These influencers let their emotions get the best of them. Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at infamous times social media influencers lost their composure in a livestream for one reason or another. Our countdown of the times influencers lost it on live streams includes people like Kylie Strickland, Sinatraa, Shane Dawson, and more!

#10: Sekiro Rage

Getting slain many times in a video game can be frustrating, sure, but it gets much worse when streaming on Twitch to an audience, as your embarrassment is amplified. In 2020, this happened to Hasan Piker, also known as HasanAbi, as he was playing “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice,” causing him to smash his controller in a rage. He angrily threw it on the table and the floor, launching it across his apartment, then angrily punched the sofa. To ramp it up further, Piker grabbed a dumbbell and dropped it on the controller. Lastly, he tore at it with his bare hands, separating it into different parts. It was strangely impressive.

It’s bonkers what some people will do for engagement. Apparently, even committing a serious crime isn’t off the table. In 2022, TikTok and OnlyFans influencer Kylie Strickland was livestreaming in a swimming pool with another woman and two teenage boys. For whatever reason, Strickland chose to flash the boys. Quickly, social media was rife with anger. So much so that the police in Pike County, Georgia, were informed and arrested her for child exploitation and electronic adult content. After news broke, Strickland released a video with excuses for her behavior that really didn’t help her cause. She claimed the boys had been drinking and had seen more exposed chests than she had. Yikes. Reportedly, Strickland lost custody of her kids over this incident.

#8: Piano Problem

As well as being an actor and model, Cathryn Li is a prominent influencer in Malaysia with her classical piano playing. In 2021, she was invited onto “FaceTalk,” a show hosted by Andy Chan on Facebook Live. During it, Li was asked to improvise on a keyboard as other musicians played. However, her training doesn’t make improvising easy. After struggling to get into it, Li focussed on recording the others. Then, she looked at the harsh comments on the stream about her and exploded with rage. Li argued with Chan, mentioning she wasn’t told about the improvisation beforehand. The host tried to calm her down but to no avail as she left. Li later apologized for her reaction.

In 2021, after the charges against police officer Mark Dial for fatally shooting Eddie Irizarry were initially dropped -- and which have since been reinstated -- a protest was arranged in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However, when the peaceful demonstration ended, a group turned violent, rioting, vandalizing, and stealing from nearby stores. Following the action with plenty of excitement was Dayjia Blackwell, also known as Meatball, as she live-streamed on Instagram. The police believed her encouraging people at the scene and showcasing the action to her large following could have inspired others to join in. As such, Blackwell was arrested on several charges during her stream. At the time of writing, she’s set to go to trial.

After becoming one of the best “Overwatch” players around, Jay Won, better known as Sinatraa, moved into the “Valorant” realm. However, in 2021, he was accused of abuse by a former partner and was suspended by Riot Games in competitive play and dropped by his esports team, Sentinels. A month after the allegations came out, Won was streaming on Twitch alongside Shahzeb Khan, also known as ShahZaM. Khan's fans were livid with the association with Won and slated the decision on the chat. Throughout, Won kept reading the comments and became very upset, resulting in him turning off his camera several times to compose himself. Khan apologized to his fans for not realizing the situation before agreeing to the stream.

When live streaming, influencers have to be extra careful to not expose private information to viewers. Unfortunately, Fraternidade Crypto made this very big mistake in 2023. The Brazilian cryptocurrency investor accidentally opened a notepad file while streaming, which contained the private keys to his cryptocurrency accounts. Upon realizing his mistake, Crypto ended the stream and attempted to transfer his cash from the exposed accounts to a secure one. However, it was too late. The following day, Crypto put up a live video on YouTube, calling the incident the worst of his life. He tearfully asked the thief to return the currency worth around $60,000. Amazingly, the robber contacted him on Discord and returned $50,000.

#4: Airing Dirty Laundry

After making her name on social media, Cardi B became a reality star and then a successful rapper. Since 2017, she has been married to fellow rapper Offset. Over the years, the two have had a rocky romance, causing them to break up and get back together several times. In 2023, a few days after confirming she had been “single for a minute,” Cardi B streamed on Instagram Live. Without showing her face, she ranted about Offset toying with her emotions during vulnerable times. The emotionally charged speech was filled with curse words and insults toward her estranged husband, causing viewers to send supportive messages and emojis. However, the support wasn’t enough to stop Cardi B from sobbing.

Nicknamed the “Lipstick King,” Li Jiaqi, also called Austin Li, is one of China’s biggest beauty influencers. He’s been known to sell thousands of products in mere minutes. However, all that success has seemingly made him out of touch with his fans. In 2023, Li was streaming on Taobao to sell an eyebrow pencil from Florasis. When a viewer commented that the retail price, around $11.00 U.S., was too expensive, Li responded with a rant, telling the person to contemplate whether they have been “working hard enough” for their salary. Considering Li was a “rags to riches” story from a shop assistant to a massive influencer, his fans were livid. More than a million unsubscribed, causing him to apologize for his outburst.

#2: Craving More Followers

As one of the first TikTok stars to carve out their name in the mainstream, Charli D'Amelio is one of the platform’s biggest names. In 2020, her family channel released a video that also featured the controversial James Charles. In addition to her and her sister Dixie seemingly being disrespectful to their personal chef, D'Amelio mentioned she wished she had received 100 million followers on the first anniversary of her getting 1 million. Instead, she reportedly lost over a million on TikTok as fans found their behavior “rude” and “entitled.” In the aftermath, D'Amelio went onto Instagram Live to discuss the controversy and apologize as she cried. She also stated she had received violent threats over the scandal.

In it, he stomps around his house and states, “Oh my god,” many, many times as he expresses frustration at Westbrook’s allegations. Dawson also accused Westbrook of twisting facts, being manipulative, and fake crying. It took his fiance, Ryland Adams, to convince Dawson to end his meltdown stream.
