Top 10 Video Game Siblings

Top 10 Video Game Siblings
VOICE OVER: Dan Paradis
Script written by Briana Lawrence

We love our siblings, and sometimes, we love to hate them. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we countdown our picks for the Top 10 Video Game Siblings.

For this list, we'll be looking at the best of the best when it comes to sibling camaraderie... or death battles, or vengeance, depending on the characters. Now, we adore all of you Mojoholics and consider you to be family, but for simplicity's sake, we're excluding that kind of familial bond, so you won't be seeing the likes of Bioshock Infinite's Lutece Twins on this list.

Special Thanks to our users "David Byrd" "DeMarco Davidson" & "Daniel Fong" for suggesting this topic on our interactive suggestion tool at WatchMojo.comsuggesst

#10: The Carmine Brothers
“Gears of War” series (2006-)

If it’s a fight you want, it’s a fight you’re gonna get when it comes to the Carmine brothers. We’ve got big brother, Clayton, and his two younger brothers, Anthony and Benjamin. Being a part of the military is practically in the Carmine blood... and so is dying. Two of the Carmine brothers die in battle, but Clayton, surprisingly, survives! Perhaps it’s his younger brothers watching over him that protect him from a serious string of bad luck. Maybe it’s blessings from the fourth Carmine brother we haven’t met yet. Or maybe it’s bacon.

#9: Maya and Mia Fey
“Ace Attorney” series (2001-)

Some siblings feel so close to one another that they can tell what the other is thinking. This is especially true with the Fey sisters. These two are so close that Maya can actually channel her big sister, Mia... even after Mia is killed. After her sister’s untimely demise, Maya’s emotions awake her true, psychic powers, and Mia is able to speak through her and help solve her own murder. We’re often told that our family will always be with us when they pass away, but these girls take it to a whole new level.

#8: Henry and Sam
“The Last of Us” (2013)

When the world has come to an end, these two brothers only have each other to rely on. Henry is fiercely protective of his younger brother, Sam, and rightfully so, considering the situation they’ve been thrust into. Surviving the end of days is no easy task, and the two boys join Joel and Ellie in an attempt to survive the dire circumstances. As to be expected with a hardened big brother, Henry puts Sam’s safety above anyone else’s -- including his own.

#7: Billy and Jimmy Lee
“Double Dragon” series (1987-2012)

Sometimes, you just gotta take the fight to the streets, especially when some thug kidnaps your girlfriend. But Billy can’t rescue his lady love alone -- well, he can, but things are much better with a player two, right? Billy and Jimmy work together... until the end where they fight each other? It’s all right, they come together again when Billy’s girlfriend is killed in the sequel. This is just the beginning of their many adventures as they work to rid the streets of vicious gang members and finding the mystical Double Dragon medallion to transform into... wait... what?

#6: Crash and Coco Bandicoot
“Crash Bandicoot” series (1996-2010)

Crash is a wacky, zany hero who is so energetic that he can use his body as a weapon by spinning around like a tornado and break things. His younger sister, Coco, is his exact opposite, often relying on her intelligence to get the job done and serving as a technological aid in his adventures ... or ordering him around in the way younger sisters are biologically engineered to do. Together, these two balance each other out, and work together to stop their adversaries each time they cause trouble.

#5: Chris and Claire Redfield
“Resident Evil” series (1996-)

The determination to take out the Umbrella Corporation definitely runs in the Redfield family. After the infamous mansion incident, Claire sets off on a quest to find her older brother, Chris, which leads her to a zombie infested nightmare. Despite the dire circumstances, Claire continues to believe in Chris, even when she becomes a prisoner on a zombie-filled island. Still, she knows that her big brother will be there for her ... and she’s absolutely right. Once the dust settles they decide that they’ve had enough. Umbrella is going down.

#4: Sans and Papyrus
“Undertale” (2015)

There’s no bones about it, these two brothers are one of the best things to come from an already fantastic indie game. We have the short, stocky Sans, with his laid back attitude and stellar jokes. And we have the tall, charismatic Papyrus, the coolest skellington you’ll ever meet. Despite Papyrus’s knack for scolding his older brother for his laziness, it’s obvious that the two care for one another. Don’t believe us? We dare you to kill Papyrus. Sans will definitely show a side of him that you never, ever want to cross.

#3: Dante and Vergil
“Devil May Cry” series (2001-13)

Have there ever been twin brothers as different as Dante and Vergil? Dante, with his over-the-top overconfidence, and Vergil, with his calm and collected demeanor. They even differ in what part of their heritage they embrace, as Dante embraces humanity while Vergil prefers to embrace his demonic side. These two are always at odds with each other, yet somehow manage to work together quite well when they have to, and Dante even feels remorse when he thinks he’s lost Vergil. We’d say this was a complicated relationship, but honestly, that’s just what siblings do.

#2: Solid, Liquid, and Solidus Snake
“Metal Gear Solid” series (1998-2015)

Sometimes, we envy our siblings if we feel that they’re better than us, and nothing says envy quite like Liquid Snake. Both him and his twin brother, Solid Snake, were conceived with Big Boss’s genes. Liquid feels a great resentment toward Snake because he got their “father’s” superior genes. Liquid is so resentful that he never realizes the truth: he’s the one with the superior genes, it’s just that Snake knows how to work with what he has -- inferior or not. Clearly, this proves that genes don’t mean everything, so there’s no need for anymore cloning... right?

Before we get to our absolute favourite siblings, let’s check out these honorable mentions:

Dunban and Fiora
“Xenoblade Chronicles” (2012)

Koume and Kotake
“Legend of Zelda” franchise (1986-)

Jacob and Evie Fyre
“Assassin’s Creed Syndicate” (2015)

Nina and Anna Williams
“Tekken” franchise (1994-)

Megaman, Protoman, and Roll
“Megaman” franchise (1987-2010)

#1: Mario and Luigi
“Mario Brothers” franchise (1983-)

Whether it’s defeating creatures terrorizing the sewers, traversing through the Mushroom Kingdom, or trying to stop Dennis Hopper from merging their worlds, there’s no pair quite like the Mario Brothers. Mario is typically the hero while Luigi plays second fiddle. Luigi seems perfectly fine with being number two due to his nervousness while out adventuring, but he really does try his best, and holds a great respect for Mario... most of the time. Besides, the adventure is much better with a player two. After all, it’s their teamwork that makes these brothers so super... or their power-ups, yeah, definitely the power-ups.
