Top 10 Unforgettable Chuck and Blair Moments
Chuck and Blair are one of TV's most memorable couples, and on Gossip Girl, they're known to be the fan favorite couple. What makes them so special is their devotion to one another even if they may have been toxic for each other. In this countdown we take a look at Top 10 Chuck and Blair Moments! Some of their best moments we've included is their first kiss, three words, eight letters, empire state building and their wedding.
#10: "I can't stand the thought of you with anyone else”
“The Backup Dan”
They wouldn’t be Chuck and Blair without their crazy ups and downs, and this scene proves to us that sometimes true love has to wait. About to marry the wealthy Louis, Blair runs away from her wedding, only for her friends to find her. Chuck and Blair have a serious conversation where they each confess wanting to be together, but Blair refuses to jump into the relationship if it means Chuck has to buy her off Louis. Even if it’s romantic that Chuck has such an outpouring of raw emotion, we can’t help but think that Blair did the right thing by refusing to be bought and traded like an object.
#9: "If two people are meant to be together…"
“The Witches of Bushwick”
Season four was tumultuous for our favourite couple, as they struggled with the consequences of being together, especially when they didn’t want to go public. We can’t help but admire Blair for wanting to wait until she’d achieved success so that she and Chuck could be partners on equal terms, but it still hurt our souls to see them walk away. Despite parting ways, they made us believe in love and in fate, especially when Chuck declares that people who love each other always find their way back.
#8: "Because I'm going to love your baby as much as I love you”
“Riding in Town Cars with Boys”
Blair broke all of our hearts, and Chuck’s, when she visited him and told him that she was pregnant with Louis’ baby. While finding out the love of your life if carrying someone else’s child, Chuck eventually comes around. With his feeling for Blair strong enough to overcome the fact that the child is not his own. In a tender scene where a hopeful Blair asks Chuck why they should be together, we have to admit that his response makes us squeal every time.
#7: Blair Saves Chuck from Jumping off the Roof
“In the Realm of the Basses”
The death of a parent is always a difficult ordeal, and sometimes it pushes people to the edge. Literally. After his father dies, Chuck begins to realize that being a Bass doesn’t make him invincible or immortal, and he disappears. Chuck's uncle eventually finds him in Bangkok and brings him home to Manhattan. However, the night of Chuck's party, she finds him standing on the roof of a tall building, completely drunk. What happens next is way better and more touching than either of them saying “I love you”. If you didn’t cry ugly tears at this scene, we’re pretty sure you’re dead inside.
#6: Three Words, Eight Letters
“Summer Kind of Wonderful”
Blair’s an expert at knowing how to make Chuck jealous, and Chuck knows exactly what makes Blair tick, so when Blair brings a new boyfriend to the Hamptons’ white party, both of them know what game the other is playing. We learn that Blair wants more from Chuck than he’s able to give, because he's afraid of being vulnerable. So Blair asks one thing of him; three words, eight letters. When Blair walks away, it was a promise that season two was sure to be full of drama and that their relationship would continue to be as complex as ever, leaving us a sobbing mess.
#5: Empire State Building
“Last Tango, Then Paris”
This is one of those times where we wanted to throw our TV out the window in frustration. The timing is never right between these two, and when Chuck challenges Blair to meet him at the top of the Empire State Building to prove her love to him, she initially refuses. At the last minute she decides that her feelings are real and that she’s brave enough to be with him. As usual, things goes wrong and a forlorn Chuck is left standing alone at the top of the Empire State Building with his heart broken, and our throats sore from all the screaming we did at the screen.
#4: “It wouldn't be my world without you in it"
“Double Identity”
This moment took us on a rollercoaster of emotion. Chuck tries to go by the name Henry Prince, after he gets mugged and shot at the end of the last season, thinking that he can grow into a man someone else could love. Then Blair makes us cry when she reminds him that someone did love him, but that she doesn’t anymore. Maybe it was true in the moment, and maybe we knew that Chuck and Blair were inevitably going to end up together, but our hearts couldn’t handle it and we sobbed our way through the rest of the episode.
#3: Their Wedding
“New York, I Love You XOXO”
Every big moment between these two is filled with drama, and there’s no reason that their wedding would be any different. You’d expect their wedding to be a big, romantic affair, but in reality it was a small ceremony with family and friends that happens in less than a minute, with sirens blaring in the background and cops running towards them. Can you think of anything more quintessentially Chuck and Blair? Besides, with references to their past and the way Chuck silently mouths “I love you” after their kiss are some of the sweetest things we’ve ever seen. At least until we see their adorable son, Henry.
#2: “I love you too” Season 2 Finale
“The Goodbye Gossip Girl”
They have their ups and their downs, their struggles and their triumphs, and almost nothing tops the first time Chuck manages to say “I love you” to Blair. And if actions speak louder than words, then Chuck is practically screaming as he gifts her, among other things, macaroons from Paris, having travelled around Europe to pick them up for her. He can’t imagine a world without Blair, and we can’t imagine a world where they aren’t together, even if it takes almost an entire show of breaking up and getting back together for them to earn their happily ever after.
Before we unveil our top pick, here are some honourable mentions:
"Because I love her and I can't make her happy”
“The Wrath of Con”
Prom Queen Ballot
“Valley Girls”
“What do we have?, Chuck? You tell me. Tonight.”
“It’s a Wonderful Lie”
#1: First Kiss and First Hookup
“Victor/Victrola”
There’s nothing like your favourite characters kiss onscreen. And in typical Chuck and Blair style, theirs isn’t exactly PG. This is the moment they made audiences want Chuck and Blair to stay together forever. Chuck brings out the wild side in Blair, and she brings out the soft side in him. From the sexy routine in Chuck’s new club, to the hesitant “are you sure?” in the limo, we knew that we’d be shipping these two till the end of time.
