#10: I Want to See You
“Sliver” (1993)

In this alleged erotic thriller, Sharon Stone finds herself in the apartment of everyone’s second favorite Baldwin brother. They proceed to the couch where Baldwin removes Stone’s headband and likely itchy sweater. He “flies straight into the volcano,” amounting to an extended sequence of moaning, and Stone making painful facial expressions. It’s only made more uncomfortable by the musical accompaniment of Massive Attack and the fact that Baldwin has rigged the apartment with hidden cameras. At least they didn’t do anything with the Power Glove on Baldwin’s desk.

#9: How Would You Touch Me?
“Her” (2013)

Theodore and Samantha are starting to fall in love. The only problem is that he’s human and she’s a bodiless operating system. So…how do they do it? The two start off by discussing how they’d touch each other in bed. Imagining that they’re really together, Theodore and Samantha pleasure themselves as the camera fades to black. On the one hand, it’s charming how this pair is finally able to share a sexual connection. On the other hand, it’s really weird, taking the notion of phone sex to a new level.

#8: A Name For You
“Last Tango in Paris” (1972)

Upon initial release, “Last Tango in Paris” faced much controversy for its graphic depiction of sex. Nowadays, though, the film’s sex scenes are really more awkward than they are shocking. In this iconic moment, Marlon Brando’s widowed Paul and Maria Schneider’s mysterious Parisian Jeanne hold one another in the nude. Having decided to not share any personal information, Jeanne insists that they give each other names. This results in them making a series of cartoon sound effects. Suddenly, the age difference is far from the strangest thing about this couple.

#7: Rooftop Sex
“The Rock” (1996)

Any sex scene involving Nicolas Cage is bound to be unintentionally awkward. Atop a candlelit balcony, Cage’s Stanley Goodspeed gets intimate with his pregnant fiancé, Carla. The romantic atmosphere is diminished, however, as Goodspeed talks naughty under his breath. Before things can really heat up, Goodspeed is cock-blocked by his humungous ‘90s phone. While their lovemaking is put on hold, the FBI agent guarantees Carla they’ll finish what they started later. Maybe not the most romantic scene, but it’s still the best we could expect from Michael Bay.

#6: It’s Turkey Time
“Gigli” (2003)

Larry’s an egotistical meathead and Ricki’s a flexible lesbian who compares penises to giant toes. It’s only natural these two would get together…um, right? Despite having no chemistry whatsoever, the mismatched couple still gobbles each other up in this infamous scene from “Gigli.” It isn’t passionate, it isn’t sexy, but it does kick things off with some embarrassingly horrendous one-liners. Turkey time? The only turkey here is the movie itself. If Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s off-screen love life was as laughable as this, it’s no wonder they split up.

#5: Bed-Breaking Sex
“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1” (2011)

This is it, people! After three “Twilight” movies of staring, mouth breathing, and will they/won’t they tension, Bella and Edward are finally getting hitched. Their wedding night is every bit as lame and gawky as you’d expect. Subsequent to some moonlit skinny-dipping, the pair makes their way to the bedroom to consummate the marriage. But before Edward can destroy Bella, he destroys their bed. The remainder of the sex primarily takes place off screen. Given the mutilated state of their room in the morning, though, maybe that’s for the best.

#4: Zion Rave
“The Matrix Reloaded” (2003)

“The Matrix” delivered everything one could want from an R-rated action blockbuster, except for sex and nudity. To make up for it, the film’s 2003 sequel went into fan service overdrive. The underground city of Zion throws a chaotic rave reminiscent of an orgy at Jabba the Hut’s palace. A frisky Neo and Trinity decide to get some alone time, however. What ensues is a hilarious slow-motion sequence cutting between Zion’s half-naked party people and the ultimate power couple getting it on. Fortunately, they didn’t use any machines.

#3: Pool Sex
“Showgirls” (1995)

As hard as “Showgirls” tried to disguise itself as an actual movie, everybody knows it’s really nothing more than soft-core porn. Matters get particularly smutty as Elizabeth Berkley’s Nomi exposes it all and advances to an extravagant swimming pool. A naked Kyle MacLachlan soon joins her to explore uncharted underwater territories. They engage in sexual relations so wild and ridiculous, it practically gives them both seizures. Elizabeth, we highly doubt Jessie from “Saved by the Bell” would approve of this.

#2: Wax Sex
“Body of Evidence” (1993)

Madonna, you might have built your career around taking your clothes off, but “Body of Evidence” is irrefutable proof that you need to start keeping them on. Accused of murdering her lover, Madonna’s Rebecca quickly rebounds with her lawyer played by Willem Dafoe. One steamy night, their love affair takes a kinky turn as Madonna restrains Dafoe with a belt. She decides to heat things up by pouring hot wax on her lover’s chest, stomach, and nether regions. Dafoe seems to enjoy it, but the audience is disturbed beyond belief.

Before we recoil at our unsexy top pick, here are a few honorable mentions:
- Hallelujah
“Watchmen” (2009)
- Butt Sex
“In the Cut” (2003)
- Shower Sex
“The Specialist” (1994)
- Car Sex
“Poison Ivy” (1992)

#1: My Lisa’s Great Whenever I Get It
“The Room” (2003)

Seeing how the characters in “The Room” already talk like people from another planet, it makes sense they’d have sex like aliens too. This scene starts on an unbelievably bizarre note as young Denny tries to get involved with Johnny and Lisa’s pillow fight. After giving Denny the boot, the lovebirds commence a transcendently awkward sex scene consisting of dragged-out foreplay, questionable lovemaking positions, and zero consistency. And how do you conclude the most unintentionally awkward sex scene ever? By having Johnny bare his behind to the audience, of course.
