Top 10 Times Jason Statham Went Beast Mode
#10: Captured
“Homefront” (2013)
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from action movies, it’s that you never mess with the protagonist’s daughter. Once you do, you’ll probably end up with a face full of dirt. Retired DEA Agent Phil Broker has been getting some unwanted attention in his new neighborhood, and when local gang members learn of his past, he winds up getting kidnapped. They torture him, almost drowning him, but then they make one fatal mistake. They threaten his daughter. Broker shows off his brutal side by taking on every single gang member in the room, breaking bones, and shaking off 2 by 4s like it’s nothing.
#9: Babysitting
“The Fate of the Furious” (2017)
When you’re looking for a partner in crime, it’s great if that someone can kick ass and parkour his way through a prison riot. And it’s even better if he’s great with kids! When Cipher uses Dom’s son as leverage to make him do some dirty work, Vin Diesel’s character enlists the help of Deckard Shaw to flip the tables. After faking his own death, Shaw infiltrates Cipher’s plane, grabs “the package”, sticks on some music for the kid, and begins to do some extreme multitasking. Deckard juggles the baby and the guys trying to kill him, and does it without getting hit once! While the kid may have had a good time, we doubt that Deckard will offer to babysit again anytime soon.
#8: Car Yard Fight
“Death Race” (2008)
When Jensen Ames is framed for the murder of his wife, he’s sentenced to life in prison. But the activities at this prison aren’t exactly up to code. When Jensen learns that his fellow racer Pachenko was the man who killed his wife, he walks his way through the car yard to get revenge. Unfortunately, they expect him and chain him up. A crewmate comes to his rescue however, and Statham erupts into beast mode. And when Ames loses it… he really loses it! Stabbing, punching, and crushing faces, he’s an animal. While Pachenko escapes, it shows us that he might be safer on the track of Death Race than he is off it.
#7: Basketball Court Fight
“The Expendables” (2010)
If one guy calmly walks towards a large group, you better back down, because by action movie logic, that one dude is gonna wipe the floor with everyone. Lee Christmas is a member of a mercenary group known as the Expendables. While the work seems thrilling, it’s not exactly conducive to long-lasting relationships. When Lee goes to visit a former girlfriend, Lacy, he finds out that her new boyfriend has been abusive. That’s when you see a switch in his demeanor. Lee finds the guy with his buddies and begins showing them the finer details of the court’s concrete. The fight is so one-sided, you can’t help but marvel at Lee’s handiwork.
#6: Restaurant Fight
“Mechanic: Resurrection” (2016)
What is it with these badass action types? Whenever they try to retire, there’s always someone who wants to bring them back into the life. After faking his own death in the previous film, Arther Bishop is approached by someone who requires his services. Of course, when he refuses, he has to fight his way out. This is where Bishop gets ridiculously badass. Not only does he redecorate the eatery with various furniture and bad guys, but he even finds time to fry up a foe’s face! To wrap things up, he jumps off a ridiculously high cable car onto a passing hang glider! Apparently, he’s not only a fierce fighter, but also as light as a feather.
#5: Subway Fight
“Safe” (2012)
If you were to have a guardian angel, would you pick Jason Statham? After this entry, you just might! As former cop and cage fighter Luke Wright considers ending his life, he spots a little girl being chased by the same Russians who killed his pregnant wife. What follows is an absolutely brutal subway fight where Statham’s character takes on each of the henchmen in turn, even lifting one up and pulling his crotch straight into a pole. And this all comes after a stint of homelessness, so Wright likely isn’t in his best shape! You can take the beast out of the cage, but he’ll never lose his inner warrior.
#4: Burning Desire
“Crank: High Voltage” (2009)
Statham movies generally involve electrifying action scenes, but what if the electricity never stopped? Chev Chelios’ heart has been stolen (literally), leaving him with a battery pack in its place. Racing against the clock, he’s forced to pull off some ridiculous stunts, like taking a jump from a car battery. In this pulse-pounding film, Chelios runs around fighting, kidnapping, and even taking beatings from the police, all in the name of helping him juice up. But out of all the beast mode moments in this film, the most insane one is when Chev climbs an electric pole to recharge and then beats El Huron to death while his skin is burning off. Now that’s Jason unleashed.
#3: Don’t Axe Me
“The Transporter” (2002)
If you’re going to mess with Frank Martin, you better have more than metal pipes and blind confidence. This man is an unstoppable force, so when one of his clients tries to kill him after completing the job, he decides to pay them another visit. This time, he ducks, dives, and destroys everyone in the house. The slick gunfights are well and good, but it’s when two guys corner him with axes that Martin really shines. Swiftly dodging each swing from both sides, his reflexes are impossibly sharp. But of course, Transportation is a precise business, and Frank takes his job very seriously.
#2: Back Alley Brawl
“Wild Card” (2015)
Nick Wild is a Las Vegas chaperone; he protects people during their visit to support his gambling addiction. But don’t let the job title fool you - this man is an undercover badass, slicing and dicing his way through enemies with whatever he can find. We never knew a credit card could be so lethal! In the film’s most brutal scene, Nick has been cornered by gangster Danny DeMarco outside of a diner. What ensues is a savage brawl where Jason sticks kitchen utensils in all sorts of places, even using them to stop a gun from firing! It’s bloody, brutal, and totally badass.
Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
Killing a Megalodon, “The Meg” (2018)
Ridiculous Badassery at Its Finest
Punch to the Balls, “Killer Elite” (2011)

#1: Greased Fighting
“The Transporter” (2002)
There isn’t a fight scene in Jason Statham’s career as iconic as this epic bus station battle. So much so that they try to replicate it in the sequels! When Frank gets cornered in a bus station, it looks like he might actually be in trouble. But this man is nothing if not creative!. He tips grease all over the floor and himself, sending the baddies flying on their backsides. He then steals some bike pedals and uses them to stabilize himself, delivering roundhouse kick after roundhouse kick to his opponents. It’s not until the guns come out that he has to flee, but he showed us that combining brain with brawn makes the ultimate beast.
