#10: Lady Dimitrescu Resident Evil Village (2021)

If you want a sure-fire way to cause the internet to implode, then nine times out of ten, introducing a ridiculously tall, attractive, and often deadly woman is the way to go about it. And few did it better than Alcina Dimitrescu. The tall vampire lady broke minds and hearts alike from her first appearance in the RE Village demo, only to go on to cement herself as one of the most iconic villains in modern gaming. She is sadistic, she is ferocious, and by god do we want her to step on us.

#9: The Animatronics Five Nights at Freddys (2014)

The lore of this point and click horror phenomenon goes deep. Some would say too deep. But even if you ignore the rest of the franchise, the debut of Freddy and his murder robot pals alone was more than enough to capture the imagination and fear of millions of players. With nothing more than jump scares across a handful of night shifts, the killer animatronics became household names, spurned on by the murky nature of their backstory. Now, theyre an indie horror powerhouse, propelled forward by an endless sea of sequels and spin-offs!

#8: Trevor Grand Theft Auto V (2013)

While all three of GTA 5s protagonists are wholly entertaining with their different brands of criminality, Trevors unfiltered anarchy became the face of the game itself. Severely troubled, easily angered and prone to bouts of murderous psychosis, Trevor was about as broken a man as it gets. And yet, he was still oddly endearing. You could start to see where the cracks formed, and while he had no problem with breaking things or people at a moments notice, he wasnt completely without morality. Pair that with Steven Oggs tremendous performance and youve got yourself a landmark character gamers couldnt get enough of.

#7: Astarion Baldurs Gate 3 (2023)

Did someone ask for a supremely sassy vampire? Doesnt matter, Astarion is here and he wont be leaving the gaming zeitgeist anytime soon. A seductive elf and vampire spawn, Astarion initially seems like your typical flamboyant bloodsucker with duplicitous designs. Depending on your actions, youll get to see what lurks beneath the surface a victim of cruelty and centuries of manipulation. Free him or allow him to reach the heights of depravity, the choice is yours. Either way, theres no denying Astarion charmed a lot, and we do mean a LOT, of people.

#6: Raymond Animal Crossings: New Horizons (2020)

For obvious reasons, New Horizons found itself as one of the ideal games to play during recent tumultuous times. Visiting other islands, an expanding a sense of community, it was a heartwarming experience for many. There was, however, one aspect of the New Horizons phenomenon that was truly unexpected. And that was Raymond. With his unique design compared to the other residents of the island, players instantly wanted a pieceto the extent that some went so far as to capture him, lock him in prison, and charge others to come look. Dear God

#5: Sora Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (2018)

Never doubt Sakurai. The man knows how to deliver. All throughout its tenure Smash Bros Ultimate had delivered incredible guest fighters one after another, from Joker to Sephiroth all the way to Steve from Minecraft. Though the reveal of its final fighter undoubtedly caused the biggest boom. Everyone had been predicting something crazy, perhaps a Dark Souls character, maybe Dante from Devil May Cry, and then we saw the keyblade. Kingdom Hearts popularity had continued to endure even with the monumental gaps between releases, so having Sora strut onto the fighting game scene was enough to make many a gamer's brain burst.

#4: Eve Stellar Blade (2024)

And were back to the backsides. Yeah, theres no scooting around this one. Eve and her ungodly jiggle physiques, risqué collection of costumes and top-notch animation ensured that even before the games release there were many who were left either salivating or offended by her appearance. There really was no between. The game lived and breathed on its combat, techno aesthetic and sexy lead, and they certainly delivered on all three. When it comes to the most luscious ladies in gaming, Eve has well and truly established a place for herself among the hierarchy.

#3: Malenia Elden Ring (2022)

Prepare for pain. While none of Elden Rings roster of bosses are what you would consider easy, there was one that put absolute fear into Soulsborne fans alike. With her ability to heal with every strike, two phases of seething difficulty and the nightmare that is her Waterfowl Dance technique, Malenia shot up the ranks as FromSofts hardest boss at the time. Rumours of her strength run amok, tempting newcomers to try their luck in vanquishing heronly to meet their end all the same. Some still have trauma.

#2: Abby The Last of Us Part ii (2020)

Theres infamous, and theres Abby Anderson. Few characters in the video game scene have inspired as much hate as Abby over the years, all stemming from her unceremonious murder of Joel at the start of this long-sought sequel. While her vengeance isnt at all random, given that Joel murdered her father while on his rampage to save Ellies life, the way in which its presented and the efforts to try and shade light on her reasoning AFTER the gruesome actyeah, that did not sit well with people, to such an extent that the conversation surrounding her became absurdly toxic.

#1: Johnny Silverhand Cyberpunk 2077 (2020)

Long before the game began its long road to recovery following a botched launch, Cyberpunk was already saturated in hype. So, what did CD Projekt Red do to capitalize on that in the biggest way possible? They got Keanu freakin Reeves. The showcase in which the character of Johnny was revealed was, unironically, breathtaking. Having star power attached to a game is one thing but having Keanu at the height of his second renaissance headline it sent anticipation flying straight into the stratosphere.
