be one of the most over-dramatic entrances in anime history. Muzans really showing off here! In the grand scheme of things, his appearance also marks the beginning of the end for Demon Slayer. Hes officially at the Hashiras gates, and as every manga fan knows, the fight to come is just something else. Now, just imagine how the internet will react when the battle actually begins.
#2: Nezuko Steps Into the Light
Grab you tissue boxes, everyone. There wasnt a dry eye left when this episode dropped. Fans across the world collectively grieved for Nezuko, who forced Tanjiros hand and sacrificed herself to save the lives of innocent villagers. Only, she didnt burn in the sun like most demons. Instead, she survived, sending the entire Demon Slayer fan base into a tailspin of feelings. Even if you dont consider the emotional whiplash of Nezukos decision, this moment effectively set up the series endgame, and boy were people excited about it. This was Demon Slayers moment of no return; itd be a bigger surprise if it didnt make waves.
#1: Hinokami Kagura
Every anime fan remembers where they were and what they were doing when episode 19 aired. Tanjiro and Nezuko facing Rui felt like a cataclysmic cultural event, and even that undersells it. Whether you were an anime fan or not, you simply couldnt escape the conversation. The episode flooded forums, spawned countless reactions, and trended on just about every single social media in existence. Anime had broken into the mainstream before, but this was something else. Demon Slayer wasnt just a hit show anymore, it was a full-on sensation the likes of which we hadnt seen in decades. And its all thanks to a little thing called Hinokami Kagura.
